## Notes we already publish

- (use) The recipe sits at technology level 52 and costs a single technology point, which is cheap for that tier — the real gate is reaching 52 at all, since the gun it feeds ([[item:FlameThrower]]) is useless without it. There is only one fuel unlock and one fuel item: every schematic grade of the Flame Thrower, from Schematic 1 up to [[item:Blueprint_FlameThrower_5]], burns this same fuel, so upgrading the weapon never changes what you have to stock.
- (use) A Flame Thrower holds 100 fuel per tank, and the recipe yields 10 per batch, so filling one empty gun is exactly ten crafts: 20 [[item:CrudeOil]] and 10 [[item:IronIngot]]. Budget in tanks, not rounds. At 0.01 weight each, a thousand units is 10 weight — carrying three or four spare tanks into a raid costs you almost no capacity, so the limit on how much you bring is crude oil supply, never encumbrance.
- (strategy) This is one of the slowest ammo types in the game to produce. A batch of 10 carries 100,000 work — 10,000 per unit, roughly 2.5x a rifle round ([[item:RifleBullet]]) and 5x an assault rifle round ([[item:AssaultRifleBullet]]), with only missile and energy-weapon ammo costing more. Hand-cranking the bench for a full tank is a million work by yourself; queue it as a standing order and let high-Handiwork base Pals grind it down while you do something else.
- (strategy) Buying instead of crafting is a poor trade at scale: at 280 Gold a unit, one filled tank off the caravan shelf is 28,000 Gold. Treat the shop as a top-up when you are already at the merchant and short a few dozen, and let the oil rig crates carry the bulk — a single crate roll drops 100 to 200 at a time, which is one to two full tanks in one pull and skips the work cost entirely.
