The Medicine Rack is the level 24 Infrastructure shelf that lets sick base Pals walk over and dose themselves instead of waiting on you to open their menu one at a time. This guide covers the technology cost, the three build materials and the raw pile underneath them, which Medical Supplies cure which ailment, and the Pals worth parking on a medicine bench to keep the shelf full.

## Medicine Rack at a Glance

This is a passive shelf, not a workstation — it has no worker slot, so it never eats one of your base Pals' assignments the way the Clinic on the same technology row does. That makes it the cheapest health fix in the game to run: build it once, drop medicine inside, and it works for free forever. The only real cost is the 40 [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) that turns into its 20 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot), which is why the [Ore Mining Site](https://palworld-db.com/structures?q=Ore%20Mining%20Site) unlocking on the exact same row is such convenient timing.

| What | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Type | Base structure, **Infrastructure** tab of the build menu |
| Technology level | Lv. 24 |
| Technology points | 2 |
| Materials | 20 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot), 5 [Cloth](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cloth), 3 [Wooden Board](https://palworld-db.com/item/Processed_Wood) |
| Raw cost | 42 [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre), 38 [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood), 10 [Wool](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wool) |
| Worker needed | None — Pals use it on their own |
| What it does | Stores medicine; sick Pals come to it and take what they need |
| Power draw | None |
| Same row | [Clinic](https://palworld-db.com/structures?q=Clinic) (2 points), [Fluffy Pal Bed](https://palworld-db.com/structures?q=Fluffy%20Pal%20Bed) (2 points), Ore Mining Site (2 points) |

## How to Unlock the Medicine Rack

Hit character level 24, open the [Palworld technology tree](https://palworld-db.com/research), and spend 2 points. That part is trivial — the problem is that level 24 is one of the busiest rows in the tree, with nine technologies asking for 19 points in total, and most players arrive with far fewer banked. If you have to prioritise, the Medicine Rack and the Clinic are the two that pay you back every single in-game day, while the three saddles only matter for the specific Pal you actually ride. Check [how to get more technology points](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-get-technology-points) if the row leaves you short.

| Technology at Lv. 24 | Points | Take it? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Medicine Rack | 2 | Yes — self-serve treatment with no worker slot spent |
| Clinic | 2 | Yes — cuts SAN drain and heads off illness before it starts |
| Ore Mining Site | 2 | Yes — Ore is the bottleneck on this whole row |
| Fluffy Pal Bed | 2 | Yes — injured Pals rest on it, and better sleep means less illness |
| [Makeshift Handgun](https://palworld-db.com/item/MakeshiftHandgun) | 3 | Only if you skipped the earlier firearm tier |
| Flower Bed | 2 | No — pure decoration |
| Azurobe Saddle | 2 | Only if you ride [Azurobe](https://palworld-db.com/pal/azurobe) |
| Dinossom Saddle | 2 | Only if you ride [Dinossom](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dinossom) |
| Foxparks Cryst's Harness | 2 | Only if you use [Foxparks Cryst](https://palworld-db.com/pal/foxparks-cryst) as a flamethrower |

## Build Materials and Where to Make Them

Three materials, two stations, nothing exotic. The 20 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) is the whole bill in practice — 40 [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) goes into the furnace for it, plus another two for the nails inside the boards. The [Cloth](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cloth) and [Wooden Board](https://palworld-db.com/item/Processed_Wood) both come off a Primitive Workbench in a couple of minutes. Add it all up and the rack costs 42 Ore, 38 Wood and 10 [Wool](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wool), or roughly 6,650 gold of raw material at merchant prices, which is nothing for a permanent base fixture.

| Material | Qty | Made at | Recipe per unit | Raw total |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) | 20 | Primitive Furnace (Lv. 10) | 2 [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) | 40 Ore |
| [Cloth](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cloth) | 5 | Primitive Workbench | 2 [Wool](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wool) | 10 Wool |
| [Wooden Board](https://palworld-db.com/item/Processed_Wood) | 3 | Primitive Workbench | 10 [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) + 5 [Fiber](https://palworld-db.com/item/Fiber) + 1 [Nail](https://palworld-db.com/item/MachineParts) | 30 Wood, 15 Fiber, 3 Nails |

### Fastest Sources for the Raw Materials

Ore is the only line that can actually stall you, and there is no shortage of it on the map — 1,632 Ore nodes are scattered across the Palpagos Islands, so the real question is whether one sits inside your base radius. If it does, the Ore Mining Site from this same technology row turns those nodes into a hands-off supply. Wool is easier: a [Ranch](https://palworld-db.com/ranch) with a couple of sheep Pals covers the 10 you need overnight, and [Lamball](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lamball) is both the most common of them and the one you probably caught in the first hour.

| Raw material | Need | Best source |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) | 42 | [1,632 Ore nodes on the map](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_copperore), or an Ore Mining Site inside the base |
| [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood) | 38 | [4,654 lumber nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_lumber), or a Logging Site from Lv. 7 |
| [Wool](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wool) | 10 | Ranch: [Lamball](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lamball), [Melpaca](https://palworld-db.com/pal/melpaca) or [Cremis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/cremis); Melpaca also drops 2-5 when defeated |

## What the Medicine Rack Does

Base Pals pick up ailments while they work — they get sick, sprain something, catch an ulcer, break a bone, or slide into Weakened and Depressed as their SAN falls. Normally you notice the little icon hours later and hand-feed the cure. With a Medicine Rack placed and stocked, an afflicted Pal walks to the shelf and treats itself, which means a colony of twenty workers no longer needs you playing nurse. The catch is in the name: it is a shelf, not a factory. It dispenses what you put in it and nothing more, so an empty rack is decoration.

Where you place it matters more than people expect. Pals path to it from wherever they are working, so a rack buried behind three walls at the far corner of a big base costs each sick Pal a long round trip. Drop it near the middle of your work floor, ideally beside the [Clinic](https://palworld-db.com/structures?q=Clinic) and the Pal beds, so the whole health cluster sits in one place.

> **Tip.** Prevention beats treatment. The Clinic on this same row reduces SAN depletion and cuts down on illness in the first place, and a hot spring plus a decent bed keeps SAN topped up — see [the best food for SAN and hot springs](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-food-for-san). Use the rack as the safety net, not as the plan.

## Which Medicine to Stock

Three tiers of Medical Supplies exist, and they are not upgrades of each other — each one cures a different set of ailments, so a rack holding only the expensive tier still leaves a Pal with a sprain untreated. Keep a stack of all three inside. None of them restore HP, which surprises people: the Recovery Meds line does the healing, the Medical Supplies line does the curing. [Low Grade Medical Supplies](https://palworld-db.com/item/Herbs) is the one you burn through fastest and the cheapest to mass-produce at 5 [Red Berries](https://palworld-db.com/item/Berries) and 2 [Horn](https://palworld-db.com/item/Horn) a pop, while [High Grade Medical Supplies](https://palworld-db.com/item/LuxuryMedicines) is the one worth buying from merchants when you are short, since Weakened and Depressed hit exactly when a Pal is already dragging your base output down.

| Medicine | Cures | Craft cost | Merchant price |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Low Grade Medical Supplies](https://palworld-db.com/item/Herbs) | Sick, Sprain, Overfull | 5 [Red Berries](https://palworld-db.com/item/Berries), 2 [Horn](https://palworld-db.com/item/Horn) | 780 Gold |
| [Medical Supplies](https://palworld-db.com/item/Medicines) | Ulcer, Fracture | 3 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot), 3 [Horn](https://palworld-db.com/item/Horn), 1 [Bone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Bone) | 1,820 Gold |
| [High Grade Medical Supplies](https://palworld-db.com/item/LuxuryMedicines) | Weakened, Depressed | 5 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot), 5 [Horn](https://palworld-db.com/item/Horn), 2 [Bone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Bone) | 3,120 Gold |

All three are sold by the Village, Caravan, Desert, Volcano and Wander merchant families, so a shopping run is a legitimate substitute for crafting early on — [the full merchant stock list](https://palworld-db.com/merchants) shows who carries what. They also turn up in chests: Low Grade in the early caverns like Hillside Cavern and Ravine Grotto, Medical Supplies in mid-game spots such as Volcanic Cavern and Cherry Blossom Cave, and High Grade mostly out in Feybreak Cavern and the oil rig crates.

### Horn and Bone Farming

Two of the three recipes lean on [Horn](https://palworld-db.com/item/Horn) and [Bone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Bone), and both drop at a guaranteed 100% rate from the right Pals, so a single farming loop keeps the rack stocked indefinitely. [Elgrove](https://palworld-db.com/pal/elgrove) is the best Horn target of the wild spawns at 2-3 per kill, with [Eikthyrdeer](https://palworld-db.com/pal/eikthyrdeer) a flat 2 and far easier to find at low level. For Bone, [Anubis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/anubis) gives the biggest haul at 3-5, though [Cawgnito](https://palworld-db.com/pal/cawgnito) at 2-4 is the one you can farm at night without a fight you have to plan around. Both Bone Pals can also be parked on a [Ranch](https://palworld-db.com/ranch) to produce it passively.

| Material | Best Pal | Drop | Alternative |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Horn](https://palworld-db.com/item/Horn) | [Elgrove](https://palworld-db.com/pal/elgrove) | 2-3, 100% | [Eikthyrdeer](https://palworld-db.com/pal/eikthyrdeer) (2), [Caprity](https://palworld-db.com/pal/caprity) (1-2) |
| [Bone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Bone) | [Anubis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/anubis) | 3-5, 100% | [Cawgnito](https://palworld-db.com/pal/cawgnito) (2-4), Ranch production |

## Where the Medicine Comes From

The rack does not make medicine — a medicine workbench does, and there are three of them. The [Medieval Medicine Workbench](https://palworld-db.com/structures?q=Medieval%20Medicine%20Workbench) unlocks 12 levels before the rack for 30 [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood), 5 [Nail](https://palworld-db.com/item/MachineParts) and 10 Paldium Fragment, needs no electricity, and handles every Medical Supplies tier you actually need for ailments. That is the one to build alongside the rack. The later benches exist for the Recovery Meds and [Revival Potion](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalRevive) end of the catalogue — the full breakdown is in [the Advanced Medicine Workbench guide](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-get-advanced-medicine-workbench). Worth noting separately: the Witch Cauldron at Lv. 32 speeds up medicine manufacturing across your base, and building a second one does nothing, so place exactly one.

| Bench | Tech level | Materials | Power | Worth building? |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| | Lv. 12 | 30 [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood), 5 [Nail](https://palworld-db.com/item/MachineParts), 10 Paldium Fragment | None | Yes — the natural partner for the rack |
| | Lv. 43 | 40 [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot), 10 [Circuit Board](https://palworld-db.com/item/MachineParts2), 10 [Carbon Fiber](https://palworld-db.com/item/CarbonFiber) | 50 | Mid-game upgrade once you have a generator |
| | Lv. 61 | 50 [Hexolite](https://palworld-db.com/item/StainlessSteel), 50 [Plasteel](https://palworld-db.com/item/Plastic), 30 [Circuit Board](https://palworld-db.com/item/MachineParts2) | 1,000 | Endgame only — it is the Revival Potion bench |
| | Lv. 32 | 10 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot), 20 [Stone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Stone), 5 [Cryogenic Coolant](https://palworld-db.com/item/Bio_Coolant), 3 [High Quality Pal Oil](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalOil) | None | One only — duplicates give no extra speed |

## Best Pals to Brew the Refills

Medicine Production is one of the rarer work suitabilities — only 43 Pals have it at all, and just 11 of them reach Lv. 5 or better. [Silvance](https://palworld-db.com/pal/silvance) is the only Pal in the game with Lv. 8, which makes it the outright best bench worker, and it doubles as a Lv. 6 Planting and Handiwork body when the bench queue is empty. If Silvance is out of reach, [Wistella](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wistella) is the practical pick: Lv. 6 Medicine Production on a common Pal you can breed early, versus Lv. 7 on a raid boss like [Bellanoir Libero](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bellanoir-libero) that most players will not have for a long while. [Dandilord](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dandilord) is the value pick if you want one Pal covering the medicine bench and the plantation at once.

| Pal | Medicine Production | Other jobs | Why it works |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Silvance](https://palworld-db.com/pal/silvance) | Lv. 8 | Planting 6, Handiwork 6 | The only Lv. 8 in the game — nothing brews faster |
| [Bellanoir Libero](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bellanoir-libero) | Lv. 7 | Handiwork 6, Transporting 4 | Raid-boss tier, so it is a trophy worker rather than a plan |
| [Lyleen Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lyleen-noct) | Lv. 7 | Gathering 6, Handiwork 5 | Best Lv. 7 you can realistically catch or breed |
| [Dandilord](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dandilord) | Lv. 6 | Planting 8, Handiwork 6 | Runs the medicine bench and the plantation on one slot |
| [Wistella](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wistella) | Lv. 6 | Handiwork 6, Transporting 1 | The early-access pick — common and cheap to breed |
| [Selyne](https://palworld-db.com/pal/selyne) | Lv. 6 | Handiwork 7, Transporting 3 | Strongest all-round base body on this list |
| [Mycora](https://palworld-db.com/pal/mycora) | Lv. 6 | Planting 6, Handiwork 4 | Pairs medicine work with berry farming |
| [Venusa](https://palworld-db.com/pal/venusa) | Lv. 5 | Handiwork 6, Gathering 6 | Solid filler if your medicine demand is light |

Slot whichever one you land on into the bench rather than leaving it to base wandering, and check [the full Medicine Production Pal list](https://palworld-db.com/best-pals/medicine-production) for the other 35 options if none of these are in your box yet.

## Build These Alongside It

The Medicine Rack is one piece of a small health cluster, and the rest of it is cheap. The Clinic is the big one — same level, same 2 points, and it attacks the problem upstream by reducing SAN depletion and preventing illness, at the cost of one Medicine Production worker. The Fluffy Pal Bed on this same row is where injured Pals actually rest, and hot springs handle SAN recovery from Lv. 9 onwards. Later on, the Pal Surgery Table at Lv. 38 is a different job entirely — it rewrites passives and gender rather than healing anything — and the Ancient Clinic at Lv. 73 is the endgame replacement for the basic one.

| Structure | Tech level | Materials | What it adds |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| | Lv. 24 | 10 [Wooden Board](https://palworld-db.com/item/Processed_Wood), 20 [Cloth](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cloth), 15 [Nail](https://palworld-db.com/item/MachineParts) | Cuts SAN depletion and prevents illness; needs a Medicine Production worker |
| | Lv. 24 | 5 [Cloth](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cloth), 3 [Wooden Board](https://palworld-db.com/item/Processed_Wood), 5 [Nail](https://palworld-db.com/item/MachineParts), 10 [Fiber](https://palworld-db.com/item/Fiber) | Where injured Pals rest and where everyone sleeps at night |
| | Lv. 9 | 20 [Wood](https://palworld-db.com/item/Wood), 15 [Stone](https://palworld-db.com/item/Stone), 7 [Paldium Fragment](https://palworld-db.com/item/Pal_crystal_S), 3 [Aquatic Pal Fluids](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalFluid) | Restores SAN after a work day — the cheapest morale fix |
| | Lv. 38 | 30 [Refined Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/IronIngot), 20 [High Quality Cloth](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cloth2), 10 [Corrosive Solvent](https://palworld-db.com/item/Corrosive_Solvent) | Changes passives and gender — not a healing structure |
| | Lv. 73 | 50 [Soralite Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkyislandIngot), 15 [Computer](https://palworld-db.com/item/Computer), 45 [World Tree Holy Water](https://palworld-db.com/item/WorldTreeHolyWater), 10 [Ancient Civilization Core](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientParts2) | Far stronger protection than the Clinic, for endgame bases |

## Summary

Short version: hit level 24, spend 2 technology points, and build the rack from 20 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot), 5 [Cloth](https://palworld-db.com/item/Cloth) and 3 [Wooden Board](https://palworld-db.com/item/Processed_Wood) — 42 Ore, 38 Wood and 10 Wool at the raw end. Put a Medieval Medicine Workbench next to it with a decent Medicine Production Pal on the job, keep all three Medical Supplies tiers stocked inside, and your base stops needing manual nursing. Take the Clinic on the same row while you are there; between the two, base illness mostly stops being something you think about.
