## Notes we already publish

- (use) Three seeds buy the plot and nothing after that. The Lettuce Plantation sits at technology level 25 for 2 points and is built with 100 [[item:Wood]], 70 [[item:Stone]], 10 [[item:PalFluid]] and 3 Lettuce Seeds, paid once at construction — the plot then replants itself out of its own harvest, so a stack of seeds in the chest is dead weight. The 10 Aquatic Pal Fluids are the real gate here, not the seeds.
- (use) A lettuce plot is the heaviest of the early plantations to staff. Each cycle runs 5.5 minutes and pays out 10 [[item:Lettuce]], but the seeding, watering and harvest stages carry 15,000 work apiece — 45,000 total against tomato's 33,000 and wheat's 22,500. Planting, Watering and Gathering all have to be covered by the Pals stationed at the base or the cycle parks at whichever stage is unmanned, and at level 25 that usually means dedicating three workers rather than hoping one generalist keeps up.
- (use) Lettuce on its own restores only 15 hunger, so the plot is worth building for what the cooking pot does with it. One 10-lettuce harvest covers five [[item:Salad]] (2 Lettuce + 2 [[item:Tomato]], 4,000 work, 84 hunger and 11 sanity) or five [[item:GenghisKhan]] at 147 hunger each, which is the cheapest sanity-and-food combination a lettuce plot unlocks. Higher up: [[item:Hamburger_2]] and [[item:HotDog_2]] each take 2 Lettuce for 162 and 140 hunger, [[item:Chowder]] takes 2 for 170, [[item:Seafood_Salada]] burns 4 for only 95, and [[item:Cake03]] wants 7 Lettuce alongside 8 [[item:Flour]], 8 Tomato, 8 [[item:Egg]] and 4 [[item:Honey]] for 696 hunger and 87 sanity — nearly a whole harvest, and 300,000 work, so plan on one Vegetable Cake per plantation cycle at best.
- (location) The standing supply the shop list misses is a Ranch. [[pal:VioletFairy]] stationed there rolls one of six seed types per drop, and lettuce is the rarest of the six at 5 of 45 total weight — 11.1%, behind tomato, wheat, potato, carrot and onion in that order. What scales is the count, not the odds: a rank 1 Vaelet hands over 1-2 seeds on that roll, rank 8 pays 2-9, and rank 10 pays 4-11. Vaelet also has Planting 3 and Gathering 3, so the same Pal covers two of the three plantation jobs if you move it off the ranch.
- (strategy) Do not hunt the droppers for these. Every merchant that stocks them charges 40 Gold, putting a full plantation's seed cost at 120 Gold — recovered by selling two of the ten Lettuce from the first harvest, since Lettuce is worth 80 Gold each. The 100% rates on Flopie and Dinossom are worth pocketing from fights you were already taking, but the Caravan, Desert and Volcano shops make deliberate farming pointless.
