# How to Get More Technology Points and Ancient Points

Every source of Technology Points in Palworld — the four Technical Manuals and their drop odds, the camp stashes that hand over Ancient manuals every single time, dungeon book stands, chests, fishing and milestone rewards, plus what all 588 technologies actually cost.

Technology Points are what turn a level-up into an actual unlock, and the [Palworld technology tree](https://palworld-db.com/tech) asks for far more of them than levelling will ever hand you. Here is every source of both point types, the real drop odds on all four Technical Manuals, and what the whole tree costs so you know how far behind you are.

## Technology Points vs Ancient Technology Points

There are two separate pools and nothing converts between them. Ordinary Technology Points buy the 537 normal technologies — weapons, armor, base structures, Pal gear — while Ancient Technology Points are reserved for the 51 Ancient technologies, the quarries and incubators and movement gear that nothing else in the game replaces. Both are spent from the same Technology menu, and the tree's last unlocks sit at player level 80.

| Point type | Where it comes from | Technologies it buys | Cost to unlock every one |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Technology Points** | Level-ups, the three ordinary [Technical Manuals](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1), milestone rewards, the Bounty Shop | 537 | **1,413 points** |
| **Ancient Technology Points** | [Tower bosses](https://palworld-db.com/tower-bosses) and the [Ancient Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | 51 | **185 points** |

The good news is that individual unlocks are cheap: 298 of the 537 normal technologies cost one or two points, and nothing on the normal side costs more than five. Ancient technologies are the ones that hurt — they scale up to nine points a piece, which is why 51 of them add up to 185. Note that these two totals only compare against each other loosely; a normal point is far easier to replace than an Ancient one.

## How to Get Technology Points

Levelling is the baseline everyone gets. Everything below it is the part you can actually farm, and it is the difference between unlocking what you need now and waiting five levels for it.

### Level Up

Points arrive with each player level, which makes XP the one source you cannot rush past a certain speed. It is also nowhere near enough on its own — the tree spans levels 1 to 80 and asks for 1,413 points across that span, so levelling alone never comes close to buying it all. Treat levels as the floor and manuals as everything above it. If you are still climbing, the [Palworld endgame checklist](https://palworld-db.com/guides/palworld-endgame-checklist) lays out what is worth doing at level 60 and up.

### The Four Technical Manuals

Manuals are consumables you read from your inventory for an instant point payout, and there are four of them. The first three feed ordinary Technology Points in increasing amounts; the fourth is the only farmable source of Ancient points in the game. The game does not print the exact payout anywhere until the confirmation prompt appears, so go by tier — the Futuristic manual is worth several Advanced ones. Where they come from matters more than what they are worth, and the sources are wildly uneven.

| Manual | Rarity | Pool it feeds | Best source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Advanced Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) | 1 | Technology Points — smallest payout | 75% from dungeon book stands in the Grasslands and Forest |
| [Innovative Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) | 2 | Technology Points — middling | 50% from Snowfields enemy camp boss stashes |
| [Futuristic Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) | 3 | Technology Points — largest payout | **76.1%** from Sakurajima camp boss stashes, 1–2 at a time |
| [Ancient Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | 4 | Ancient Technology Points | **100%** from Snowfields, Sakurajima and Sunreach Isle camp stashes, 1–3 at a time |

### Enemy Camp Boss Stashes

This is the single best thing in this guide. The boss stash at the back of a late-region enemy camp drops an Ancient Technical Manual **every single time** in the Snowfields, Sakurajima and Sunreach Isle — not a chance, a certainty, and 1 to 3 copies at that. Sakurajima camps also hand over a Futuristic manual three times out of four on the same clear, which makes one camp run the best-paying minute in the game for both point types at once. There are [48 enemy camps marked on our map](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=camp), plus 10 more sea bases, and they repopulate.

| Camp region | Manual | Chance per stash | Quantity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Snowfields | [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | **100%** | 1–3 |
| Sakurajima | [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | **100%** | 1–3 |
| Sunreach Isle | [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | **100%** | 1–3 |
| Sakurajima | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) | 76.1% | 1–2 |
| Mount Obsidian | [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | 56.2% | 1–2 |
| Sunreach Isle | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) | 55.9% | 1–2 |
| Desert | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) | 54.7% | 1 |
| Snowfields | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) | 50% | 1 |
| Grasslands | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) | 36.4% | 1 |

### Dungeon Book Stands

Caverns hide dedicated book stands, and unlike a chest they roll from a table built for manuals. The two early regions are the standouts: a Grasslands or Forest stand pays out an Advanced manual three times out of four **and** rolls separately for an Ancient manual at the same 75%, which is the earliest reliable Ancient income in the run. Later caverns switch to the bigger manuals at around a third each. Our map marks [170 dungeon entrances](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=dungeon_grasslands) across every region, and entrances reopen on a timer, so the same cavern is farmable more than once. The full loot picture for each one is on the [Palworld dungeon guide](https://palworld-db.com/dungeons).

| Cavern | Region | Manual | Chance |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Hillside Cavern · Isolated Island Cavern · Ravine Grotto | Grasslands | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) and [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | **75%** each |
| Mountain Stream Grotto | Forest | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) and [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | **75%** each |
| Yakushima stands | Yakushima | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) and [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) (1–3) | 50% each |
| Sunreach Skies | Sunreach Isle | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) · [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) (1–3) | 33.3% |
| Cherry Blossom Cave | Sakurajima | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) · [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) (1–3) | 32.3% |
| Feybreak Cavern | Viking ruins | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) · [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) (1–3) | 32.3% |
| Cavern of the Dunes | Desert | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) · [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) (1–2) | 32.3% |
| Volcanic Cavern | Mount Obsidian | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) · [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) (1–2) | 32.3% |
| Astral Mountains Cavern | Snowfields | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) · [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) (1–2) | 32.3% |

### Treasure Chests and Fishing Spots

Field chests carry manuals too, and the odds climb steeply with the region — a Snowfields chest holds an Ancient manual almost half the time and up to three at once, where a Grasslands chest offers an Advanced one less than a quarter of the time. With 1,559 chest pins across the regions on our [interactive Palworld map](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=chest_snowfields), a chest sweep of any late area is a manual run whether you meant it to be or not. Fishing draws from a near-identical regional table, so a Snowfields fishing session lands Ancient manuals at 48.4% and Futuristic ones at 46.2% — within a point of the chests. Base fishing ponds run a much thinner version of the same table at 5.6% to 12.5%, and the [Palworld fishing guide](https://palworld-db.com/guides/fishing-guide) covers which rod and spots are worth your time.

| Chest region | Manual | Chance per chest | Quantity |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Snowfields | [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | **49.2%** | 1–3 |
| Snowfields | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) | 46.2% | 1 |
| Sakurajima · Feybreak · Sunreach Isle | [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | 44.8% | 1–3 |
| Sakurajima | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) | 42.9% | 1 |
| Yakushima | [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) | 33.0% | 1–3 |
| Desert · Mount Obsidian | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) | 33.0% | 1–2 |
| Feybreak · Sunreach Isle | [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) | 28.6% | 1–2 |
| Grasslands | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) | 23.0% | 1 |
| Forest | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) | 19.6% | 1–2 |

### Milestone Rewards

Four collection milestones pay out manuals as a one-off, and they cost nothing extra because you clear them by playing normally. Two of them are Paldeck entries, which means simply catching one of everything you meet is worth points — and the boss-defeat milestone is the only guaranteed Ancient manual outside a camp stash. Registering 60 Paldeck entries for a Futuristic manual is the best-value one on the list; the 100-capture milestone comes almost for free alongside it if you are throwing [Pal Spheres](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalSphere) at everything.

| Milestone | Reward |
| --- | --- |
| Register 10 Paldeck entries | 1 × [Advanced Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) |
| Register 60 Paldeck entries | 1 × [Futuristic Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) |
| Capture 100 Pals | 2 × [Innovative Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) |
| Defeat 20 bosses | 2 × [Ancient Technical Manual](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) |

### Pals That Drop Manuals

A handful of Pals carry manuals in their own drop table, and the rates split into two very different groups. The Advanced-manual carriers are common spellcaster types at a flat 1% — bad odds on paper, but [Katress](https://palworld-db.com/pal/katress) alone has 605 spawn spots and hunts in packs at night, so the volume does the work. The Innovative group is the opposite: rare, tough, and paying ten times better. [Lyleen](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lyleen) and [Shadowbeak](https://palworld-db.com/pal/shadowbeak) at 10% are the ones to farm deliberately, and [Anubis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/anubis) at 5% is worth killing on sight since you are likely fighting it for Bones anyway.

| Pal | Manual | Drop chance | Where |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Lyleen](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lyleen) | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) | **10%** | [42 spawn spots](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=LilyQueen) |
| [Lyleen Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lyleen-noct) | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) | **10%** | [42 spawn spots](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=LilyQueen_Dark) |
| [Shadowbeak](https://palworld-db.com/pal/shadowbeak) | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) | **10%** | [11 spawn spots](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=BlackGriffon) |
| [Anubis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/anubis) | [Innovative](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G2) | 5% | [35 spawn spots](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=Anubis) |
| [Katress](https://palworld-db.com/pal/katress) | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) | 1% | [605 spawn spots](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=CatMage), mostly at night |
| [Hoocrates](https://palworld-db.com/pal/hoocrates) | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) | 1% | [263 spawn spots](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=WizardOwl), night only |
| [Wixen Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wixen-noct) | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) | 1% | [184 spawn spots](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=FoxMage_Dark), night only |
| [Wixen](https://palworld-db.com/pal/wixen) | [Advanced](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G1) | 1% | [54 spawn spots](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=FoxMage) |

### The Bounty Shop and the Long-Shot Sources

The Bounty Shop sells the Advanced Technical Manual outright for **5 Successful Bounty Tokens**, which is the only place in the game you can buy a manual with a currency instead of hoping for a roll — see [every bounty target and payout](https://palworld-db.com/guides/all-bounty-targets) for how fast those tokens come in. Everything else is a bonus rather than a plan: oil rig crates hold an Advanced manual 4.2% of the time and an Ancient one 2.8% across 56 crate spots, salvaging low-rank wrecks pays 1.3% for 1–3 copies, and [recycling Ancient Relics](https://palworld-db.com/guides/ancient-relic-recycler) tops out under half a percent per manual. Do not build a farm around any of them.

## How to Get Ancient Technology Points

Ancient points come from two places only. The first is the towers: there are 10 [tower boss Pals](https://palworld-db.com/tower-bosses), with 8 towers marked on the main island and [3 more inside the World Tree](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=towerboss), and clearing one is what the game intends as your Ancient income. The second is the Ancient Technical Manual, which is why the Snowfields, Sakurajima and Sunreach Isle camp stashes above matter so much — they turn a fixed reward into a farmable one. All 51 Ancient technologies together cost 185 points, so every manual you skip is a quarry or an incubator you do not get.

Spend them where nothing else can substitute. The priciest unlocks in the pool are all things with no normal-tech equivalent, and the two quarries in particular pay you back forever — a Soralite Quarry turns a late-game bottleneck into a base task. The movement gear is the other camp: 9 points for the Wing Pack is the single largest charge anywhere in the tree, normal or Ancient.

| Ancient technology | Level | Ancient points | Why it is worth it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Wing Pack](https://palworld-db.com/item/WingGlider) | 80 | **9** | The most expensive unlock in the entire tree, and the last thing you will buy |
| | 76 | 8 | Bulk hatching for [breeding](https://palworld-db.com/breeding) projects — the endgame egg engine |
| | 72 | 7 | Passive Soralite at base instead of flying out for every node |
| [Triple Air Dash Boots](https://palworld-db.com/item/Accessory_AirDash3) | 65 | 6 | Third air dash — the biggest traversal jump in the accessory line |
| [Triple Jump Boots](https://palworld-db.com/item/Accessory_JumpCount_Increase2) | 70 | 6 | Stacks with the dash boots for vertical exploration |
| [Extra Weapon Holster](https://palworld-db.com/item/UnlockEquipmentSlot_Weapon_01) | 27 | 5 | A second weapon slot, and the cheapest quality-of-life win on the Ancient side |

## The Fastest Manual Farming Route

If you only have twenty minutes, do this in order. It is built around the fact that a late-region camp is a guaranteed Ancient manual and a coin-flip Futuristic one, while everything else is filler you pick up on the way between them.

| Stop | What to hit | What it pays |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **1** | [Sakurajima enemy camp](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=camp) — kill the camp boss, open the stash | 1–3 [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) guaranteed, plus a 76.1% [Futuristic](https://palworld-db.com/item/TechnologyBook_G3) |
| **2** | Snowfields and Sunreach Isle camps on the same loop | 1–3 [Ancient](https://palworld-db.com/item/AncientTechnologyBook_G1) guaranteed at each |
| **3** | [Snowfields chest cluster](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=chest_snowfields) between camps | 49.2% Ancient, 46.2% Futuristic per chest |
| **4** | [Astral Mountains Cavern](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=dungeon_snowfields) or any nearby dungeon | 32.3% per book stand, two manual types rolled separately |
| **5** | Fish the Snowfields shore while the camp respawn timer runs | 48.4% Ancient, 46.2% Futuristic per catch table roll |

> **Tip.** Do not read manuals the moment you get them. Points sit in your inventory perfectly safely as manuals, and unlocking a technology you cannot build yet — because the workbench, the materials or the level is missing — is how people end up short at the moment it matters. Bank the books, then spend on the thing you are about to craft.

## Where to Spend Points First

The tree's demand is not flat: it climbs steadily and peaks in the 50s, right when Ancient technologies start competing for your attention too. Capacity beats power at every band — storage, a better workbench and the production chain pay out on every craft that follows, while a stronger gun only pays out in the fights you happen to choose. Use the table below to see what a band actually asks for before you commit, and the full breakdown of every unlock and its level sits on the [technology tree page](https://palworld-db.com/tech).

| Level band | Technology Points the tree asks for |
| --- | --- |
| 1–10 | 92 |
| 11–20 | 121 |
| 21–30 | 164 |
| 31–40 | 198 |
| 41–50 | 215 |
| 51–60 | **224** — the heaviest band in the game |
| 61–70 | 218 |
| 71–80 | 181 |

The short version: level for the floor, run late-region camps for the ceiling. Three camp stashes are worth more Ancient points than an hour of anything else, the Snowfields and Sakurajima chest and fishing tables back them up at nearly 50% a roll, and the milestone rewards land for free while you do it. Everything else on this page is what you collect on the way past.
