Gobfin is a Paldeck #55 Water Pal with 90 across the board and no saddle, which makes it look like nothing — right up until you notice that its partner skill buffs **you**, not itself, and that nothing stops you from carrying four of them. This guide covers exactly what [Gobfin's stats and location](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin) are worth in a party slot, the Angry Shark percentage at every skill level, whether to run the Water original or [Gobfin Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin-ignis), where to catch both, and the breeding pairs that let you farm the condense duplicates you need.

## Gobfin at a Glance

Gobfin is a small Humanoid Water Pal that spawns in the wild between level 14 and 29, so you can have one in the party long before the mid-game. Its combat numbers are flat and unremarkable — 90 HP, 90 Melee, 90 Ranged, 75 Defense — and it can't be ridden at all, which is precisely why it never competes for the slot you actually care about. The Ignis subspecies is the same Pal with a Fire coat, identical base stats, a higher level band, and the same Angry Shark skill, so the choice between them is about element and workload, not power.

| Pal | Paldeck | Element | Wild Levels | HP | Melee | Ranged | Defense | Partner Skill |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Gobfin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin) | #55 | Water | 14-29 | 90 | 90 | 90 | 75 | Angry Shark |
| [Gobfin Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin-ignis) | #55B | Fire | 32-39 | 90 | 90 | 90 | 75 | Angry Shark |

Neither one is a fighter you build around. Both sit at 75 Defense with no mount speed to offer, and both are flagged as aggressive predators that charge you on sight in the wild — expect to get hit while you're throwing spheres. What they are is the cheapest party-wide damage buff in the game, and the only Pal buff you can legally run four copies of.

## How Angry Shark Works

Angry Shark raises **your own attack** while Gobfin is sitting in one of your five party slots. It does not need to be summoned, it does not need a saddle, and it does not care that Gobfin is a level 14 catch — the percentage is set by Gobfin's partner skill level, which climbs as you condense duplicates into it. An uncondensed Gobfin pays 10%; a fully condensed one pays 20%, which is double the value from the same party slot.

| Partner Skill Lv | Per Gobfin | 2 Gobfin | 3 Gobfin | 4 Gobfin |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Lv 1 (uncondensed) | +10% | +20% | +30% | +40% |
| Lv 2 | +11% | +22% | +33% | +44% |
| Lv 3 | +13% | +26% | +39% | +52% |
| Lv 4 | +16% | +32% | +48% | +64% |
| Lv 5 (max condense) | +20% | +40% | +60% | **+80%** |

The jump from Lv 1 to Lv 3 is worth only 3% per Pal, so a half-condensed Gobfin is barely better than a fresh catch — the payoff is bunched at the top, between Lv 4 and Lv 5. That means the correct order of operations is *four bodies first, stars second*: four uncondensed Gobfins already give you +40%, more than a single maxed one ever will, and you condense them afterwards. Pocketpair has never published how the four copies combine internally, so treat +80% as the practical ceiling rather than a guaranteed multiplier — but the direction is not in doubt, and you can stack the party yourself in the [Palworld Team Builder](https://palworld-db.com/team-builder) to see the totals for any five Pals.

## The Best Gobfin Team

The team is four Gobfins and one Pal that actually does something. Because Angry Shark pays out from the party list rather than from being summoned, the fifth slot is completely free — you keep your mount, your damage dealer, or your utility Pal and lose nothing. Most players hand the last slot to a fast flyer so the buff rides along with travel; [Jetragon's stats and speed](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jetragon) is the fastest mount in the game at 3,300 sprint speed, though its saddle is gated behind technology level 79, so anything you already fly is fine until then.

| Slot | Pal | Why it's there |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | [Gobfin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin) | +10% to +20% player attack from the party list, no summon needed |
| 2 | [Gobfin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin) | Second copy — the buff is per Pal, not per species |
| 3 | [Gobfin Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin-ignis) | Same Angry Shark payout, and Kindling 2 for base work between fights |
| 4 | [Gobfin Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin-ignis) | Fourth copy takes the stack to its +80% ceiling at Lv 5 |
| 5 | [Jetragon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jetragon) | Free slot — mount, damage or utility, the buff applies regardless |

Mixing Gobfin and Gobfin Ignis in the same party is fine and often better: the skill is identical on both, so you're only choosing which work suitabilities ride in your pocket. Note that this is a *player* damage team, not a Pal damage team — the four Gobfins buff your gun, so it rewards you fighting yourself rather than sending a Pal out to do it. If you'd rather your Pal did the hitting, the [best team comps for bosses and farming](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-team-comps) cover the summon-focused alternative.

### Gobfin vs Gobfin Ignis

The buff is a wash — both pay 10/11/13/16/20% — so pick on availability and side jobs. Gobfin appears from level 14 and is the one you can realistically stack early; Gobfin Ignis doesn't show up below level 32, but it's the more useful base worker if your camp needs a furnace lit. Their drops differ too, which matters when you're killing dozens of them during a condense farm.

| Pal | Rarity | Wild Spawn Spots | Work Suitabilities | Drop |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Gobfin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin) | 2 | 66 day / 66 night | Watering 2, Handiwork 2, Transporting 1 | [Aquatic Pal Fluids](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalFluid) — 100%, 1 |
| [Gobfin Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin-ignis) | 3 | 74 day / 74 night | Kindling 2, Handiwork 2, Transporting 1 | [Flame Organ](https://palworld-db.com/item/FireOrgan) — 100%, 1 |

Handiwork 2 on both is the quiet bonus here. Condense stacks leave you with piles of spare Gobfins you have no slot for, and a Handiwork 2 body is a perfectly good crafting-bench worker — see the [best base Pals for every job](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-base-pals) for where they slot in.

## Where to Catch Gobfin

Gobfin has 66 wild spawn points and all 66 are active during the day as well as at night, so there is no window to wait for — it is one of the easier Pals to farm in bulk. Wild ones roll between level 14 and 29, and the low end matters: a level 14 Gobfin resists spheres far less than a level 29 one, so grab your first few from the cheapest spawns and only bother with the high-level ones once you're properly kitted for a condense run. Open [the Gobfin spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=SharkKid) to see every point plotted.

| Source | Details |
| --- | --- |
| Wild spawns | 66 points, day and night, levels 14-29 — [view on the map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=SharkKid) |
| Dungeon boss | Mountain Stream Grotto — the boss version also drops Ancient Civilization Parts and Precious Claw, 2-4 each |
| Base raid | Arrives at level 23-39 with the Ferocious and Extremely Ferocious wild Pal herds around the Forest |
| Breeding | 97 different parent pairs produce a Gobfin egg — see below |

Two habits make the farm faster. Gobfin swims at 720 (900 dashing) against a walk speed of 80, so a fleeing one heads for water and outruns you there — engage on land. And because it's an aggressive Pal that opens fire on sight, you can stand still and let the spawn close the distance instead of chasing it across the shoreline.

### Where to Catch Gobfin Ignis

The Fire subspecies is slightly more common in the wild with 74 spawn points, again split evenly across day and night, but it sits in a much tighter level 32-39 band — you will not stumble into one early. Bring gear that survives a level 39 Fire Pal before you start a stack, then work [the Gobfin Ignis spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=SharkKid_Fire). If you already have Gobfins, breeding is usually faster than hunting it, because there's a fixed pair that guarantees the Ignis form.

## How to Breed Gobfins for Condensing

Condensing eats duplicates, and each star costs more of them than the last, so the four-star Gobfins that pay 20% each are a breeding project rather than a catching project. Two Gobfins of opposite genders always produce another Gobfin egg, which makes the stack self-sustaining once you own a pair — set up a Breeding Farm, keep [Cake](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cake) stocked, and let it run while you play. If you don't have a pair yet, 97 different parent combinations produce Gobfin, and several use Pals you can catch in the first few hours.

| Parent A | Parent B | Result | Note |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Gobfin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin) | [Gobfin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin) | Gobfin | Same-species pair — the fodder engine once you own two |
| [Bristla](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bristla) | [Needoll](https://palworld-db.com/pal/needoll) | Gobfin | Cheapest pair by rarity of both parents |
| [Dazzi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dazzi) | [Flambelle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flambelle) | Gobfin | Flambelle spawns from level 4, so this pair comes online early |
| [Fuack Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/fuack-ignis) | [Kelpsea](https://palworld-db.com/pal/kelpsea) | Gobfin | Both are common water-adjacent catches |
| [Gobfin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin) | [Rooby](https://palworld-db.com/pal/rooby) | Gobfin Ignis | Fixed combo — the only reliable way to make the Fire form |

That last row is the one to remember. Gobfin + Rooby is an exclusive pairing that ignores the normal breeding rank maths and always returns Gobfin Ignis, so a single Rooby converts your whole Water stack into Fire ones on demand. Gobfin Ignis also has 121 ordinary parent pairs of its own if you'd rather not keep a Rooby around. Run any combination you're unsure about through the [Palworld breeding calculator](https://palworld-db.com/breeding) before you commit eggs to it, and check [all exclusive breeding combos](https://palworld-db.com/guides/exclusive-breeding-combos) for the other fixed pairs.

## Best Moves for Gobfin

Your Gobfins spend the fight in the party list doing nothing, so their movesets are strictly a bonus — but the fifth slot is free, and a condensed Gobfin is a passable Water attacker if you want to summon one. Its kit is almost entirely Shot moves, and the ranking is not what the power numbers suggest: Aqua Gun's 50 power on a 2-second cooldown beats Aqua Burst's 200 on a 12-second one over any real fight.

| Move | Unlocks | Element | Power | Cooldown | Damage/sec |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Aqua Gun | Lv 15 | Water | 50 | 2.0s | **25.0** |
| Hydro Laser | Lv 50 | Water | 450 | 20.0s | 22.5 |
| Power Shot | Lv 7 | Neutral | 80 | 4.0s | 20.0 |
| Geyser Gush | Lv 70 | Water | 600 | 30.0s | 20.0 |
| Bubble Blast | Lv 22 | Water | 80 | 4.0s | 20.0 |
| Icicle Cutter | Lv 30 | Ice | 80 | 4.0s | 20.0 |
| Aqua Burst | Lv 40 | Water | 200 | 12.0s | 16.7 |

Aqua Gun, Hydro Laser and Power Shot are the three to keep — sustained pressure from Aqua Gun with Hydro Laser as the burst, and Power Shot as the Neutral option for anything that resists Water. Those damage-per-second figures only compare against each other; a Gobfin move's number means nothing next to a rifle's. Gobfin also inherits nine egg moves including Dragon Breath, Iceberg, Lock-on Laser and Multicutter, so a bred one can carry coverage its wild counterpart never gets — [the full active skill list](https://palworld-db.com/active-skills) has the numbers for each.

> **Tip.** **Bodies before stars.** Four freshly caught Gobfins give you +40% attack immediately; one fully condensed Gobfin gives +20%. Fill all four slots first, then feed duplicates into them — and remember the buff applies from the party list, so you never have to give up your mount to run this team.

## What Else Gobfin Is Good For

A condense farm produces far more Gobfins than four, and they aren't waste. Both forms carry Handiwork 2, so spares go straight onto a crafting bench; the Water form adds Watering 2 for crop plots and the Ignis form adds Kindling 2 for furnaces and cooking pots. They eat 2 food slots against a 150 hunger pool, which is cheap for a two-job worker. Every Gobfin you kill during the farm also drops Aquatic Pal Fluids at a flat 100%, and the Ignis drops Flame Organ at the same rate — two materials you burn constantly through the mid-game.
