**Dawn of Palpagos**, the first booster set for the Palworld card game, has been almost impossible to find at retail since launch, and the card game team has now publicly apologised for it. A genuine display box is **12 packs of 7 cards**, so 84 cards total — if a listing has a different pack count, it is not a sealed box. The main set is 100 cards across RR, R, U and C, with parallel printings sitting on top as the chase pulls, and the parallel count has been reported at 61 against an original announcement of "50 or more".

The trial decks are the detail most people miss. Each one is a full 60-card product — a 50-card main deck plus 10 Soul cards — and it ships with a booster pack, a playmat and a life counter. There is no version of this where you walk into a store and buy a sealed box at retail price this week. ### Buy a Trial Deck Instead of a Booster Box

Trial decks were printed as an on-ramp product rather than a chase product, so they have held up in stock far better than boosters and they are much less attractive to resellers — there is no rare to pull, so there is no flip. Two decks, one Red・Blue and one Green・Purple, gets you a playable two-person kitchen table for roughly what a marked-up single box costs. You still get two boosters out of it as a bonus.

### Buy Singles for the Cards You Actually Want

If you are chasing one specific card, singles beat sealed by a wide margin during a shortage. A 100-card main set with 61 parallels on top means the odds of pulling any one named card out of an 84-card box are poor, and you are paying inflated sealed prices for those odds. Buying the card directly costs more per card and far less per *card you wanted*.

### Wait for the Extra Supply

The apology explicitly said more packs are being worked on, which is the strongest signal you will get that this is a supply problem rather than a deliberately small print run. Historically, secondary prices on a shortage set start sliding the moment a reprint is dated, not the moment it ships — so if you can sit on your hands, the announcement itself is your buy signal to *stop* buying.

## Why Japan Is Selling Boxes Without Shrink Wrap

In Japan, Dawn of Palpagos is going out without the protective shrink wrap around the box. That sounds like a cost cut but it is a deliberate anti-scalping move, and it is a common one in Japanese card retail. Sealed condition is most of what a resold box is worth — the guarantee that nobody has weighed, sorted or resealed it. Strip the wrap and that guarantee goes with it, so a flipped box is worth far less to the next buyer and the flip stops being worth the effort.

The knock-on effect is that stock stays with people who want to open it rather than people who want to store it, which is the whole point. The gap between 288 Paldeck entries and 219 Pals with wild spawns is the interesting number there. ### The Pals You Meet Most on Palpagos

If you want a sense of what the islands actually feel like to walk around, these are the five most common Pals by wild spawn point count. [Cawgnito](https://palworld-db.com/pal/cawgnito) leads by a huge margin at 1,463 spawn points — a third more than the runner-up — and Dark types take three of the top five, which is why the island reads as so much more hostile at night. Note that Duneshelter shows up as the single densest spot for two different Pals on this list; it is a desert hub with an unusually crowded spawn table.

The follow-up set is **Legends Awaken**, a 100-plus card expansion releasing **October 30** in Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese on the same day — which is itself a supply signal, since simultaneous three-language production means a much larger initial print than an import-first release. Four Pals are confirmed so far, and the spread is a Legendary, a tower boss, a regional variant and a mid-game workhorse.
