## Notes we already publish

- (location) Level 45 is the real gate here, not the materials. The saddle is a Technology tree entry costing 2 points, so a Quivern Botan you catch in your thirties sits in the box unrideable until you get there — and the plain Quivern Saddle opens seven levels earlier at 38, for 3 points rather than 2, if you want a flying Dragon before then.
- (use) The saddle is what switches on Grass Dragon Affection, and every part of that skill is written to fire only while you are in the seat. Riding, your shots are converted to the Grass element and your ranged attack climbs 5%; condensing Quivern Botan lifts that to 7, 10, 14 and finally 20% at four stars. The damage half reads off shot attack alone, so a melee build gets a flying mount out of this and nothing else — the bonus is worth building around only if you fight from the saddle with a gun or bow.
- (strategy) The element swap is the whole decision, and it cuts both ways. Grass beats Ground and Water, so the Botan is the mount to be on through swamp and shoreline work, but it also hands Fire Pals a resistance your Dragon-typed shots would not have given them. Quivern's own saddle carries the larger raw number besides — 15% ranged attack rising to 30% condensed, against this one's 5 to 20 — so the Botan is not the upgrade its later unlock implies. Travel time is a wash either way: both fly at the same sprint speed on the same stamina pool, so the choice is purely about what you are shooting at.
