## Notes we already publish

- (location) Nothing arrives on its own until the pen exists: the Ranch is a level 5 technology that costs 2 points and 30 Wood ([[item:Wood]]), 30 Fiber ([[item:Fiber]]) and 20 Stone ([[item:Stone]]) to place. Before that, the only way to hold any is to fight Woolipop Terra ([[pal:SweetsSheep_Ground]]) in the field, which pays 1-2 every time with no failed roll. Both routes need the same Pal, so a captured one is worth more parked in the ranch than kept on the team.
- (use) The two things that consume it are late technologies — Special Cake ([[item:Cake05]]) at level 74 and Nutrient Tonic ([[item:Supplement]]) at level 79 — so a ranch started early banks caramel for dozens of levels before you can spend any. That is fine to let run: it stacks to 9999 at 0.2 weight, so an idle pen costs nothing but the Pal slot.
- (strategy) For Special Cake the candy is the easy half. One cake wants 8 of it plus 20 Flour ([[item:Flour]]), 15 Milk ([[item:Milk]]), 15 Egg ([[item:Egg]]) and 2 Mammorest Meat ([[item:Meat_GrassMammoth]]) — the meat is what actually gates the batch, since it means hunting Mammorest. Nutrient Tonic is the reverse problem at 18 caramel a unit, which is where one Woolipop Terra stops being enough and a second or third in the same ranch starts paying for itself.
