## Notes we already publish

- (use) The Stone Axe is the tool that lets you fell trees yourself — with one equipped you can chop trunks for Wood instead of waiting on base Pals with the Lumbering suitability. It is the reason the recipe sits at technology level 1: you need it before wood-hungry structures like the Palbox upgrades and the workbench line stop being a bottleneck.
- (use) It is a workbench craft, not a hand craft. The Primitive Workbench is the earliest station that will produce one, and every later bench in the line — High Quality Workbench, Weapon Workbench, the Assembly Line tiers, Ancient Workbench — keeps the recipe, so you never lose access to a cheap replacement.
- (strategy) 150 durability is the lowest of any axe in the game, so treat the Stone Axe as consumable early on: 5 Wood and 5 Stone is cheap enough that carrying a spare in your bag beats hiking back to base mid-run with a dead tool.
- (strategy) [[item:Axe_Tier_01]] is the straight upgrade at 30 attack and 250 durability, followed by [[item:Axe_Tier_02]] at 60 attack and 300 durability. Nothing about the Stone Axe scales, so once metal ingots are flowing there is no reason to keep crafting the stone version except as a stopgap.
- (strategy) 20 attack makes it a marginally better melee weapon than bare fists, but it is still a gathering tool first — it has no ranged option and no element, so anything that fights back is better handled by a Pal or by a bow.
