# How to Upgrade Schematics to Legendary at the Drafting Table

You don't have to pray to the loot gods for a Legendary schematic — you can build one. The **Drafting Table** turns duplicate schematics into higher-rarity ones, and the recipe is the same for every weapon and armor line in the game. Here's how the ladder works and when combining actually beats farming.

## The Drafting Table

The Drafting Table unlocks at **Technology Lv 45** for 4 Technology Points. It's a Handiwork station, so any crafting Pal can run it — the [top Handiwork Pals](https://palworld-db.com/best-pals) chew through combine jobs fastest. Build cost:

## The 5-into-1 Rule

Every schematic line in the game follows one rule at the Drafting Table: **combine 5 identical schematics to get 1 of the next rarity up**. The full ladder:
- 5× Schematic 1 → 1× Schematic 2
- 5× Schematic 2 → 1× Schematic 3
- 5× Schematic 3 → 1× Schematic 4, the legendary tier

That holds for all 89 schematic lines — every weapon, armor piece, and accessory family, from the humble bat to endgame launchers. A handful of special lines even let you combine five base schematics into their Schematic 1. Each combine is a hefty crafting job, so station a strong Handiwork Pal and let it work.

> **Tip.** Do the math before you brute-force: a Legendary built from scratch costs 125 Schematic 1s. ## What a Legendary Actually Costs

The rule is the same everywhere — **every combine in the game takes exactly five of the tier below**, with no exceptions across the 281 upgrade recipes. That compounds fast, so the honest price of climbing the whole ladder from the bottom is:
- **Schematic 2** — 5 copies of Schematic 1
- **Schematic 3** — 25 copies of Schematic 1
- **Schematic 4 (Legendary)** — **125 copies of Schematic 1**

Which is why nobody sensibly farms a legendary from the bottom rung. The workable plan is to hoard duplicates of whatever tier you are already finding, and only spend them once you have five of the *highest* tier you own — combining upward from the bottom burns copies you would rather bank.

> **Tip.** One catch worth knowing before you start hoarding: **24 top-tier schematics have no combine recipe at all** — most of them headgear. Those legendary versions only ever drop, so stacking their lower tiers will never produce one. Check the schematic's own page: if it shows no recipe, duplicates of the tier below are just inventory weight.
