## Notes we already publish

- (use) The technology sits at level 35 for 2 points, the second-latest unlock in the mid grenade line, yet it has the shortest bill of any of them: one [[item:Gunpowder2]] and one [[item:Wood_Fine]], with no Stone and no organ. Every other elemental throwable wants ten Stone plus a harvested organ — [[item:FragGrenade_Fire]] and its siblings — or a processed intermediate, as [[item:FragGrenade_Water]] does. Even the plain [[item:FragGrenade]] costs eleven items per craft against this one's two. The only real prerequisite is the Gunpowder technology itself at level 21 for another 2 points, which turns two [[item:Charcoal]] and one [[item:Sulfur]] into a unit, and any player already firing guns has that line running.
- (use) Hardwood is the half worth stockpiling, and it is easy: the Desert, Village and Volcano shops and the Wandering Trader all list it at 100 Gold apiece, so a few thousand Gold buys a war chest of grenades outright. Hunting is faster if you want it free — [[pal:Yeti_Grass]] drops 2 to 5 every kill, [[pal:TropicalOstrich]] 2 to 4, and [[pal:GrassPanda]] or [[pal:GrassPanda_Electric]] 1 to 3, all at a guaranteed rate. Because Hardwood is also the wood tier your late base furniture and weapon benches eat, keep the grenade batch separate from the building pile or you will find yourself an upgrade short.
- (strategy) Grass is the element Ground pals cannot resist, so this is the throwable for the desert and the dunes. The best targets are the pure-Ground ones with no second element to blunt the hit: [[pal:Anubis]], [[pal:WingGolem]], [[pal:CubeTurtle]], [[pal:DarkScorpion_Ground]], [[pal:HerculesBeetle_Ground]], [[pal:DrillGame]] and [[pal:RockBeast]]. Every Terra variant falls in that bracket too, which makes a pocket of these the general answer to the Terra line. It is also the matchup insurance for an Electric-heavy team — Ground is exactly what shuts your Electric pals down, and a grenade covers the fight they lose. Damage is a flat 750, the same as every other grenade in the line, so there is nothing to gain from throwing it outside a Ground fight; carry the element you need and let the rest sit in the box.
