# Lucky Pals in Palworld: Shinies, Stats, and How to Find Them

Palworld has no recolour shinies — it has Lucky Pals. What the Lucky passive is worth (+15% Attack, +15% Defense, +20% Work Speed), how to spot one, which 258 of the 288 Pals can turn up Lucky, the 30 that never will, and the best species to stop for.

Palworld has no recoloured shinies — there is no alternate palette hiding on any of the 288 species, and no counter tracking how many you have found. What it has instead is the **Lucky Pal**: an oversized, glowing wild spawn that arrives carrying a rainbow-tier passive, and this guide covers how to spot one, exactly what that passive is worth, which Pals can turn up Lucky, which 30 never will, and the species actually worth stopping your route for.

## Are There Shinies in Palworld?

No, not in the recolour sense people mean when they ask. Lucky Pals are the closest thing, and they are a different idea: the species art is unchanged, but the Pal is scaled up, wrapped in a shimmering aura, and comes pre-loaded with a passive skill no ordinary catch can roll. The game's own help entry frames them as rare Pals found anywhere in the world, bigger and radiant, usually with strong stats and unusual skills attached — which is exactly what you get. The table below lines up what a classic shiny changes against what a Lucky Pal actually changes.

| What changes | A recolour-style shiny | A Palworld Lucky Pal |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Colour | New palette on the same model | Same palette, plus a bright glowing aura |
| Size | Identical to a normal one | Visibly larger than a normal one of the same species |
| Stats | Purely cosmetic | Carries **Lucky**: Attack +15%, Defense +15%, Work Speed +20% |
| Skills | No change | Can arrive with an extra active skill outside its normal learn list |
| Odds | A published, fixed rate | Pocketpair has never published a rate — treat it as a rare roll on any wild spawn |
| How you get one | Chained encounters, breeding tricks | Wild spawns only — you cannot breed, hatch, or buy one |

## How to Spot a Lucky Pal

You do not need to squint at a Paldex entry to tell — a Lucky Pal announces itself from a distance, and the size tell is the most reliable one because it works even in bright daylight when the aura washes out. Three cues stack:

- **Size.** It is noticeably bigger than every other member of its species on screen. If a Cawgnito looks wrong next to the flock, it is not your imagination.
- **Glow.** A constant radiant shimmer around the model, which is why night is the easiest time to hunt. Ranging over dark terrain, the aura reads from far outside normal render distance for a nameplate.
- **Sound.** A distinct sparkle cue fires when one spawns near you, and Palworld gives it a dedicated **Lucky Pal** volume slider in the audio options — separate from ambient and Pal SFX. Push it up before a hunting session and you will hear spawns you never would have looked at.

Night hunting has a second benefit: 13 species only spawn after dark, so a night loop is the only window where a Lucky one of them can exist at all. That list includes the 1,109-point [Loupmoon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/loupmoon), the 769-point [Splatterina](https://palworld-db.com/pal/splatterina) and the 768-point [Lovander](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lovander), all of which are common enough to make the roll worth having open.

> **Tip.** Turn the **Lucky Pal** audio slider up and the master ambience down before a hunt. The cue is the only signal that fires for a spawn behind you, and it is the difference between a hunting route and a sightseeing flight.

## Lucky Passive Effects and Exact Numbers

Every Lucky Pal comes with the same rainbow-tier passive, occupying one of its four passive slots. The numbers are flat percentage boosts with no condition attached — no low-HP trigger, no daytime clause, no party-only restriction. It is live while the Pal fights beside you, while it sits in reserve, while you are riding it, and while it is hammering away at a workbench in your base, which is the part that makes it unusual.

| Stat | Bonus | When it applies |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Attack | +15% | Always — party, reserve, mounted, or at base |
| Defense | +15% | Always |
| Work Speed | +20% | Always — including base labour |

That combination is genuinely one of a kind. Lucky is the only passive in Palworld that pushes Attack and Work Speed up together: the three others that touch both stats all trade one away, with [Musclehead](https://palworld-db.com/passives) paying 50% Work Speed for its 30% Attack, Hooligan paying 10% Work Speed for 15% Attack, and Work Slave paying 30% Attack for 30% Work Speed. If you want a Pal that fights for you in the afternoon and mines for you overnight without a passive swap, Lucky is the only slot that does it in one line.

## Lucky vs the Passives It Competes With

The honest way to judge Lucky is not against a blank slot — it is against whatever else could sit in that slot. On that test it is a strong generalist and never a specialist. If you only care about damage, **Demon God** doubles Lucky's attack contribution; if you only care about a base worker, **Remarkable Craftsmanship** is nearly four times the work speed and even the rank-3 **Artisan** is two and a half times. Lucky wins when the Pal has two jobs, and it wins hard, because clearing two roles with one slot leaves three slots free for everything else.

| Passive | Rank | Attack | Defense | Work Speed | Other |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Lucky** | 4 | +15% | +15% | +20% | — |
| **Legend** | 4 | +20% | +20% | — | Move Speed +20% |
| **Demon God** | 4 | +30% | +5% | — | — |
| **Remarkable Craftsmanship** | 4 | — | — | +75% | — |
| **Diamond Body** | 4 | — | +30% | — | — |
| **Artisan** | 3 | — | — | +50% | — |
| **Ferocious** | 3 | +20% | — | — | — |

Lucky also stacks with all of them. Nothing in that list conflicts, so the ceiling on a Lucky catch is Lucky plus three specialists — a Lucky Pal rolling Artisan alongside it lands at +70% Work Speed before condensing or a Pal Soul is involved. See [List of All Rainbow Passive Skills and How to Get Them](https://palworld-db.com/guides/rainbow-passive-skills) for the full rainbow pool and what can be implanted, since Lucky itself cannot.

## Which Pals Can Turn Up Lucky

The Lucky roll happens when the world places a wild Pal, so a species is eligible only if it has wild spawn points somewhere on the map. **258 of the 288 Pals qualify.** The remaining 30 have no wild spawn points at all — they exist as fixed field bosses, raid-altar summons, tower fights or dungeon-only encounters — and none of them will ever appear with the glow. That includes every single one of the eight rarity-20 Pals, so there is no Lucky Jetragon and no Lucky Frostallion waiting for a patient enough player.

Jetragon, Frostallion, Frostallion Noct, Paladius, Necromus, Neptilius, Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero

Also off the table for the same reason: the dungeon-only [Mau](https://palworld-db.com/pal/mau), the base-invasion-only [Xenogard](https://palworld-db.com/pal/xenogard) and [Xenovader](https://palworld-db.com/pal/xenovader), and boss-only species like [Astegon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/astegon) and [Jormuntide](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jormuntide). Everything else on the [Palworld Pal Tier List](https://palworld-db.com/tier-list) is fair game, which is a much longer list than most players assume.

## Best Lucky Pals to Hunt for Your Base

Work Speed +20% compounds with a Pal's work suitability level, so a Lucky roll is worth most on a species that already sits near the top of a job. Handiwork, Mining, Watering, Kindling, Planting, Lumbering, Gathering, Cooling, Medicine Production and Generating Electricity all cap at level 8, and the Pals below are the highest-rated workers you can actually meet in the wild. [Celesdir](https://palworld-db.com/pal/celesdir) is the standout by a mile — Lumbering 7 with 1,613 spawn points means you will physically encounter it hundreds of times more often than anything else on this list, so it is where a Lucky roll is realistically going to land. [Solenne](https://palworld-db.com/pal/solenne) is the prize: Handiwork 8 is the ceiling for the busiest job in the game.

| Pal | Best job | Level | Spawn points | Why stop for it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Solenne](https://palworld-db.com/pal/solenne) | Handiwork | 8 | 47 | Top-of-class Handiwork; every crafting bench in your base runs off it |
| [Shaolong](https://palworld-db.com/pal/shaolong) | Watering | 8 | 63 | Watering 8 plus 135 Shot Attack — the two-job case Lucky is built for |
| [Bastigor](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bastigor) | Cooling | 8 | 69 | Cooling 8 with 140 HP; keeps a full refrigeration wing alive alone |
| [Orserk](https://palworld-db.com/pal/orserk) | Generating Electricity | 8 | 33 | The best generator Pal you can catch rather than breed |
| [Celesdir](https://palworld-db.com/pal/celesdir) | Lumbering | 7 | 1,613 | 1,613 spawn points — by far your most likely high-value Lucky encounter |
| [Dupin](https://palworld-db.com/pal/dupin) | Kindling | 7 | 81 | Kindling 7 for furnace lines, and easy to fight at its spawn levels |
| [Knocklem Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/knocklem-ignis) | Mining | 7 | 58 | Mining 7 with 135 Defense; survives an unattended ore node farm |
| [Starryon Primo](https://palworld-db.com/pal/starryon-primo) | Gathering | 7 | 63 | Gathering 7, the top wild-catchable rating for ranch output |
| [Lyleen](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lyleen) | Planting | 7 | 42 | Planting 7 keeps a berry and wheat plot self-sufficient |
| [Lyleen Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/lyleen-noct) | Medicine Production | 7 | 42 | Medicine Production 7 — the fastest cure-lines in the game |
| [Splatterina](https://palworld-db.com/pal/splatterina) | Handiwork | 6 | 769 | 769 night-only spawn points; the volume play for a Handiwork Lucky |
| [Sekhmet](https://palworld-db.com/pal/sekhmet) | Handiwork | 6 | 360 | Handiwork 6 at 360 spawn points — far more common than Anubis |

## Best Lucky Pals to Hunt for Combat

On the fighting side, +15% Attack is applied to the Pal's own attack stat, so it is worth the most on species that already hit hardest — and among Pals you can meet in the wild, 150 melee attack is the ceiling. [Jormuntide Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jormuntide-ignis) and [Blazamut](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut) both sit there, but with only 21 and 16 spawn points respectively you are relying on luck twice over. [Incineram](https://palworld-db.com/pal/incineram) is the sane pick: the same 150 melee attack at 105 spawn points, five times the exposure of either. [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) deserves its own mention — 130 Shot Attack at 1,990 spawn points is the single best odds-to-payoff trade in the game.

| Pal | Element | Melee Atk | Shot Atk | Spawn points | Why bring it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Jormuntide Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/jormuntide-ignis) | Dragon / Fire | 150 | 130 | 21 | Joint-highest melee attack you can catch wild, and Kindling 7 at base |
| [Blazamut](https://palworld-db.com/pal/blazamut) | Fire | 150 | 125 | 16 | 150 melee with Mining 7 — the two-job Lucky in its purest form |
| [Incineram](https://palworld-db.com/pal/incineram) | Fire / Dark | 150 | 100 | 105 | Same 150 melee ceiling at five times the encounter rate |
| [Cryolinx Terra](https://palworld-db.com/pal/cryolinx-terra) | Ground | 140 | 105 | 156 | 140 melee, 110 Defense and Lumbering 6 — the best all-rounder here |
| [Anubis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/anubis) | Ground | 130 | 130 | 35 | Even 130 in both columns plus Handiwork 6; the classic dream Lucky |
| [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) | Fire / Dark | 100 | 130 | 1,990 | 130 Shot Attack at 1,990 spawn points — the best odds on this table |
| [Ghangler Ignis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/ghangler-ignis) | Fire / Water | 100 | 130 | 405 | 130 Shot Attack with Kindling 5 and a common spawn pool |
| [Shadowbeak](https://palworld-db.com/pal/shadowbeak) | Dark | 130 | 120 | 11 | 140 Defense is the highest here, but 11 spawn points is brutal |

## Where to Hunt Lucky Pals

There is no item, food, weather or difficulty setting that raises the Lucky rate, and Pocketpair has never put a number on it. That leaves exactly one lever: spawns per hour. Every wild Pal the world places is another roll, so the productive hunt is a fast-travel loop — land, sweep the area, fly out far enough for the zone to unload, come back and let it repopulate. Do it over the densest spawn pools rather than pretty scenery, because a species with 1,600 points is generating rolls constantly while a 16-point species is barely generating any.

These are the thickest wild spawn pools on the map. Each map link opens that species' spawn overlay directly, so you can plan the loop before you take off.

| Pal | Spawn points | Worth catching Lucky? | Map |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Mimog](https://palworld-db.com/pal/mimog) | 5,302 | No — Transporting 2 and 60 Shot Attack, but it does mean constant rolls nearby | [Mimog spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=MimicDog) |
| [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) | 1,990 | Yes — 130 Shot Attack and Lumbering 5 | [Bushi Noct spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=Ronin_Dark) |
| [Bushi](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi) | 1,838 | Yes — 125 Shot Attack, easy fight at its spawn levels | [Bushi spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=Ronin) |
| [Omascul](https://palworld-db.com/pal/omascul) | 1,621 | Situational — Gathering 5 for a ranch line | [Omascul spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=MysteryMask) |
| [Smokie](https://palworld-db.com/pal/smokie) | 1,620 | No — Gathering 2 and nothing above 90 attack | [Smokie spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=BlackPuppy) |
| [Celesdir](https://palworld-db.com/pal/celesdir) | 1,613 | Yes — Lumbering 7, the best density-to-value ratio in the game | [Celesdir spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=WhiteDeer) |
| [Cawgnito](https://palworld-db.com/pal/cawgnito) | 1,463 | No — Lumbering 2, but the flocks make the glow obvious | [Cawgnito spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=DarkCrow) |
| [Turtacle](https://palworld-db.com/pal/turtacle) | 1,456 | No — Watering 2 and 115 Defense at best | [Turtacle spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=TentacleTurtle) |
| [Loupmoon](https://palworld-db.com/pal/loupmoon) | 1,109 | Situational — 130 melee attack, and night-only so the aura reads far | [Loupmoon spawn map](https://palworld-db.com/map?pal=Werewolf) |

Practical route: run a Celesdir-dense stretch during the day for the Lumbering 7 payoff, then switch to a Loupmoon or Splatterina loop after dark when the glow carries furthest. Full pin data for every species is on the [Palworld Interactive Map](https://palworld-db.com/map).

## Can You Breed a Lucky Pal?

No. The glow and the extra size are properties of how the world spawned that individual, not of its species or its passives, so a Lucky parent never produces a Lucky child — put two of them in a [Breeding Farm](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-breeding-works) and the egg hatches an entirely ordinary-looking Pal. Lucky is also absent from the random passive pool that an egg or a fresh wild catch rolls from, which is why you never see it appear out of nowhere on a bred Pal.

The passive itself is a different story. Inheritance copies from what the parents already hold, so a Lucky Pal can pass **Lucky** down to its offspring the same way it would pass any other passive — the child gets +15% Attack, +15% Defense and +20% Work Speed without ever having glowed. That is the actual reason to catch one: it is a breeding seed. One Lucky catch, run through the pipeline in [How to Min-Max Pals: IVs, Passives, Souls, and Condensing](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-min-max-pals), turns into a whole box carrying the passive.

## Can Alpha Pals Be Lucky?

No, and the reason is structural rather than bad luck. Field bosses sit on fixed markers that place one specific Pal at one specific level every time the timer resets — they are not drawn from the wandering wild spawn pool that the Lucky roll is attached to, so the aura never lands on one. What the top end gets instead is **Legend**, the +20% Attack / +20% Defense / +20% Move Speed passive welded onto the six legendary field bosses, which is a straight upgrade over Lucky in a fight and useless at a workbench.

That does not mean an alpha and a Lucky are mutually exclusive as goals. [Anubis](https://palworld-db.com/pal/anubis) has both a fixed alpha marker and 35 wild spawn points, so the alpha you fly to is guaranteed and never Lucky, while the wild ones scattered around the same desert can be. Every fixed marker and its level is mapped in [All Alpha Pals: Locations and Levels](https://palworld-db.com/alpha-pals).

## What Lucky Pals Drop

Beating or catching a Lucky Pal pays out its species' normal drop table plus [Ancient Civilization Parts](https://palworld-db.com/item/PalCrystal_Ex), the crafting material gating the Ancient Workbench line. That is a real bonus but a poor reason to hunt them — a Dualith alpha hands over 7 to 9 parts on a fixed 100% roll and respawns on a timer, which is a far steadier supply than waiting on a rare aura. Catch the Lucky Pal for the passive; farm the parts the boring way. Sources for every part are listed in [How to Get Ancient Civilization Cores and Uses](https://palworld-db.com/guides/how-to-get-ancient-civilization-cores).

One more thing worth knowing before the fight starts: the extra size does not come with extra capture resistance, so a Lucky Pal's catch odds are the same as any other member of its species at that level. Run the numbers on the [capture rate calculator](https://palworld-db.com/capture), chip it to a sliver, and do not panic-throw your whole stack of high-tier spheres.

## Summary

Palworld has no shinies, and Lucky Pals are better than shinies would have been. They are oversized glowing wild spawns carrying a rainbow passive worth +15% Attack, +15% Defense and +20% Work Speed — the only passive in the game that raises combat and base output at the same time. 258 of the 288 Pals can appear as one; the 30 that cannot are the fixed bosses, raid summons and dungeon exclusives, including all eight rarity-20 legendaries. You cannot breed one, you cannot boost the odds, and no item affects the roll: the whole hunt is a spawn-density game, which makes [Celesdir](https://palworld-db.com/pal/celesdir) at 1,613 spawn points and [Bushi Noct](https://palworld-db.com/pal/bushi-noct) at 1,990 the two species genuinely worth building a route around. Catch one, then breed the passive out of it.
