Ingots are the choke point on almost everything worth building in Palworld — guns, armor, saddles, and half the base structures all wait on a furnace finishing a bar. This guide covers all seven ingot types and what each costs in raw material, the five furnaces that smelt them, the Kindling Pals worth staffing those furnaces with, and the two Pals that drop finished [Ingots](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) so you can skip smelting entirely.

## Ingots at a Glance

When someone says "Ingot" with no adjective, they mean the plain one: two [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) melted in a [Primitive Furnace](https://palworld-db.com/structures?q=Primitive%20Furnace), unlocked at technology level 10 for 3 points. It is the cheapest thing a furnace makes and by far the most demanded — more than 150 crafting recipes list it, from your first [Handgun](https://palworld-db.com/item/HandGun_Default) at 50 a piece to the [Helmet](https://palworld-db.com/item/Head006) at 20. Everything below is measured against it.

| What | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Item type | Material — the base smelted metal |
| Recipe | [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) x2 → 1 Ingot |
| First furnace | Primitive Furnace, technology level 10 (3 points) |
| Sells for | 240 Gold each |
| Weight | 5 per unit |
| Stack size | 9,999 |
| Dropped by | [Bushi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi) and [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct), 2-3 at 100% |
| Also found in | Grasslands treasure chests, 2.86% of that slot's rolls |

## Every Ingot Type and What It Costs

Seven bars come out of the furnace line, and they are not a smooth curve — the jumps are brutal. A [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) takes seven times the smelting work of a plain Ingot, a [Pal Metal Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/StealIngot) takes fifty times, and a [Coralum Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseIngot) takes five hundred times. The work column below is the in-game smelting effort, so treat it as how long a bar occupies your furnace relative to the others, not as seconds. The practical read: plain Ingots and Refined Ingots are things you mass-produce in the background, while anything from Pal Metal upward is a deliberate production run you plan a base around.

| Ingot | Materials | Smelting work | Sells for | Weight |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) | [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) x2 | 1,000 | 240 Gold | 5 |
| [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) | [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) x2, [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) x2 | 7,000 | 720 Gold | 5 |
| [Pal Metal Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/StealIngot) | [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) x4, [Pure Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/Quartz) x1, [Paldium Fragment](https://palworld-db.com/item/Pal_crystal_S) x2 | 50,000 | 1,250 Gold | 5 |
| [Hexolite](https://palworld-db.com/item/StainlessSteel) | [Chromite](https://palworld-db.com/item/Chromium) x1, [Hexolite Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/RainbowCrystal) x1 | 500,000 | 3,000 Gold | 1 |
| [Coralum Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseIngot) | [Coralum Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseOre) x2, [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) x5 | 500,000 | 6,000 Gold | 3 |
| [Soralite Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkyislandIngot) | [Soralite](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkyIslandOre) x2, [Pure Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/Quartz) x2 | 700,000 | 7,200 Gold | 3 |
| [Paloxite Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorldTreeIngot) | [Soralite](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkyIslandOre) x1, [Paloxite](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorldTreeOre) x2, [World Tree Holy Water](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorldTreeHolyWater) x1 | 1,000,000 | 16,200 Gold | 3 |

Two of these are odd ones out. [Hexolite](https://palworld-db.com/item/StainlessSteel) isn't really part of the Ore chain at all — it takes no [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) and no [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal), just [Chromite](https://palworld-db.com/item/Chromium) and [Hexolite Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/RainbowCrystal), and at 1 weight per bar it's the only ingot you can stockpile without wrecking your carry capacity. [Paloxite Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorldTreeIngot) is the endgame wall: it needs a bar's worth of three separate late materials including [World Tree Holy Water](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorldTreeHolyWater), which is why it sells for 16,200 Gold, 67x the plain Ingot.

## The Furnace Chain: Every Smelter and What It Unlocks

Five furnaces exist and each one is gated behind a technology level, so your ingot ceiling is really your tech level. The important thing almost nobody notices: every furnace only asks for Kindling rank 1 to operate. Any fire Pal at all can light it — rank just decides how fast the bar finishes. That means the upgrade path below matters far more than the Pal you throw in on day one.

| Furnace | Tech Lv | Points | Build cost | Unlocks |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Primitive Furnace | 10 | 3 | [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) x20, [Stone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Stone) x40, [Flame Organ](https://palworld-db.com/item/FireOrgan) x3 | [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) |

| Electric Furnace | 44 | 5 | [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) x50, [Bio Battery](https://palworld-db.com/item/Bio_Battery) x4, [Polymer](https://palworld-db.com/item/Polymer) x20, [Cryogenic Coolant](https://palworld-db.com/item/Bio_Coolant) x10 | [Pal Metal Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/StealIngot) |

### Primitive Furnace

Twenty [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood), forty [Stone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Stone) and three [Flame Organ](https://palworld-db.com/item/FireOrgan) is the cheapest gate in the whole game, and you should clear it the moment you hit level 10. Flame Organ is the only awkward part — any fire Pal drops it, and [Foxparks](https://palworld-db.com/pal/foxparks) in the Grasslands will cover it in a couple of fights. Build two of these instead of one; smelting speed at this tier is slow enough that a second furnace is worth more than a better Pal.

### Improved Furnace

This is the real quality-of-life jump, because [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) is what most mid-game weapons and armor actually ask for. The build cost adds [Cement](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cement) x30 and [Cryogenic Coolant](https://palworld-db.com/item/Bio_Coolant) x5, so line up a cement pipeline before you spend the 4 technology points. From here on your bottleneck stops being furnaces and starts being [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) — each Refined Ingot eats two.

### Electric Furnace

The Electric Furnace unlocks [Pal Metal Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/StealIngot) and is the first one that needs power, so it wants a generator and an electricity Pal on top of the Kindling Pal. It also costs 50 [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) to build, which is a full production run in itself. It processes faster than the earlier tiers, and you'll want that: a single Pal Metal Ingot is fifty times the smelting work of a plain one, and a [Gatling Gun](https://palworld-db.com/item/GatlingGun) alone wants 150 of them.

### Gigantic Furnace

The Gigantic Furnace is the only one multiple Pals can work at once, which is the whole point — by the time you're smelting [Hexolite](https://palworld-db.com/item/StainlessSteel), single-worker throughput is hopeless. It's also the most expensive to put up, with 200 [Flame Organ](https://palworld-db.com/item/FireOrgan) and 150 [Plasteel](https://palworld-db.com/item/Plastic) in the recipe. Staff it with your three best Kindling Pals and leave it running permanently.

### Ancient Furnace

The endgame smelter, and the one furnace that handles every ingot type in the game. It works by melting with fire and then flash-cooling, so it wants high-level Kindling **and** high-level Cooling Pals — the only furnace that asks for two work suitabilities. Building it costs 100 [Coralum Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseIngot) and 10 [Ancient Civilization Core](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientParts2), so it's a project, not a purchase.

## Best Kindling Pals for Your Furnaces

Because every furnace only requires Kindling rank 1, the ranking below is purely about speed and about what else the Pal does while it's standing there. [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) is the only Kindling 8 in the game and it also brings Handiwork 6, so it works your assembly lines between smelts — it's the single best furnace Pal if you can catch one. Below that, [Jormuntide Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jormuntide-ignis) is the classic pick because it does nothing but Kindling at rank 7 and never wanders off to another job, which matters more than raw rank when your base has ten stations competing for workers. [Dupin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dupin) and [Flaracle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flaracle) match it at 7 but split their time with Handiwork.

| Pal | Kindling | Also does | Why bring it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) | 8 | Handiwork 6, Gathering 5, Transporting 5 | Only rank 8 Kindling Pal — fastest smelts, and useful when the furnace is idle |
| [Jormuntide Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jormuntide-ignis) | 7 | — | No competing suitabilities, so it never leaves the furnace |
| [Flaracle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/flaracle) | 7 | Handiwork 6 | Rank 7 heat plus a genuinely strong crafter |
| [Dupin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dupin) | 7 | Handiwork 5, Medicine Production 4 | Covers the medicine bench on the same base |
| [Blazamut](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut) | 6 | Mining 7 | Mines the Ore and then smelts it — a one-Pal ingot pipeline |
| [Faleris](https://palworld-db.com/pal/faleris) | 6 | Transporting 3 | Easy rank 6 that also hauls finished bars to storage |
| [Knocklem Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/knocklem-ignis) | 5 | Mining 7, Transporting 7 | The best all-rounder for a dedicated ingot base |
| [Bushi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi) | 2 | Lumbering 3, Handiwork 2 | Weak heat, but it's the Pal that drops Ingots outright |
| [Foxparks](https://palworld-db.com/pal/foxparks) | 1 | — | Your day-one furnace lighter and Flame Organ source |

### The Ancient Furnace Also Needs Cooling

The Ancient Furnace is the one place where a Cooling Pal is a production requirement instead of a food-preservation convenience. [Bastigor](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bastigor) is the only Cooling 8 and it throws in Lumbering 6 and Mining 5, making it the obvious partner; [Frostallion](https://palworld-db.com/pal/frostallion) at Cooling 7 is the alternative if you already have one for other reasons. Assign one of each alongside your Kindling Pal and the furnace runs at full tilt. The [Best Pals for Cooling: Ranks, Spawns, and Coolers](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-pals-for-cooling) list covers the other 36.

## Feeding the Furnaces: Ore, Coal, and Quartz

A furnace is only as good as its input pile, and the four raw materials below cover every ingot up to Coralum. [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) is the one you'll never have enough of — 1,632 nodes are mapped across the islands, roughly double the [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) count, and you'll still run out because a single Pal Metal Ingot eats four. [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) is the sneaky bottleneck once you move to Refined Ingots, and it's concentrated in the desert and volcanic regions rather than spread evenly. If you're setting up a dedicated smelting base, put it where Ore and Coal nodes overlap and let a Mining Pal keep the chests full.

| Material | Nodes on the map | Sells | Weight | Feeds |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) | [1,632 nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_copperore) | 100 Gold | 8 | Ingot, Refined Ingot, Pal Metal Ingot |
| [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) | [824 nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_coal) | 200 Gold | 5 | Refined Ingot, Coralum Ingot |
| [Pure Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/Quartz) | [607 nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_purequartz) | 500 Gold | 5 | Pal Metal Ingot, Soralite Ingot |
| [Paldium Fragment](https://palworld-db.com/item/Pal_crystal_S) | [711 nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_paldiumore) | 70 Gold | 1 | Pal Metal Ingot |
| [Hexolite Quartz](https://palworld-db.com/item/RainbowCrystal) | [635 nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_hexolitequartz) | 1,000 Gold | 2 | Hexolite |
| [Soralite](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkyIslandOre) | [226 nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_soralite) | 2,500 Gold | 5 | Soralite Ingot, Paloxite Ingot |

Soralite is the scarcest of the lot at 226 nodes, which is why [Paloxite Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorldTreeIngot) production stays slow no matter how many furnaces you own. You can also skip the pickaxe entirely for the common stuff: [Pierdon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/pierdon) drops 4-5 [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) and 4-5 [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) per kill at 100%, [Blazamut](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut) drops a guaranteed 10 [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal), and [Digtoise](https://palworld-db.com/pal/digtoise) gives 2-3 Ore. Full breakdown in the [How to Farm Ore: Best Locations and Mining Site Setup](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-farm-ore) guide.

## Ingots Without a Furnace

You can farm finished [Ingots](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) directly, and early on it's genuinely faster than mining. [Bushi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi) and [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) both drop 2-3 Ingots on every single kill — a guaranteed 100% drop, no rare roll involved. That's the equivalent of 4-6 Ore plus the smelting time, handed over for one fight. There's a neat symmetry here too: Bushi is itself a Kindling 2 Pal, so the thing that drops your Ingots can also light the furnace that makes more.

| Source | Ingot | Rate | Amount |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Bushi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi) | [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) | 100% | 2-3 per kill |
| [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) | [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) | 100% | 2-3 per kill |
| Grasslands treasure chests | [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) | 2.86% of that slot's rolls | 1 |
| Forest treasure chests | [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) | 4.67% of that slot's rolls | 1 |

Chests are not a farming strategy — a sub-5% slot roll for one bar is pocket change next to a Bushi route. Use [Bushi's spawn locations](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=Ronin) to set up a loop and treat chests as a bonus you pick up on the way. Nothing above tier one drops finished: [Pal Metal Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/StealIngot) and everything past it must be smelted, with no Pal or chest shortcut anywhere in the game.

## Smelting Math: Never Haul Raw Ore Home

Two things happen in the furnace and both are worth exploiting. First, weight collapses. Two [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) weigh 16 and become one Ingot weighing 5 — a 69% cut. A [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) compresses 26 weight of Ore and Coal into 5, an 81% cut, and a [Pal Metal Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/StealIngot) compresses 39 into 5. If you're overloaded in the field, the answer is a furnace at a forward base, not a bigger backpack.

Second, value climbs by a flat 20%. Every single ingot in the game sells for exactly 1.2x the combined shop value of its ingredients: 200 Gold of Ore becomes a 240 Gold Ingot, 600 becomes 720, 5,000 of [Coralum Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseOre) and [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) becomes a 6,000 Gold [Coralum Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseIngot), and 13,500 of late materials becomes a 16,200 Gold [Paloxite Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorldTreeIngot). If you're selling raw materials to a merchant, you're leaving a fifth of the money on the table.

> **Tip.** **Smelt before you sell, and smelt before you walk home.** The 20% markup applies to every ingot tier, and the weight saving is between 69% and 87%. The one exception worth knowing: [Hexolite](https://palworld-db.com/item/StainlessSteel) weighs just 1 per bar, so it's the only ingot you can stockpile in bulk without carry-weight gear.

## What Ingots Are Used For

Demand is heavily front-loaded: the plain [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) appears in more than 150 recipes, [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) in over 100, and the exotic bars in a couple of dozen each. That inverts the usual instinct — you will burn more hours making tier-one Ingots across a playthrough than any other bar, because accessories, ammo and every armor upgrade quietly keep asking for them long after you've moved on. The biggest single sinks are late weapons: [Gatling Gun](https://palworld-db.com/item/GatlingGun) wants 150 [Pal Metal Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/StealIngot), and [Charge Rifle](https://palworld-db.com/item/ChargeLaserRifle) wants 200 [Coralum Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseIngot).

| Ingot | Recipes using it | Biggest sinks |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) | 150+ | [Makeshift Assault Rifle](https://palworld-db.com/item/MakeshiftAssaultRifle) x70, [Old Revolver](https://palworld-db.com/item/OldRevolver) x60, armor and accessory upgrades |
| [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot) | 100+ | [Semi-Auto Shotgun](https://palworld-db.com/item/SemiAutoShotgun) x50, [Scatter Sphere Launcher](https://palworld-db.com/item/SphereLauncher) x50, Electric Furnace x50 |
| [Pal Metal Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/StealIngot) | 44 | [Gatling Gun](https://palworld-db.com/item/GatlingGun) x150, [Guided Missile Launcher](https://palworld-db.com/item/GuidedMissileLauncher) x100, [Laser Rifle](https://palworld-db.com/item/LaserRifle) x50 |
| [Coralum Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/ManganeseIngot) | 22 | [Charge Rifle](https://palworld-db.com/item/ChargeLaserRifle) x200, [Overheat Rifle](https://palworld-db.com/item/OverheatRifle) x160, Ancient Furnace x100 |

Note that a Pal Metal Ingot also pays out roughly 16x the crafting experience of a plain Ingot, and a Coralum Ingot around 43x, so a long smelting queue is a quietly strong way to level while you're doing something else. If you're deciding what to spend those bars on first, [Best Weapons at Every Tech Level](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-weapons-by-tech-level) and [Best Armor at Every Tech Level](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-armor-by-tech-level) map the upgrade order.

## Summary

Build a Primitive Furnace at level 10 and two more beside it, kill [Bushi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi) for free Ingots while you're still poor, and put your base where [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) and [Coal](https://palworld-db.com/item/Coal) nodes overlap. Upgrade at tech 34, 44, 58 and 66 as the recipes demand, staff with the highest Kindling Pal you own rather than worrying about rank requirements, and always smelt before you sell — it's a free 20%.
