- (use) The recipe unlocks on the Technology tree at level 25 for 2 Ancient Technology Points, and it is chained behind [[item:Unlock_Picking_Tier1]] — the level 16, 1-point rung — so you cannot skip straight to the silver tier. Budget 3 ancient points total if you are starting from nothing, and note the same chain continues into [[item:Unlock_Picking_Tier3]] at level 53 for another 3.
- (use) This rung answers exactly one lock: the chests that ask for a [[item:TreasureBoxKey02]]. It does nothing for gold-locked chests, and using it on a copper lock wastes the better tool, so keep [[item:Unlock_Picking_Tier1]] stock on hand rather than picking everything with the same tier.
- (strategy) Opening with a pick is not instant — it starts a lock-turning minigame where you have to stop the pick inside the narrow band where the cylinder gives, and the pick is spent whether or not you find it. Craft them in batches before heading out; they weigh nothing and stack to 9999, so a stack of twenty costs you nothing to carry and covers the misses.
