The Palbox Control Device is the level 32 build that drops a second Palbox terminal anywhere inside your base, so you stop sprinting back to the tower every time you want to swap a worker or pull a Pal out of storage. This guide covers the 3 Technology Points it costs, its 20 [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) and 30 [Paldium Fragment](https://palworld-db.com/item/Pal_crystal_S) recipe, the fastest way to farm both, exactly where the game will let you plant it, and the one thing everybody assumes it does that it doesn't.

## Palbox Control Device at a Glance

It lives in the **Pal** tab of the build menu alongside the Palbox, the [Global Palbox](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-use-global-palbox) and [Dimensional Pal Storage](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-get-dimensional-pal-storage), and the in-game blurb calls it exactly what it is: a remote-access terminal for the Palbox. Two numbers on this card are worth staring at. The first is the build workload of **10,000**, ten times what the Palbox itself asks for and heavy enough to sit 117th out of the game's 498 buildable objects — you do not want to hand-crank this one, you want Pals on it. The second is deterioration: it has none. Only 12 of those 498 builds are immune to decay, and this is one of them, so once it's up it stays up without a single repair.

## How to Unlock the Palbox Control Device

Hit character level 32, open the [Palworld Technology Tree](https://palworld-db.com/tech) and spend 3 points. They come out of your normal pool, not the Ancient one, which makes this a much softer buy than its neighbours in the Pal tab — [Dimensional Pal Storage](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-get-dimensional-pal-storage) wants Ancient points you can only earn off tower bosses, while this just wants three of the points you collect every time you level.

Level 32 is a crowded row, though. Eight technologies unlock here and they want **21 points** between them, so you are not clearing the whole shelf in one visit. If you are still fighting through the mid-game, the Weapon Assembly Line and the Pal Recovery Grenade earn their 3 points faster than a convenience build does. If your base is already large, sprawling and multi-level, flip that order — the Control Device pays you back in minutes saved every single session, and it never needs a repair afterwards. The Rayhound Cryst Saddle is the row's real budget-eater at 4 points, and it only matters if you actually ride one.

| Level 32 technology | Points | Why you'd take it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| | 3 | Palbox access from anywhere in the base — pure quality of life, and it never decays |
| | 3 | Puts Pals on gun production instead of you standing at a bench |
| [Pal Recovery Grenade](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalHealingGrenade) | 3 | Heals your Pal mid-fight without swapping it out — the row's best combat pick |
| [Rayhound Cryst Saddle](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkillUnlock_Thunderdog_Ice) | 4 | The most expensive line here. Skip unless Rayhound Cryst is your mount |
| | 2 | Opens up the brewing recipes for status-cure and buff drinks |
| | 2 | A cheap food plot to keep a growing base fed |
| [Elphidran Aqua Saddle](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkillUnlock_FairyDragon_Water) | 2 | Only worth it if you fly Elphidran Aqua |
| [Mossanda's Grenade Launcher](https://palworld-db.com/item/SkillUnlock_GrassPanda) | 2 | Turns a Mossanda into artillery — situational but fun |

## Palbox Control Device Materials

Two lines, no exotic parts, nothing gated behind a boss — that is the whole reason this build is easy to recommend. The catch is hidden one step upstream: 20 Ingot means smelting **40 Ore**, because a furnace turns 2 Ore into 1 Ingot. Add the 30 Paldium Fragment and the raw shopping list is 40 Ore and 30 Paldium Fragment, worth roughly 6,900 Gold if you valued the finished materials at merchant prices. At level 32 you are almost certainly still running the Primitive Furnace from technology level 10, since the Improved Furnace does not unlock until level 34, so budget a little smelting time and keep a Kindling Pal parked on it.

| Material | Qty | Where it comes from | Gold value |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Ingot](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperIngot) | 20 | Smelted in any furnace from 2 [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) each — 40 Ore total | 240 each · 4,800 |
| [Paldium Fragment](https://palworld-db.com/item/Pal_crystal_S) | 30 | Mined from Paldium Ore nodes, bought, or hauled home by expeditions | 70 each · 2,100 |
| [Ore](https://palworld-db.com/item/CopperOre) | 40 | The upstream cost of those 20 Ingot — mined from Copper Ore nodes | 100 each · 4,000 |

### Where to Farm Ore for the Ingot

Ore is the single most common resource node on the map — **1,632 pins** across Palpagos, which you can pull up on the [Palworld interactive map with the Copper Ore layer switched on](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_copperore). Forty Ore is three or four node clusters, so the fastest answer at level 32 is usually not a farming trip at all: if one of your bases already sits on an ore pocket with a mining team on it, the chest is holding your 40 Ore right now. If it isn't, that is worth fixing — see the [best base locations in Palworld](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-base-locations) for the spots with the densest node counts. Wandering Traders also sell Ore outright at 100 Gold each, which makes the whole Ingot line a 4,000 Gold purchase if you would rather spend money than time. Expeditions are the hands-off option: Verdant Hollow and Secret Realm of the Forest each return 30-50 Ore from a 30-minute Easy run.

| Ore source | Detail | Yield |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Copper Ore nodes | [1,632 mapped nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_copperore) across Palpagos Islands | Best rate with a Mining team |
| Wandering Trader | Buy it outright, no mining needed | 100 Gold each |
| Verdant Hollow expedition | Easy · 30 minutes | 30-50 Ore |
| Secret Realm of the Forest expedition | Easy · 30 minutes | 30-50 Ore |
| Blazing Cavern expedition | Normal · 45 minutes | 30-50 Ore |
| Field drops, Feybreak | Chance drop while exploring | 15.2% · 1-5 Ore |
| Field drops, Desert | Chance drop while exploring | 14.1% · 2-4 Ore |

### Where to Farm Paldium Fragment

Paldium is scarcer than Ore in node terms — **711 pins** on the [Paldium Ore map layer](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_paldiumore), well under half the Copper Ore count — but 30 fragments is a small ask and you have four routes to it. Field drops are the sleeper here: simply running around the Snowfields returns 2-7 Paldium Fragment on a 26.5% roll, the single best field-drop rate for the material in the game, with the Desert close behind at 18.9%. Fishing works too, oddly enough — junk hauls in the Grasslands cough up 4-6 fragments a quarter of the time. And the Secret Realm of the Forest expedition brings back 20-40 in half an hour, which alone covers this whole build.

| Paldium source | Detail | Yield |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Paldium Ore nodes | [711 mapped nodes](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=res_paldiumore) across Palpagos Islands | Best rate with a Mining team |
| Field drops, Snowfields | Best field-drop rate for the material | 26.5% · 2-7 Fragments |
| Junk hauls while fishing, Grasslands | Comes up between actual fish | 25.0% · 4-6 Fragments |
| Field drops, Desert | Chance drop while exploring | 18.9% · 2-7 Fragments |
| Secret Realm of the Forest expedition | Easy · 30 minutes — covers the build on its own | 20-40 Fragments |
| Verdant Hollow expedition | Easy · 30 minutes | 10-30 Fragments |
| Wander Shop | Buy it outright | 70 Gold each |

## Best Pals to Mine and Smelt the Materials

Both halves of this recipe are Mining jobs, and the smelting step is a Kindling job, so the right two or three Pals turn a 40-Ore errand into something that happens while you are doing other things. [Aegidron](https://palworld-db.com/pal/aegidron) is the only Pal in the game at Mining 8, the top of the 57-strong Mining pool, so it is the single best node-breaker you can own. Below it, [Knocklem](https://palworld-db.com/pal/knocklem) is the smarter base pick than the raw-power options, because Mining 7 plus **Transporting 7** means it mines the node *and* carries the haul to your chest instead of leaving piles on the floor. On the furnace, [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) is alone at Kindling 8 out of 44 Kindling Pals and brings Handiwork 6 on top, so it doubles as a crafting body. If you would rather build the whole roster around your base's jobs, the [Palworld Work Suitability Optimizer](https://palworld-db.com/work-optimizer) does the matching for you.

| Pal | Job | Level | Why it works here |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Aegidron](https://palworld-db.com/pal/aegidron) | Mining | 8 | The only Mining 8 Pal in the game — fastest node breaker for both Ore and Paldium |
| [Knocklem](https://palworld-db.com/pal/knocklem) | Mining | 7 | Mining 7 with Transporting 7, so the ore actually reaches your chest |
| [Astegon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/astegon) | Mining | 7 | Mining 7 plus Handiwork 3 — a solid all-round base body |
| [Blazamut](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut) | Mining | 7 | Mining 7 and Kindling 6 in one Pal — mines the ore, then smelts it |
| [Renjishi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/renjishi) | Kindling | 8 | The only Kindling 8 Pal, and Handiwork 6 on the side |
| [Jormuntide Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jormuntide-ignis) | Kindling | 7 | Pure furnace specialist — nothing else competes for its time |

## Where You Can Place the Palbox Control Device

This is where most players hit a wall, so be clear on the rule: the Control Device can only be placed **inside an existing base**, within the radius your Palbox already projects. It is one of 86 builds flagged that way, the same restriction that governs the Egg Incubator and the Statue of Power. Walk outside the circle and the placement ghost turns red no matter how flat the ground is. Inside the circle, though, there is no cap at all — unlike the Palbox itself, which is hard-limited to one per base, you can plant as many Control Devices as you like. On a big multi-level base the usual play is one per floor, or one at each far corner where your Pals actually work.

A few other placement facts worth knowing before you commit the materials:

- It needs **no power** and **no assigned Pal**. Build it and it just works, forever.
- It has **20,000 HP and 50 Defense**, which puts it 26th toughest out of 493 builds — a raid is not knocking this over quickly.
- It **never deteriorates**, so unlike the [Global Palbox](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-use-global-palbox) and Dimensional Pal Storage sitting next to it, you never have to repair it.
- It is **not** prohibited in raid boss areas, so you can keep one near your defence line.
- It cannot be painted, and there is no upgraded rank-2 version to chase later.

## It Does Not Give You an Extra Base

The in-game description — "set it up wherever you'd like and build a base of your own design" — reads like it founds a new camp, and that misreading is everywhere. It doesn't. The build is locked to your existing Palbox radius, so it cannot create a base where there wasn't one, and your base count is untouched. What the description is actually getting at is layout freedom: normally your base design gravitates toward the Palbox because that is the one spot you keep walking back to, and a Control Device or three breaks that gravity so you can put the workshops, the ranch and the breeding pen wherever they make sense. If you genuinely want more camps, that is the Palbox's job — check [the best base locations in Palworld](https://palworld-db.com/guides/best-base-locations) for where to drop the next one.

## Palbox Control Device vs the Other Palbox Builds

Four builds in the Pal tab all sound like they do the same thing, and they don't overlap at all. The Palbox creates the base and is capped at one. The Global Palbox copies Pal genetic data between save files. Dimensional Pal Storage is bulk, guild-shared storage bought with Ancient points. The Control Device stores nothing — it is a doorway to the Palbox you already own, which is why it is the only one of the four whose value scales with how *big* your base is rather than how many Pals you own. It is also, quietly, the most durable of the group in practice: it and the Palbox are the only two here that never decay.

| Build | Tech level | Materials | What it's for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| | Lv. 2 | 1 Paldium Fragment, 8 Wood, 3 Stone | Creates the base. Limited to 1 per camp |
| | Lv. 3 | 3 Paldium Fragment, 5 Wood, 15 Stone | Copies Pal genetic data across save files |
| | Lv. 20 | 20 Ingot, 40 Paldium Fragment, 5 Ancient Civilization Parts | Bulk storage any guild member can use. Costs Ancient points |
| | Lv. 32 | 20 Ingot, 30 Paldium Fragment | Remote terminal for the Palbox. No cap, no power, no decay |

> **Tip.** Build the first one right next to whatever you use most — the workbench cluster, the breeding pen, the ranch — not in the middle of the base. The whole point is cutting the walk, and the walk you actually make fifty times a session is the one from your crafting corner back to the Palbox. And since it never deteriorates and needs no power, there is no ongoing reason to be stingy: once you can afford one, you can afford three.
