## Notes we already publish

- (use) The "keeps hunger down" line is a real buff with numbers behind it: eating the stew applies 25% hunger resistance for 600 seconds, so for ten minutes your fullness bar drains a quarter slower than normal. That is the whole point of the dish — the 132 hunger it restores is beside the point, and it is the buff you are paying for.
- (use) Do not stew venison you were going to eat. The same [[item:Meat_IceDeer]] cooked plain becomes [[item:BakedMeat_IceDeer]] at 252 hunger, nearly double what the stew returns, and costs you no tomatoes. Stew it only when you want the ten-minute hunger-resist window and the 17 SAN — before a long haul across the map, a deep dungeon run or a build session where you do not want to stop and eat. For refilling the bar, or for feeding the meat to a pal, roast it and keep the tomatoes.
- (use) The tomatoes, not the meat, are what gate this recipe. A Campfire cannot handle a two-ingredient dish, so the earliest station that will cook it is the Cooking Pot at Technology level 17 — and the Tomato Plantation does not unlock until level 21, so in practice the stew starts at 21 unless you buy [[item:Tomato]] from a wandering merchant, the Desert shop or the Volcano shop at 80 gold each. Past that, the Electric Kitchen (41), Large-Scale Stone Oven (49) and Ancient Kitchen (70) cook the identical stew and only buy you throughput and Kindling seats. One plantation harvest yields 10 tomatoes, which is exactly five stews.
- (drops) Both halves of the recipe are farmable on a timer rather than hunted. [[pal:IceDeer]] gives a guaranteed 2 [[item:Meat_IceDeer]] per kill, so one Reindrix covers two stews' worth of meat, and if you would rather not go north for it the venison also sells at a wandering merchant for 350 gold and comes back from the Astral Frost Cavern expedition (50% for 3-6) and the PAL Genetic Research Laboratory expedition (guaranteed 10-20). Pair that with a tomato plot at base and the stew becomes something you batch rather than something you find.
