## Notes we already publish

- (use) Nothing in the Technology tree hands you this recipe — the permission sits on the Defense Support Whistle Schematic ([[item:Blueprint_Otomo_Defense_up1_2]]), and the bench that accepts it is the High-Quality Workbench. Budget the paper before the materials: 20 Ingot and 20 Horn are trivial by the time you can reach the pools that stock the schematic, and the build itself is only 50,000 work against a 150,000 median for craftable accessories, so the whistle is one of the cheaper things in its class to actually assemble once you hold the recipe.
- (location) Three grade 5 pools carry the schematic and they are not close to equal: treasure chests inside Feybreak Cavern at 3.45%, crates on the oil rigs at 1.18%, ordinary Feybreak chests at 0.19% — about 29, 85 and 524 openings per copy. Run the cavern. The field chests are eighteen times the work for the same sheet of paper, and the rigs are only worth it if you were going to fight through them anyway.
- (strategy) The whistle buys Pal Defense Up Lv. 3 and that is where this line stops — the element talismans sit a full tier above it at Lv. 4 and bolt on a large damage boost for one type, so something like [[item:Otomo_DFEarth_ElementBoost_1]] beats the whistle outright on any Ground Pal for a gold value of 48,480 against 32,400 here. What keeps the whistle relevant is that it asks nothing about typing: if the Pal at your side changes with the fight, one whistle covers all of them, where a talisman collection means a talisman per element and a swap every time you switch.
- (use) Two upgraded copies exist — [[item:Otomo_Defense_up2]] and [[item:Otomo_Defense_up3]] — and the wording climbs from slightly raises to greatly raises across the three. Neither of the upgraded ones has a recipe of its own and neither appears on any drop table, so there is no second schematic to hunt and no better version to farm: you craft the base whistle once and improve that copy. Keep the Ancient Civilization Parts you would have spent on a spare.
