Land one punch too many on a villager while someone is watching and the Palpagos Islands Defense Force puts a bounty on your head and starts hunting you across the whole island. This guide covers the three ways to clear Wanted status, the exact gold bounty every crime adds, why fighting back becomes mathematically hopeless at Wanted Rank 4, and which flying mounts get you out of sight fastest.

## How to Remove Wanted Status

Wanted status is a timer, not a permanent mark on your save — there is no fine to pay, no officer to bribe, and no jail sentence to sit through. You clear it by staying out of PIDF eyes until the countdown expires, by getting somewhere they physically cannot follow, or by dying and respawning. Which one you reach for depends entirely on your Wanted Rank: below Rank 4 the first two work fine, and from Rank 4 up the game stops playing fair and dying becomes the only reliable exit.

| Method | How fast | What it costs | Best used at |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Break line of sight and wait** | Slow — the timer only ticks while nobody can see you | Nothing but patience | Rank 1–3 |
| **Climb away on a flying mount** | Fast | Mount stamina, and it stops working once the Attack Chopper is up | Rank 1–3 |
| **Die on purpose (Emergency Respawn)** | Instant | Whatever your Death Penalty setting drops | Rank 4–5, or any time you are cornered |

### Break Line of Sight and Wait Out the Timer

This is the method the game itself points you at, and it is the only one that costs you nothing. NPCs shrug off a stray hit — it takes sustained attacks to register as a crime at all, and even then it only becomes a wanted flag if somebody actually witnesses it. Once you are flagged, a countdown appears in the top-right corner and it only runs while nothing has eyes on you. The instant an officer picks you up the game flashes **"You've been spotted!"** and the countdown resets to full, so a half-finished escape is worth exactly as much as no escape at all.

Watch for the red eye indicator that marks a PIDF officer's line of sight and put solid geometry between you and it — a building interior, a cliff face, or a dungeon entrance all work, and dungeons are the safest of the three because nothing follows you inside. The one thing you must not do is trade shots on the way out. Attacking an officer is its own crime with its own bounty, so every burst you fire back pushes your rank up instead of down. If you want to see where the settlements and patrol routes actually are before you go stirring things up, the [Palworld interactive map](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=camp) marks all 48 enemy camps on the main island.

### Climb Out of Reach on a Flying Mount

PIDF officers on foot have no answer to altitude, so the fastest escape at low ranks is straight up rather than sideways. What matters here is not top speed so much as stamina, because a vertical climb burns your mount's bar continuously and dropping out of the sky in front of the squad you just fled is worse than never taking off. [Frostallion](https://palworld-db.com/pal/frostallion) and [Selyne](https://palworld-db.com/pal/selyne) both carry 300 stamina, double what most of the fast fliers have, and Selyne's saddle unlocks at Tech level 53 — by far the earliest point you can get a genuinely good escape flier. [Jetragon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jetragon) is still the outright fastest thing in the sky, but its 110 stamina and level 79 saddle make it an endgame answer, not a rescue plan.

| Flying mount | Sprint speed | Stamina | Saddle Tech Lv | Why it works |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Jetragon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jetragon) | 3,300 | 110 | 79 | Fastest flier in the game — outruns anything, but the short stamina bar means one climb and you are down |
| [Shaolong](https://palworld-db.com/pal/shaolong) | 2,800 | 100 | 77 | Near-Jetragon speed at a slightly earlier saddle, same short-burst limitation |
| [Eidrolon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/eidrolon) | 2,750 | 130 | 68 | The best speed-to-stamina trade among the top-tier fliers, and unlocks 11 levels before Jetragon |
| [Frostallion](https://palworld-db.com/pal/frostallion) | 1,800 | 300 | 62 | Triple Jetragon's stamina — the one to bring if the climb is long or you need to keep circling |
| [Selyne](https://palworld-db.com/pal/selyne) | 1,600 | 300 | 53 | Earliest saddle with a 300 stamina bar, which makes it the practical mid-game escape mount |
| [Ragnahawk](https://palworld-db.com/pal/ragnahawk) | 1,300 | 150 | 33 | Saddle at Tech level 33 — the first flier most players can actually build, and enough to shake foot patrols |

Those speed figures only mean anything against each other — a flying mount's sprint number is not comparable to a ground mount's, so read the table as a ranking among fliers rather than an absolute. Full sprint, run and stamina figures for every rideable Pal are on the [Palworld mount speed rankings](https://palworld-db.com/mount-speeds). The important caveat: this trick has a hard expiry date. Once your Wanted Rank hits 4 the PIDF sends an Attack Chopper, and altitude stops being a hiding place.

### Die on Purpose with Emergency Respawn

The bluntest fix is also the most reliable one: die, and the wanted flag dies with you. You do not have to wait for an officer to finish the job either — the options menu carries an **Emergency Respawn** entry that asks "Perish at current location and respawn?" and kills you on the spot. The catch is spelled out in the same confirmation box: your World Settings Death Penalty still applies, so on anything above the most forgiving preset you will be walking back to a Tombstone to collect your bag. The full breakdown of which preset drops what is in our guide to [How to Keep Items on Death: Settings and Recovery](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-keep-items-on-death).

There is a second, separate option called **Emergency Escape** that respawns you with no death penalty at all, but the game is explicit that it exists for when you are stuck in terrain and cannot move — it is not designed as a free crime eraser. Whichever route you take, you pick where you come back, and having a nearby respawn point already unlocked is what turns "die on purpose" from a disaster into a 30-second detour. There are 12 [respawn statues](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=respawn) on the main island and 137 [fast travel points](https://palworld-db.com/map?layers=fasttravel) on top of that, with another 15 up at the World Tree.

## What Counts as a Crime and the Bounty Each One Adds

Every criminal act in Palworld has a fixed gold value attached to it, and that value is what gets stacked onto the bounty shown next to your name on the crime list. The two that matter most are the ones aimed at the PIDF themselves — swinging at an officer is worth three times a simple mugging, and killing one is worth five times. That is the whole reason "just fight them off" spirals: each officer you drop while flagged adds 5,000 gold to the pile that is deciding how hard the next wave hits you.

| Crime | Bounty added | What sets it off |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Murder of Law Enforcement** | 5,000 Gold | Killing a PIDF officer |
| **Murder** | 3,000 Gold | Killing a friendly NPC — villager, merchant, guard or quest giver |
| **Obstructing Public Officials** | 3,000 Gold | Attacking a PIDF officer without killing them |
| **Assault** | 1,000 Gold | Sustained attacks on any NPC who is not already a criminal |
| **Theft** | 500 Gold | Taking items that are not yours |
| **Trespassing** | 500 Gold | Entering an area you are not supposed to be in |

None of these register without a witness. Assault specifically needs sustained damage rather than one accidental swing — NPCs will let a single stray hit slide — and a killing done where nobody can see it never generates a report at all. Note that the Syndicate and the other hostile factions are not protected by any of this: they are already flagged as criminals, so clearing out a camp full of [Syndicate Thugs and their drops](https://palworld-db.com/guides/syndicate-thugs) carries no bounty whatsoever.

## Why Fighting Back Stops Working at Wanted Rank 4

Up to Rank 3 the PIDF sends ordinary officers — the same units you can meet on patrol, with no combat bonuses at all. At Rank 4 the game quietly swaps them for a dedicated enforcer variant, and at Rank 5 it swaps them again for something far worse. These are not "tougher versions" in the usual sense of extra levels; the damage they take and the damage they deal are rewritten outright, which is why a build that shreds tower bosses can still get flattened by a wanted response squad.

| Wanted Rank | Damage the responder takes | Effective durability | Damage the responder deals |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Rank 1–3** (standard PIDF) | 100% | Baseline | 1× — baseline |
| **Rank 4** enforcer | 20% | 5× a standard officer | 30× a standard officer |
| **Rank 5** enforcer | 2% | 50× a standard officer | 60× a standard officer |

For scale, Whip — the named PIDF field boss you can hunt down with a health bar of his own — takes 24% damage and hits for 2×. A Rank 5 enforcer is roughly twelve times harder to kill than that boss and hits thirty times harder than he does, and the game will keep sending them. Those numbers only compare within the PIDF's own roster, but that is exactly the comparison that matters: there is no gear tier that closes a 60× damage gap. Hit Rank 4 and the correct play is to stop shooting and start running, or take the free respawn.

## Every PIDF Unit That Comes After You

Ten distinct PIDF unit types exist across 21 appearance variants, and here is the part that surprises people: they all share the same base HP of 100. Nothing separates a Rifleman from a Rocketeer defensively — the entire difference is what they are carrying, which means the threat level of a response squad comes down to its loadout mix and nothing else. The ones to genuinely fear are the Interceptor and the Rocketeer, whose explosives ignore the cover you are using to break line of sight, and the Technophile, whose laser rifle tracks you at range while you are trying to reach altitude.

| PIDF unit | Weapon | Base HP | Variants |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| PIDF Rifleman | Assault Rifle, Bow Gun, Handgun | 100 | 9 |
| PIDF Elite | Shotgun | 100 | 3 |
| PIDF Guard | Handgun | 100 | 2 |
| PIDF Blader | Katana | 100 | 1 |
| PIDF Rioter | Bow Gun | 100 | 1 |
| PIDF Technophile | Laser Rifle | 100 | 1 |
| PIDF Veteran | Grenade Launcher | 100 | 1 |
| PIDF Cleaner | Flame Thrower | 100 | 1 |
| PIDF Rocketeer | Rocket Launcher | 100 | 1 |
| PIDF Interceptor | Missile Launcher | 100 | 1 |

Those are base values before area scaling, so a squad that turns up in a high-level region hits considerably harder than the same unit on the starting plains. Every human faction on the island is listed the same way — HP ranges, weapons and portraits — on our [list of all Palworld NPCs and factions](https://palworld-db.com/npcs).

## The Attack Chopper at Wanted Rank 4

Reach Rank 4 and the PIDF stops sending people and starts sending hardware. The Attack Chopper arrives with a boss health bar and one hundred times the base HP of a foot officer, and it hovers over your position dropping fresh squads for as long as you stay flagged. Its own shots only land about half a standard officer's damage, which sounds generous until you realise it does not need to hit hard — it just needs to keep you spotted while the reinforcements do the work.

That is what kills both of the free escape routes at once. The chopper runs its own detection check, and when it finds you the game prints **"You've been spotted by a drone!"** and resets your countdown from the air, so hiding under a rock no longer helps. Flying does not help either, because you are now trying to out-climb something that is already airborne and has no stamina bar. Once the chopper is up, take the respawn — trying to shoot it down with a Rank 4 enforcer squad landing on your head is not a fight, it is a slower death.

## What PIDF Officers Drop If You Kill Them

It is worth seeing the payout written down, because it is the clearest argument against fighting at all. A PIDF officer drops spheres, pocket change and a single round of ammunition — and the Rank 4 and Rank 5 enforcers, for all their fifty-fold durability, drop the exact same table as a plain Rifleman. You are paying 5,000 gold of bounty per kill for 50 to 200 gold of loot, which is the worst trade in the game.

| Drop | PIDF Guard | PIDF Rifleman | PIDF Elite |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Pal Sphere](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalSphere) | 1–2 (40%) | — | — |
| [Mega Sphere](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalSphere_Mega) | — | 1–2 (40%) | 1–2 (40%) |
| [Gold Coin](https://palworld-db.com/item/Money) | 30–150 (40%) | 50–200 (40%) | 50–200 (40%) |
| [Handgun Ammo](https://palworld-db.com/item/HandgunBullet) | 1–2 (100%) | — | — |
| [Assault Rifle Ammo](https://palworld-db.com/item/AssaultRifleBullet) | — | 1 (100%) | — |
| [Shotgun Shell](https://palworld-db.com/item/ShotgunBullet) | — | — | 1 (100%) |

The only PIDF kill that pays properly is a named one. Whip and Pinch, the two PIDF field bosses, hand over [Successful Bounty Tokens](https://palworld-db.com/item/BountyProof_1) on top of the usual scraps — 2 and 4 respectively — and hunting those is a sanctioned bounty rather than a crime. Our rundown of [All Bounty Targets: Token Payouts and Every Bounty Reward](https://palworld-db.com/guides/all-bounty-targets) covers who is worth chasing.

## The PIDF Also Raids Your Base

Separate from anything you did, the PIDF run a scheduled base invasion called **Counterfeit Investigations**, and it is the single biggest one in the game. Thirty-five officers arrive across three escalating waves, every one of them at level 80 no matter what level your base is, and the third wave alone brings Cleaners, Rocketeers and Interceptors together. Clearing the whole thing pays 106,470 EXP plus a guaranteed reward bundle, and it can fire in all eight regions — Grasslands, Forest, Desert, Snowfields, Mount Obsidian, Sakurajima, Yamishima and Sky City.

| Wave | Attackers | Total |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Wave 1** | PIDF Rifleman ×2, PIDF Guard ×2, PIDF Elite ×2, PIDF Blader ×2 | 8 |
| **Wave 2** | PIDF Technophile ×3, PIDF Rioter ×3, PIDF Veteran ×3, PIDF Blader ×3 | 12 |
| **Wave 3** | PIDF Rifleman ×3, PIDF Technophile ×3, PIDF Cleaner ×3, PIDF Rocketeer ×3, PIDF Interceptor ×3 | 15 |

The rewards are all guaranteed rather than rolled, which makes this raid one of the better scheduled payouts if your base defences can hold a level 80 assault. You walk away with 1 [Training Crystal](https://palworld-db.com/item/LvUP_01), 200–300 [Dog Coin](https://palworld-db.com/item/DogCoin) and 10–20 [Deluxe Bait](https://palworld-db.com/item/FishingBait_3) every single time. Beating it does not affect your Wanted status either way — this raid is scripted, not retaliation.

> **Tip.** The wanted countdown only runs while nothing has eyes on you, so ducking into a dungeon entrance beats sprinting down an open road every time. And never trade shots with an officer while flagged — Obstructing Public Officials adds 3,000 gold and killing one adds 5,000, which is the fastest way to climb from a manageable Rank 2 into an unwinnable Rank 4 where every responder takes a fifth of the damage and deals thirty times as much.
