## Notes we already publish

- (use) The Defense buff runs for exactly 600 seconds — ten minutes on a timer that starts the moment you eat, not something tied to how full the hunger bar stays. It is also a single effect line: +20% Defense and nothing else riding along, unlike the burgers and fried dishes that pair their buff with a sanity or hunger resist. Eat it at the dungeon door or the tower lobby, not while you are still packing.
- (use) [[item:HotDog_2]] carries the identical buff — +20% Defense, same ten minutes — off a far cheaper dish. What the stew adds is the meal itself: 212 hunger and 27 sanity against the hot dog's 140 and 18. So the stew is what you eat when you want the buff and a full bar in one bite; if you are only after the defense number for a boss pull, the hot dog does it for a third of the ingredients.
- (strategy) [[item:DeerLocoMoco]] is built on the same [[item:Meat_Deer]] and gives +20% Attack for the same ten minutes. Every two cuts of venison in the box is one or the other, so decide which side of the fight you are short on before the pot goes on — a stack of venison will not cover both for a long raid.
- (strategy) The cook is 32,000 work. Out of 61 cooked food recipes only eight cost more (the five cakes, Mammorest Curry, Mushroom Quiche and Galeclaw Nikujaga), so this is a queue-and-leave job, not something to stand over. Put your best Kindling Pals on the pot and batch several at once — the ingredients are the slow part, the work timer is just a tax on doing it one at a time.
- (location) Gold is not the only route. The stew sits on the gift table of the food-loving visitor NPC, one of ten cooked dishes there, and it hands over 3 to 10 at a time. Its weighting is at the low end of that table — roughly a one-in-seventeen pull — but a single hit is worth up to 12,700 gold at the caravan price, so it is worth taking the gift over buying stacks outright.
