- (use) The recipe is a Technology tree entry at level 33 and costs 2 ordinary technology points, so it is cheap to grab the moment you hit the level. Do it early: nearly every firearm on the tree is gated behind a Polymer count, and the material has no substitute.
- (strategy) The bottleneck is never the Sulfur, it is the two [[item:PalOil]] per unit. The fastest kill-for-oil target is [[pal:GrassMammoth]], which drops 5-10 High Quality Pal Oil every single time — one Mammorest is two to five Polymer's worth of oil. [[pal:GhostDragon_Fire]] pays 5-6 and [[pal:LazyDragon]] 1-4, all at a guaranteed rate.
- (strategy) For hands-off supply, park a [[pal:LazyCatfish]] on a Ranch — Dumud produces High Quality Pal Oil passively, so a base with a few of them turns Polymer into a queue-and-forget craft instead of a hunting trip.
- (strategy) If you would rather pay than farm, every merchant that stocks High Quality Pal Oil sells it at a flat 300 Gold — Wandering Merchants, the desert and volcano settlement traders, and the caravan all use the same price. That puts a bought-out Polymer at 600 Gold of oil plus one Sulfur, which is worth it when you are one weapon short of a boss run.
- (strategy) The PIDF Illegal Factory expedition returns 10-20 High Quality Pal Oil per run at a guaranteed rate. It is a Very Hard, two-hour posting, so send a squad out overnight and you come back to enough oil for five to ten Polymer without touching the bench.
