Sakurajima is the only place on the map where you can park a late-game base on [Crude Oil](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil) without cooking your Pals in desert heat, and most players still stick a Palbox down next to the first statue they touch. This guide gives you the eight spots worth a base slot with exact coordinates, every node inside each one, the tech levels the payoff is gated behind, and the workers you can catch on the island itself.

## Best Sakurajima Base Locations at a Glance

The island only holds **20** oil fields, **30** Coal and **18** Sulfur, so the spots that matter are the handful where several of those land in one circle. The **Cherry Blossom oil plateau** at **-537, 201** is the outright winner: six oil fields and five Coal on the same patch of ground, which no other pocket on Sakurajima comes close to. If you are only ever going to give the island one of your four base slots, that is the one. Node counts below are everything sitting within **200 m** of the coordinate.

| Base spot | Coordinates | Headline nodes | Nearest statue | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Cherry Blossom oil plateau | **-537, 201** | 6 [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil), 5 [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) | Cherry Blossom Crossroads — 104 m | Best overall |
| Northern oil bowl | **-556, 272** | 6 [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil), 2 [Sulfur](https://palworld-db.com/item/Sulfur) | Cherry Blossom Crossroads — 322 m | Second oil base |
| Mushroom Wetlands core | **-471, 178** | 74 [Mushroom](https://palworld-db.com/item/Mushroom), 4 [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil) | Sakurajima - Mushroom Wetlands — 215 m | Food that feeds itself |
| Northern Rock Field slope | **-587, 342** | 8 [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal), 9 [Paldium](https://palworld-db.com/item/Pal_crystal_S), 6 [Pure Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/Quartz) | Sakurajima - Northern Rock Field — 293 m | Mining |

| The mushroom wall | **-512, 171** | 36 [Mushroom](https://palworld-db.com/item/Mushroom), 4 [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) | Cherry Blossom Crossroads — 196 m | Raid defence |
| Wetlands shelf | **-493, 109** | 2 [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil), 11 [Mushroom](https://palworld-db.com/item/Mushroom) | Sakurajima - Mushroom Wetlands — 162 m | Fishing and dungeons |

Two things separate this island from the mainland picks in our [best base locations guide](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-base-locations). First, nothing here is a heat or cold zone, so you never pay for an Electric Cooler or a Heater to keep work speed up. Second, the oil is shallow and clustered — the island's fields come in pairs, and three of those pairs sit close enough together at **-537, 201** to feed six extractors off one Palbox.

## What Sakurajima Actually Has to Build On

Before you commit a slot, it helps to know what the island is short of. Sakurajima is rich in exactly three things — oil, Mushroom and trees — and poor in everything a mid-game base wants. **14** Ore nodes for the whole island is nothing next to the mainland ore pockets, and there is no Hexolite Quartz or Soralite at all, so this is never going to be your smelting base. Build here for [Crude Oil](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil), food and [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal), and keep your ingot production on the mainland.

| Resource | Nodes on Sakurajima | In the whole game | Turn the layer on |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil) | **20** | 185 | [All oil field pins](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=oilfield) |
| [Mushroom](https://palworld-db.com/item/Mushroom) | **74** | 274 | [All Mushroom nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_mushroom) |
| [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) | **30** | 824 | [All Coal nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_coal) |
| [Paldium Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/Pal_crystal_S) | **23** | 711 | [All Paldium nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_paldiumore) |
| [Sulfur](https://palworld-db.com/item/Sulfur) | **18** | 655 | [All Sulfur nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_sulfur) |
| [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) | **14** | 1,632 | [All Ore nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_copperore) |
| [Pure Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/Quartz) | **8** | 607 | [All Pure Quartz nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_purequartz) |
| [Trees](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) | **290** | 4,654 | [All tree nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_lumber) |
| [Rock](https://palworld-db.com/item/Stone) | **75** | 8,157 | [All rock nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_rock) |

The Mushroom line is the one to stare at. Sakurajima holds **74** of the game's **274** Mushroom nodes in a strip about a kilometre wide, and Mushroom is a food a Lumbering Pal harvests on its own — no plantation, no Watering, no seeds. That single fact is why an island base can run its own kitchen while a mainland ore base cannot.

## Best Overall Base: The Cherry Blossom Oil Plateau

Drop the Palbox at **-537, 201** and six of the island's twenty oil fields fall inside your circle, along with five Coal, 37 loot caches and 34 trees. Six is the ceiling for Sakurajima and it ties the best oil pockets on the mainland — only one spot in the entire game holds more, an eight-field pocket **341 m** from the Mount Obsidian Trail statue, and that one bakes you in volcanic heat. Six running in a normal climate is as good as oil gets.

| Inside 200 m | Count | What it feeds |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil) | **6** | One each — [Polymer](https://palworld-db.com/item/Polymer) and [Plasteel](https://palworld-db.com/item/Plastic) |
| [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) | **5** | [Charcoal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Charcoal) and Refined Ingots without leaving the island |
| [Trees](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) | **34** | A and building materials |
| [Rock](https://palworld-db.com/item/Stone) and small rock | **7** and **28** | Foundations, walls and quarry costs |
| Loot caches | **37** | The densest cache knot of any spot on this list |
| Treasure chests | **4** | Respawning gear and schematics |
| Dungeon entrances | **2** | Nearest is **193 m** — [Cherry Blossom Cave](https://palworld-db.com/guides/cherry-blossom-cave) runs |
| Pal Effigies | **4** | Capture power on the way in and out |

The catch is the **Cherry Blossom Crossroads** statue **104 m** away. A base is its own fast travel point, so building on top of an existing statue wastes that perk — but 104 m is far enough that you keep both, and the statue is the island's most central warp anyway. If you would rather trade oil for a shorter walk to Selyne, shift **80 m** southwest to **-554, 193**: you drop to three oil fields but land **212 m** from Moonflower Tower with a skill fruit tree, 31 caches and two dungeon entrances in range, which turns the base into a staging camp for the [Moonflower Tower XP farm](https://palworld-db.com/guides/moonflower-tower-xp-farm).

## Best Second Oil Base: The Northern Oil Bowl

**-556, 272** is the island's other six-field pocket, and it pulls that off by sitting in the middle of three separate pairs rather than on top of any of them. There is no Coal here, but there are two Sulfur, an Elemental-Sealed Chest and 26 loot caches, and the nearest statue is **322 m** away — far enough that this base adds a genuinely new warp point to the northern half of the island instead of duplicating one.

| Inside 200 m | Count | Why it matters |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil) | **6** | Matches the plateau — the only other six on Sakurajima |
| [Sulfur](https://palworld-db.com/item/Sulfur) | **2** | Gunpowder without a second trip |
| [Trees](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) | **28** | Enough for a |
| Loot caches | **26** | Passive pickups on every log-in |
| Treasure chests | **5** | Plus **1** Elemental-Sealed Chest |
| Dungeon entrance | **1** | **105 m** away, the shortest dungeon walk of any oil spot |
| Nearest statue | **322 m** | Your base becomes the warp point for this half of the island |

Run this one and the plateau together and you are covering **12** of the island's 20 oil fields from two Palboxes. That is the practical ceiling for a Sakurajima oil operation, and it is more than enough throughput to keep [Polymer](https://palworld-db.com/item/Polymer) and [Plasteel](https://palworld-db.com/item/Plastic) production fed for the rest of a save.

## Best Food Base: The Mushroom Wetlands Core

**-471, 178** puts all **74** of Sakurajima's Mushroom nodes inside one base circle. That is not a typo and it is not a fraction of them — the whole island's supply, plus four oil fields, two Coal, seven treasure chests and 30 loot caches. Mushroom is harvested by Lumbering, so a couple of high-Lumbering Pals strip the field and stock the [food box](https://palworld-db.com/guides/list-of-all-food) with zero farm plots and zero Watering, which is the single cheapest food loop in the game.

| Inside 200 m | Count | What it feeds |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Mushroom](https://palworld-db.com/item/Mushroom) | **74** | Every Mushroom node on the island, harvested by Lumbering |
| [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil) | **4** | Four extractors alongside the food |
| [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) | **2** | Small, but enough for [Charcoal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Charcoal) runs |
| [Trees](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) | **32** | The same Lumbering Pals cover both jobs |
| Treasure chests | **7** | The joint-highest chest count on this list |
| Loot caches | **30** | Sweep on every visit |
| Grade 1 egg nests | **6** | Free hatchables next door |
| Nearest statue | **215 m** | Sakurajima - Mushroom Wetlands |

Staff it with [Wumpo Botan](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wumpo-botan) and [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) — both are Lumbering 5, both spawn on the island, and Wumpo Botan carries Transporting 6 on top so it hauls its own harvest to the box. Pair them with [Shroomer](https://palworld-db.com/pal/shroomer) for Farming and this base runs a kitchen for a full server without you touching it.

## Best Mining Base: The Northern Rock Field Slope

Everything metal on Sakurajima lives in the north, and **-587, 342** is where the densest knot of it sits: **8** Coal, **9** Paldium Ore, **6** Pure Quartz, **5** Ore and **3** Sulfur in one circle, plus eight stat lotuses and a skill fruit tree. Eight Coal is the highest count of any spot on the island — more than a quarter of Sakurajima's total supply — and the six Pure Quartz is three quarters of what the island has. There is no oil up here at all, so this is a pure mining slot rather than a mixed one.

| Inside 200 m | Count | Share of the island's total |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) | **8** | 8 of 30 |
| [Paldium Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/Pal_crystal_S) | **9** | 9 of 23 |
| [Pure Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/Quartz) | **6** | 6 of 8 |
| [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) | **5** | 5 of 14 |
| [Sulfur](https://palworld-db.com/item/Sulfur) | **3** | 3 of 18 |
| [Cavern Mushroom](https://palworld-db.com/item/CaveMushroom) | **4** | Medicine materials on site |
| Stat lotuses | **8** | The best lotus cluster on Sakurajima |
| Skill fruit trees | **1** | Rerolls without leaving the base |

This is also the one spot on the island where the pays for itself — it costs **100** Pure Quartz to build, and the six nodes here are the only realistic way to farm that on Sakurajima. Put [Bulldosu](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bulldosu) on it; Mining 4 with Transporting 3 is the best mining stat you can catch without leaving the island, and its spawns are **100%** Sakurajima.

## Best Sulfur Base: The Cemetery Bench

**-635, 310** is the most balanced spot on Sakurajima: **6** Sulfur, **4** oil fields, **4** Coal, **3** Ore and **2** Paldium, with three dungeon entrances inside **132 m** and a rare fishing spot thrown in. Six Sulfur is a third of the island's entire supply and enough to keep ammo production running, which matters because Sakurajima is where you fight things that need it. If you want one base that does a bit of everything, this beats the specialists.

| Inside 200 m | Count | What it feeds |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Sulfur](https://palworld-db.com/item/Sulfur) | **6** | Gunpowder, ammo, and the cost |
| [Oil Fields](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil) | **4** | Four extractors on the same base |
| [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) | **4** | Refined Ingots on site |
| [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) | **3** | Small but real — rare for this island |
| [Trees](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) and [Rock](https://palworld-db.com/item/Stone) | **30** and **10** | Self-sufficient for building materials |
| Dungeon entrances | **3** | Nearest **132 m** — the best dungeon access of any oil spot |
| Stat lotuses | **4** | Permanent stat gains on the doorstep |
| Fishing spots | **2** | One of them rare |

The trade is distance: **261 m** to the Secluded Cemetery statue, which is a real walk when you are hauling. Treat that as a feature rather than a flaw — the base becomes its own warp point in a corner of the island nothing else covers, and the three dungeons in range make it the best place to sleep between [Cherry Blossom Cave](https://palworld-db.com/guides/cherry-blossom-cave) clears.

## Best Raid Defence: The Mushroom Wall

**-512, 171** sits against the giant mushrooms on the north edge of the wetlands, and those mushroom trunks act as terrain. Raiders have to path around them, which funnels an attack into one approach instead of hitting your perimeter from every angle — one gate, one turret line, one rally point. The pocket itself is no slouch either: **36** Mushroom, **4** Coal, **2** oil fields, **7** Grade 1 egg nests and six treasure chests, one of them Elemental-Sealed.

It is also the best-value defensive spot because the terrain does the work you would otherwise pay for in walls. Compare it with the plateau at **-537, 201**, which is open ground on all sides and needs a full perimeter before you can leave Pals unattended. If you play with base raids on and you do not want to spend an evening building stone walls, take this one first and put the oil base somewhere you visit rather than live in.

## Two More Spots Worth a Slot

Neither of these wins a category outright, but both solve a specific problem better than anything above, and with only four base slots on default world settings the deciding factor is usually convenience rather than raw node count.

### Secluded Cemetery Pair — -646, 270

This is the easiest base on the island to actually live in. The Secluded Cemetery statue is **110 m** away, the nearest dungeon entrance is **90 m** — the shortest of any spot here — and the circle holds **34** loot caches, **7** treasure chests, an Elemental-Sealed Chest, two oil fields and two Sulfur. It will never out-produce the plateau, but you warp in, sweep 34 caches, run a dungeon and warp out without ever mounting up. If you are giving Sakurajima a single throwaway slot to farm loot rather than materials, this is it.

### Wetlands Shelf — -493, 109

The southern shelf trades node density for access: a dungeon entrance **40 m** from the Palbox, **5** fishing spots, **11** Mushroom, two oil fields and two Sulfur. Forty metres is close enough that you can reset a dungeon on foot between crafting cycles, and the fishing count is the highest on this list. It is a thin base by material standards — 13 caches and 16 trees — so build it as a dungeon-running outpost with a and a bed, not as a production site.

## What You Need Before You Build Here

Sakurajima's headline resource is locked behind a high tech level, so arriving early means sitting on oil you cannot touch. The is **Tech 50** and needs a power supply, which means a at Tech 26 and an Electric Pal parked on it. Everything else you would want here unlocks much earlier, so an island base is worth taking well before 50 — you just build it for Mushroom, Coal and loot first and bolt the oil on later.

| Structure | Tech level | Materials | Why you want it here |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| | **2** | 1 Paldium Fragment, 8 Wood, 3 Stone | The base itself |
| | **7** | 50 Wood, 20 Stone, 10 Paldium Fragment | 290 trees on the island |
| | **24** | 50 Stone, 25 Ingot, 20 Paldium, 5 Ancient Civilization Parts | Covers for the island's 14 Ore nodes |
| | **26** | 50 Ingot, 20 Electric Organ | Nothing electric runs without it |
| | **37** | 70 Stone, 100 Coal, 30 Paldium, 10 Ancient Civilization Parts | Retires the Coal slope |
| | **46** | 70 Stone, 100 Sulfur, 30 Paldium, 10 Ancient Civilization Parts | Retires the Sulfur bench |
| | **48** | 20 Ingot, 2 Bio Battery, 5 Circuit Board | Faster generation for the extractors |
| | **50** | 250 Pal Metal Ingot, 50 Circuit Board | One per oil field — the whole point |
| | **52** | 70 Stone, 100 Pure Quartz, 30 Paldium, 10 Ancient Civilization Parts | Only affordable off the northern slope |

Base slots are the other gate, and they come off your **base level**, not your character level. You get a second base at base level 8, a third at 15 and a fourth at 25, and four is the ceiling on default world settings — a dedicated host can raise it. That budget is why the plateau matters so much: one slot covering six oil fields beats two slots covering three each.

## Best Pals to Staff a Sakurajima Base

You do not need to ship a workforce over. Sakurajima's own spawn table covers Lumbering, Mining, Handiwork and Generating Electricity at rank 4 or better, and several of those Pals exist nowhere else in the game. [Wumpo Botan](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wumpo-botan) is the standout — Lumbering 5 and Transporting 6 in one body, and **100%** of its spawn points are on this island. For the oil bases, [Helzephyr Lux](https://palworld-db.com/pal/helzephyr-lux) is the one to catch: Generating Electricity 4 is what keeps the extractors turning, and it spawns **77** points here.

| Pal | Best work here | Other jobs | Spawn points on Sakurajima |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Wumpo Botan](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wumpo-botan) | Lumbering **5** | Transporting 6, Planting 3, Handiwork 3 | **83** — 100% of its spawns |
| [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) | Lumbering **5** | Kindling 2, Handiwork 2, Transporting 2 | **343** — 17% of its spawns |
| [Verdash](https://palworld-db.com/pal/verdash) | Handiwork **5** | Gathering 5, Planting 4, Lumbering 3 | **83** — 100% of its spawns |
| [Helzephyr Lux](https://palworld-db.com/pal/helzephyr-lux) | Generating Electricity **4** | Transporting 5 | **77** — 96% of its spawns |
| [Bulldosu](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bulldosu) | Mining **4** | Transporting 3 | **52** — 100% of its spawns |
| [Dogen](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dogen) | Handiwork **4** | Gathering 3, Lumbering 3, Transporting 3 | **52** — 100% of its spawns |
| [Wixen Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wixen-noct) | Kindling **4** | Handiwork 4, Transporting 2 | **174** — 95% of its spawns |
| [Quivern Botan](https://palworld-db.com/pal/quivern-botan) | Planting **5** | Transporting 4, Gathering 4, Mining 3 | **49** — 83% of its spawns |
| [Penking Lux](https://palworld-db.com/pal/penking-lux) | Mining **3** | Generating Electricity 3, Transporting 3 | **144** — 57% of its spawns |
| [Sootseer](https://palworld-db.com/pal/sootseer) | Mining **3** | Kindling 3, Handiwork 3, Farming 2 | **343** — 53% of its spawns |

The gap in that list is Watering, and it barely matters on Sakurajima because the Mushroom fields replace the plantation a normal food base needs. If you do want plots, [Ghangler](https://palworld-db.com/pal/ghangler) is Watering 5 and has **144** spawn points on the island. Work speed is where you make the real gains, so read [the best passives for base Pals](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-passives-for-base-pals) before you lock a roster in.

> **Tip.** Build the oil base *before* you hit Tech 50. Extractors cost 250 Pal Metal Ingot and 50 Circuit Board each, and six of them is a serious haul — having the Palbox, the [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) supply and the power already running on site means you can place them the moment the tech unlocks instead of spending another evening ferrying materials across the water.

## When a Sakurajima Base Stops Paying

Most resource bases have an expiry date, because the tech tree eventually hands you a quarry that makes the same material anywhere. Coal bases die at Tech 37, Sulfur bases at Tech 46, Pure Quartz at Tech 52 — after those unlocks the Northern Rock Field slope and the Cemetery bench are just scenery. Oil is the exception that makes this island worth a permanent slot: there is no oil quarry, and the only structure that produces [Crude Oil](https://palworld-db.com/item/CrudeOil) without a field is the at **Tech 51**, which costs 300 Pal Metal Ingot, 50 Circuit Board, 50 Bio Battery and 10 Ancient Civilization Parts *and* draws far more electricity than the standard pump.

| Base spot | Retired by | Tech level | Verdict |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Northern Rock Field slope | and | **37** / **52** | Temporary — tear it down after 52 |
| Cemetery sulfur bench | | **46** | Temporary, but the oil and dungeons keep it useful |
| Cherry Blossom oil plateau | Nothing cheap | — | Permanent — six fields is six free extractors |
| Northern oil bowl | Nothing cheap | — | Permanent |
| Mushroom Wetlands core | Nothing | — | Permanent — no structure grows Mushroom |
| The mushroom wall | Nothing | — | Permanent if you play with raids on |

That table is the reason to spend your slots in a particular order. Take the Mushroom core and the oil plateau as long-term homes, and treat the mining slope as a rental — build it, mine the **100** Pure Quartz the costs, unlock the quarry, then bulldoze it and give the slot to something permanent.

## Summary

If you only take one Sakurajima base, put the Palbox at **-537, 201** — six oil fields and five Coal in a normal climate, **104 m** from the Cherry Blossom Crossroads statue. Add **-471, 178** for a food base that harvests all **74** of the island's Mushroom nodes with Lumbering Pals you catch on site, and **-556, 272** if you want a second six-field oil pocket. The northern slope at **-587, 342** is worth a temporary slot purely to afford the , and **-512, 171** is the pick if base raids are on and you would rather let the mushrooms be your walls. Everything else on the island is a fast travel statue away.
