- (location) This one is research rather than loot, and it is research you wait a very long time for: the Technology tree hands it over at level 79 for 4 Technology points, in the last bracket the tree has. Only 9 of the 588 entries unlock at 79 or above, and the four that share level 79 with it are Jetragon's Missile Launcher and Lightweight Ancient Armor at 5 points apiece, Nutrient Tonic at 4, and the Jetragon Statue at 1. No new bench arrives with it — the Pal Gear Workbench that has been in your base since the early game builds it. The 50,000 work is above the 30,000 that is typical for Pal gear but trivial for the company it keeps; Jetragon's launcher, unlocked on the very same level, asks ten times as much.
- (use) Building the saddle is what switches on Indestructible Fortress, and that is the real product here. Explosive damage against you falls by 60%, and condensing walks it up to 65, 70, 75 and 80. The stun resistance bundled with it does not scale at all — it reads 100% at rank one and 100% at rank five, so a freshly caught Aegidron already makes you immune to being stunned, and every soul you feed it afterwards buys nothing but the last 20 points of blast resistance. The cover extends to your other party Pals as well as to you, and it keys on the Pal being in the party rather than on you being in the seat, so it holds while you fight on foot. A second Aegidron adds nothing — the effect does not stack with itself.
- (strategy) Treat this as defensive gear, not transport. Three other partner skills mention explosions — Flaracle's, Loomen's and Silvance's — and all three apply blast damage to enemies rather than absorbing it, so nothing else in the game covers the ground this does, and nothing else resists stun at all. As a ride it is unremarkable: 1,100 land sprint is 21st among the 77 rideable ground Pals and the identical figure Univolt has been posting since its level 14 saddle, while Hartalis and Necromus were already doing 1,900 from saddles at 70 and 61. The 300 stamina, 12th of 115 mounts, is the only mount stat that justifies the seat. Getting the Pal is the other half of the plan: Aegidron has no ordinary spawn points anywhere, day or night, so the single wild one is a fixed level 79 alpha — exactly the level the saddle needs, which means fighting for it gates the saddle behind itself. 65 breeding pairs produce one instead. Hatch it while you are still climbing toward 79 and the mount is sitting ready the moment the research opens.
