# Best Pals for Kindling: Ranks, Spawns, and Furnaces

Kindling ranked for all 44 Pals that have it — Renjishi's lone rank 8, the catchable rank 7s, exact spawn counts and food costs, all 17 structures that need a lighter, the one Pal that can run the Ancient Furnace alone, and the research and passives that speed the job up.

Kindling is the job that smelts every ingot, cooks every meal and keeps your base warm, and 44 of the game's 288 Pals can do it. This guide ranks all 44, lists the spawn counts and food costs that decide who earns a base slot, covers all 17 structures that need a lighter, names the single Pal that can satisfy the Ancient Furnace on its own, and shows the research tree and passive stack that make a furnace run twice as hard.

## Kindling at a Glance

Kindling is the job with the second-largest pile of structures behind it — 17, beaten only by Handiwork's 23 — and unlike the farm jobs, none of those 17 asks for more than **rank 1**. A [Foxparks](https://palworld-db.com/pal/foxparks) legally lights a Gigantic Furnace exactly like a [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) does; the rank buys speed, not access. That makes Kindling the easiest top-tier job to staff badly and never notice, because a low-rank lighter still produces ingots, just slowly. The other thing worth knowing early is that the in-game build text keeps saying a fire Pal is required, and that isn't quite true — [Kitsun Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/kitsun-noct) is a pure Dark Pal with Kindling 4, the only non-Fire Pal in the game that can light anything.

| What | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Pals with Kindling | 44 of 288 — the eighth-widest of the twelve base jobs |
| Rank ceiling | 8 — held by one Pal, [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) |
| Rank spread | 8×1 · 7×3 · 6×4 · 5×8 · 4×9 · 3×7 · 2×7 · 1×5 |
| Structures that need it | **17** — second only to Handiwork's 23 |
| Rank those structures ask for | **Lv. 1, all seventeen** — no Kindling structure has a rank gate |
| Non-Fire Pals with Kindling | Exactly one — [Kitsun Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/kitsun-noct), pure Dark, Kindling 4 |
| Most common kindler | [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) — **1,990 spawn points** at Kindling 2 |
| Best rank per food | [Chillet Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/chillet-ignis) — Kindling 4 on an appetite of 3 |
| Cheapest lighter of all | [Foxparks](https://palworld-db.com/pal/foxparks) — Kindling 1 on an appetite of 1, 94 spawn points |
| Speed levers | +45% from the research lab's Kindling line, +1 rank from a handbook, four passive slots |
| The two ancient stations | wants Kindling **and** Cooling, wants Kindling **and** Handiwork |

## Best Kindling Pals in Palworld

These 16 are every Pal at Kindling 5 or better. Read the last column before the rank column, because the top of this list has an availability problem: [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi), the only rank 8 in the game, has **zero ordinary spawn points** and exists on the map as one Lv. 78 alpha. That pushes the realistic best-in-slot down to the rank 7s, and two of those three are perfectly catchable — [Dupin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dupin) on 81 spawn points and [Flaracle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flaracle) on 26 plus an alpha. Below them, the rank 6s split by what else they bring: [Blazamut](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut) pairs Kindling 6 with Mining 7, and [Eidrolon Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/eidrolon-ignis) pairs it with Transporting 6, which means either one covers two base jobs from a single food slot.

| Pal | Kindling | Other jobs it does | Food | Night shift | How to get it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) | **8** | Handiwork 6 · Gathering 5 · Transporting 5 | 8 | No | **No ordinary spawns** — one Lv. 78 alpha, or breed it from 48 different pairs — [Renjishi alpha location](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=KabukiMan) |

| [Blazamut Ryu](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut-ryu) | 6 | Mining 7 | 9 | No | **Raid boss only** — summon it at Lv. 55 or Lv. 80, and the only pair that hatches one is Blazamut Ryu × Blazamut Ryu |
| [Eidrolon Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/eidrolon-ignis) | 6 | Transporting 6 | 9 | No | 26 spawn points, and 163 breeding pairs make one — [Eidrolon Ignis spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=GhostDragon_Fire) |
| [Faleris](https://palworld-db.com/pal/faleris) | 6 | Transporting 3 | 9 | No | 47 spawn points — breeding is no shortcut, only Faleris × Faleris makes another — [Faleris spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=Horus) |

| [Blazehowl](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazehowl) | 5 | Lumbering 3 | 6 | No | 56 spawn points plus a Lv. 30 alpha — the earliest rank 5 you can realistically own |
| [Reptyro](https://palworld-db.com/pal/reptyro) | 5 | Mining 5 | 7 | No | 22 spawn points plus a Lv. 50 alpha — [Reptyro spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=VolcanicMonster) |
| [Suzaku](https://palworld-db.com/pal/suzaku) | 5 | — | 7 | No | 13 spawn points plus a Lv. 45 alpha — thinnest spawn of any rank 5 — [Suzaku spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=Suzaku) |

### Renjishi Is Rank 8 and Almost Impossible to Farm

[Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) is the only Kindling 8 in the game and it is not a Pal you go and catch. It has no ordinary spawn points anywhere on Palpagos, so the map holds exactly one of them: a Lv. 78 alpha. The good news is the breeding pool is enormous — 48 different pairs hatch a Renjishi, including [Anubis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/anubis) × Blazamut Ryu and Blazamut × [Paladius](https://palworld-db.com/pal/paladius), so once you own one parent line it becomes repeatable. It's also the single best base Pal on this page for reasons beyond the furnace: Handiwork 6, Gathering 5 and Transporting 5 on top of Kindling 8 means it works four of your base's jobs, and the [Handiwork rankings](https://palworld-db.com/best-pals/handiwork) show how rare a 6 in that column is.

### Dupin and Flaracle Are the Rank 7s You Can Actually Catch

One rank below the ceiling, the availability problem disappears. [Dupin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dupin) sits on 81 spawn points with no boss fight involved, carries Handiwork 5 and Medicine Production 4 beside its Kindling 7, and eats 8 — identical appetite to Renjishi for one less rank. [Flaracle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flaracle) is thinner on the map at 26 points but adds a Lv. 68 alpha and a better Handiwork 6, which matters a lot in the Ancient Kitchen section below. If you want one Pal to run a furnace tonight and you're past the mid-game, Dupin is the pick; if you're building toward the ancient stations, Flaracle's Handiwork 6 is worth the extra hunting.

### Whalaska Ignis Is the Only Kindling and Cooling Pal in the Game

This is the strangest fact on this page. The melts materials with fire and then quenches them with ice, so it asks for Kindling **and** Cooling — and out of 288 Pals, [Whalaska Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/whalaska-ignis) is the only one that has both. Kindling 5, Cooling 6, appetite 8, 112 spawn points and a Lv. 74 alpha. Every other base in the game staffs that furnace with two separate Pals; a Whalaska Ignis does it with one slot, which is the difference between a nine-worker base and a ten-worker one. It's also a fine Pal to own before you get there, since Cooling 6 runs your food boxes and egg incubators in the meantime.

### Ghangler Ignis and Blazehowl Noct Are the Volume Picks

If you need a real kindler this evening rather than a breeding project, these two are the answer. [Ghangler Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/ghangler-ignis) is Kindling 5 across **405 spawn points**, 25 times what Suzaku offers at the same rank, and its Watering 5 covers your plantations from the same food slot. [Blazehowl Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazehowl-noct) is the other one: 517 spawn points, Kindling 5, and the lowest appetite of any rank 5 at 6. It's nocturnal, which is not a drawback in a base — a nocturnal worker keeps the furnace lit through the night hours when your daytime crew has gone to sleep, so pairing one Noct variant with one ordinary Pal on the same station is how you get round-the-clock smelting.

## Every Structure That Needs Kindling

Seventeen structures need a Pal with Kindling, and every single one of them asks for rank 1 — there is no Ancient Farm equivalent in this job. What changes across the list is what the station produces: the four furnaces are the whole ingot economy, the four cooking stations are your hunger economy, and the two heaters keep a base habitable in the snow. The lighting group at the bottom is easy to overlook and easy to resent, because a Wall Torch also occupies a kindler's attention. Note the and — both are built to let several Pals work them at once, so those two are where a second and third kindler stop being redundant.

| Structure | Tech Lv. | Kindling | What it does | Build cost |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| | 2 | 1 | Grills simple ingredients — the first cooking you get | 10 [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) |
| | 6 | 1 | Lights the base after dark | 5 Wood · 2 [Stone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Stone) |

One number in that table deserves its own sentence: the costs **200 [Flame Organ](https://palworld-db.com/item/FireOrgan)**, more than the other sixteen structures combined. The full build walkthrough is in the [Gigantic Furnace guide](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-get-gigantic-furnace), and if the organs are what's blocking you, the [Pal organ farming guide](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-get-pal-organs) covers the fastest routes.

## The Ancient Furnace and Ancient Kitchen Want Two Jobs

The two ancient stations don't publish a rank number the way the Ancient Farm does — they simply state that they need Pals with high-level Kindling plus a second suitability, and they're the reason anyone hunts for a rank 7 or 8 lighter at all. The at Tech Lv. 66 smelts every ingot type in the game, including [Coralum Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseIngot) and [Soralite Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkyislandIngot), and it wants **Kindling and Cooling**. The at Tech Lv. 70 wants **Kindling and Handiwork**. The tables below are the honest answer for each: one Pal in the entire game covers the furnace alone, and eighteen cover the kitchen.

| Station | Jobs it wants | Pals that have both | Best single Pal for it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| | Kindling + Cooling | **1 of 288** | [Whalaska Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/whalaska-ignis) — Kindling 5, Cooling 6, and nothing else in the game comes close |
| | Kindling + Handiwork | 18 of 288 | [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) — Kindling 8 with Handiwork 6, the best pairing on the list |

For the kitchen you have real choices, and they split by how hard the Pal is to get. Renjishi is the ceiling but is alpha-and-breeding only; [Flaracle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flaracle) matches its Handiwork 6 with Kindling 7 and actually spawns; [Majex](https://palworld-db.com/pal/majex) is the budget answer at Kindling 4 with Handiwork 5 on 36 spawn points. The table below is the top half of the eighteen.

| Pal | Kindling | Handiwork | Food | Spawn points | Verdict |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) | **8** | **6** | 8 | 0 — alpha only | **Best in the game**, and the hardest to obtain |
| [Flaracle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flaracle) | 7 | **6** | 8 | 26 + Lv. 68 alpha | The realistic pick — same Handiwork, one Kindling rank down |
| [Dupin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dupin) | 7 | 5 | 8 | 81 | Easiest of the strong ones to actually farm |
| [Majex](https://palworld-db.com/pal/majex) | 4 | 5 | 8 | 36 | Nocturnal, and the cheapest way to cover both jobs early |
| [Wixen Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wixen-noct) | 4 | 4 | 4 | 184 | Appetite 4 — the efficiency pick if food is your bottleneck |
| [Loomen](https://palworld-db.com/pal/loomen) | 4 | 4 | 7 | 42 | Adds Medicine Production 4 on the same slot |
| [Sootseer](https://palworld-db.com/pal/sootseer) | 3 | 3 | 7 | **649** | Nothing else on this list is anywhere near as common |
| [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) | 2 | 2 | 5 | **1,990** | The one you'll have before you plan for any of this |

## Speeding Kindling Up: Research, Handbook, and Passives

Every Pal in the game starts on the same base work speed, so the only levers you have are the research lab, the handbook, the Flame Cauldron and the four passive slots. The research branch is the biggest and most ignored of those: six Kindling projects add up to **+45% Kindling speed**, and the same branch quietly holds the ingot-yield, cooking-yield and egg-hatching lines, which is why players who never open the lab wonder where everyone else's ingots come from. The catch is the work cost — the sixth level alone is 10,000,000 work, so treat the top two as a long-term project rather than a checklist.

| Research project | Effect | Work cost | Needs |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Kindling Lv. 1 | +10% Kindling speed | 50,000 | — |
| Kindling Lv. 2 | +5% | 200,000 | Kindling Lv. 1 |
| Flame Cauldron Development | Unlocks the | 200,000 | Kindling Lv. 2 |
| Kindling Lv. 3 | +5% | 500,000 | Flame Cauldron Development |
| Kindling Lv. 4 | +5% | 1,500,000 | Kindling Lv. 3 |
| Kindling Lv. 5 | +10% | 5,000,000 | Kindling Lv. 4 |
| Kindling Lv. 6 | +10% — **+45% in total** | 10,000,000 | Kindling Lv. 5 |
| Refinement Technique Lv. 1-2 | +15% bonus ingots from every smelt | 500,000 + 5,000,000 | Mass Cooking Technique Lv. 1 |
| Mass Cooking Technique Lv. 1-2 | +15% bonus food from every cook | 200,000 + 2,500,000 | Kindling Lv. 2 |
| Incubation Acceleration Lv. 1-4 | +30% egg hatching speed | 200,000 to 5,000,000 | Kindling Lv. 1 |

The is the cheapest permanent boost on this page once that research is done — 20 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot), 30 [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) and 5 [Flame Organ](https://palworld-db.com/item/FireOrgan) to build, and it speeds up fire-making for the whole base just by standing there. Pocketpair hasn't published the exact percentage, so don't plan a build around a specific number, but do note the in-game rule: **placing a second one does nothing**. One per base, then spend the materials elsewhere. The full research ladder and what to unlock first is in the [research lab priority guide](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-research-to-rush).

The handbook is the other permanent upgrade. [Applied Kindling Handbook I](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorkSuitability_AddTicket_EmitFlame) adds **+1 Kindling permanently** to whichever Pal reads it and costs **300 [Dog Coins](https://palworld-db.com/item/DogCoin)** at the Medal Shop, with no stock limit. It lands on that one individual Pal rather than the species, so it belongs on a condensed keeper. Two books are worth more than any others in this job: an [Applied Cooling Handbook I](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorkSuitability_AddTicket_Cool) on your [Whalaska Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/whalaska-ignis), and an [Applied Handiwork Handbook I](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorkSuitability_AddTicket_Handcraft) on your [Flaracle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flaracle) — the full set and who deserves each one is covered in the [handbooks guide](https://palworld-db.com/guides/all-handbooks-and-best-pals).

| Passive | Work Speed | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Demon's Hand | **+90%** | The biggest in the game, but SAN drains 15% faster — pair it with a hot spring |
| Remarkable Craftsmanship | +75% | Pure upside, no drawback |
| Artisan | +50% | The common one you'll actually roll — same family as Remarkable Craftsmanship, so they don't stack |
| Work Slave | +30% | Big for a rank 1 passive |
| Speedy Worker Lv. 4 | +25% | The top rung of the four-level Speedy Worker line |
| Lucky | +20% | Also raises attack — good on a Pal that fights and works |
| Serious | +20% | Rank 1, easy to inherit through breeding |
| Conceited | +10% | Filler when the other three slots are already good |

> **Tip.** Two shortcuts worth more than any single catch. First, [Whalaska Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/whalaska-ignis) is the only Pal in the game with both Kindling and Cooling, so it is the only way to run the Ancient Furnace out of one base slot instead of two — catch one long before you reach Tech Lv. 66. Second, if all you need is a lighter tonight, skip the rank chase entirely: every Kindling structure asks for rank 1, so a [Foxparks](https://palworld-db.com/pal/foxparks) on an appetite of 1 keeps your Primitive Furnace running for a fraction of the food, and you upgrade the worker later without rebuilding anything.

## Flame Organ: The Pals That Light Furnaces Also Build Them

[Flame Organ](https://palworld-db.com/item/FireOrgan) is the material that ties this whole job together — 8 of the 17 Kindling structures cost it, and the Gigantic Furnace alone wants 200. The neat part is that the supply and the labour are the same Pals: **all 37 Pals that drop Flame Organ have Kindling**, which means the thing you catch to staff a furnace is the same thing you butcher or defeat to build the next one. [Blazamut](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut) is the outlier at a guaranteed 10 per kill, double the next best, and [Suzaku](https://palworld-db.com/pal/suzaku) rolls 5-10. If you just want volume rather than a big roll, [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct)'s 4-8 across 1,990 spawn points beats any of them on organs per hour.

| Pal | Flame Organ per kill | Kindling | Spawn points | Why farm this one |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Blazamut](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut) | **10 guaranteed** | 6 | 16 + Lv. 52 alpha | Biggest single haul in the game, and it's a rank 6 kindler you'd want anyway |
| [Suzaku](https://palworld-db.com/pal/suzaku) | 5-10 | 5 | 13 + Lv. 45 alpha | Highest ceiling after Blazamut, but only 13 spawn points |
| [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) | 4-8 | 2 | **1,990** | The volume answer — more organs per hour than any rare Pal |
| [Ragnahawk](https://palworld-db.com/pal/ragnahawk) | 5-7 | 4 | 150 | Good drop on a Pal that's easy to find and rideable |
| [Reptyro](https://palworld-db.com/pal/reptyro) | 5-7 | 5 | 22 + Lv. 50 alpha | Pairs the drop with Mining 5 if you catch it instead |
| [Pyrin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/pyrin) | 4-5 | 4 | 93 | Mid-game workhorse — decent roll, no boss fight needed |
| [Moldron](https://palworld-db.com/pal/moldron) | 4-5 | 5 | 101 | Same roll as Pyrin with a better Kindling rank |
| [Eidrolon Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/eidrolon-ignis) | 4-5 | 6 | 26 | Best drop among the rank 6 kindlers |

## Every Other Kindling Pal

Sixteen Pals sit at Kindling 3 or 4, and this is where most bases are actually staffed — common, cheap, and catchable in bulk long before you meet a rank 7. Three rows stand out. [Chillet Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/chillet-ignis) does Kindling 4 on an appetite of 3, the best rank-per-food ratio of any kindler in the game. [Sootseer](https://palworld-db.com/pal/sootseer) turns up on 649 spawn points, more than any Pal above rank 2. And [Wixen Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wixen-noct) only exists at night — all 184 of its spawn points are night-only, so a daytime sweep will never find one.

| Pal | Kindling | Food | Spawn points | Night shift | Also does |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Chillet Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/chillet-ignis) | 4 | **3** | 52 | No | Gathering 3 |
| [Kitsun Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/kitsun-noct) | 4 | 5 | 340 + Lv. 65 alpha | **Yes** | — (the only non-Fire kindler) |

Below that, twelve Pals hold Kindling 1 or 2, and they're worth naming because they're the ones you'll own on day one: [Bushi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi) (1,838 spawn points), [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) (1,990), [Vanwyrm](https://palworld-db.com/pal/vanwyrm) (545), [Finsider Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/finsider-ignis) (414), [Fuack Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/fuack-ignis) (120), [Gobfin Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/gobfin-ignis) (74) and [Leezpunk Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/leezpunk-ignis) (50) at rank 2, then [Kelpsea Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/kelpsea-ignis) (786), [Rooby](https://palworld-db.com/pal/rooby) (134), [Flambelle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flambelle) (232), [Foxparks](https://palworld-db.com/pal/foxparks) (94) and [Tanzee Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/tanzee-ignis) (27) at rank 1. Since no structure gates on rank, any of them lights a furnace on the first night — Foxparks and Kelpsea Ignis do it on an appetite of 1, which is the cheapest labour in the game.

## The Short Answer

Catch a [Dupin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dupin) and put it on your furnace — Kindling 7 with Handiwork 5, 81 spawn points and no boss fight, which makes it the best kindler you can obtain in an evening. Add a [Whalaska Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/whalaska-ignis) the moment you find one, because it's the only Pal in the game with Kindling and Cooling together and the Ancient Furnace will eventually demand exactly that pairing. If you're early, don't overthink it: every Kindling structure asks for rank 1, so a [Foxparks](https://palworld-db.com/pal/foxparks) runs your on one food slot. And whatever your lighter is, put the research lab's Kindling line ahead of the next catch — **+45% work speed** beats a two-rank upgrade on the Pal.
