## Notes we already publish

- (use) There is no bench gate on this one. The recipe is taken by the whole cooking family — Campfire, Cooking Pot, Electric Kitchen, Large-Scale Stone Oven, Ancient Kitchen — and the Campfire sits at Technology level 2 for 1 point and 10 Wood, so the first fire you ever light already cooks it. Nothing about the dish changes at the higher kitchens, so there is no reason to hold a stack of [[item:Meat_LazyCatfish]] back waiting for a Cooking Pot at level 17.
- (use) Cooking the fish is free value: raw [[item:Meat_LazyCatfish]] fills 50 hunger, the broiled version fills 70, and one fish still makes one dish at the same 2 weight per unit. The job is 1,600 work — a fifth of a Campfire cycle for most cooks — so a full inventory of Dumud clears in one sitting rather than needing a dedicated kitchen shift.
- (strategy) Do not buy the description's promise about the mind: it returns 1 SAN, which is a rounding error against a Pal's sanity bar. Spend the same fish on [[item:Chowder]] when sanity is the actual problem — 2 Lettuce and 2 Tomato on top of the one [[item:Meat_LazyCatfish]] buys 21 SAN and 170 hunger. The catch is throughput: Chowder is 32,000 work against this dish's 1,600, twenty cooking cycles for one bowl. Broiled is what you mass-produce to keep a base fed; Chowder is what you cook deliberately for a worker that has stopped working.
