# Paloxite

Leaked World Tree energy that crystallized over long years; bare contact rusts and decays anyone unprotected. Mastering how delicately it must be handled is what leads to the pinnacle of ancient technology.

## Notes we already publish

- (location) Recycling and the 60-minute expedition are not the only taps. Paloxite also stands on the World Tree map as red crystal ore you mine yourself, and the nodes come in tight clusters rather than scattered singles. The densest one reported is the southeastern bank of Remnant Riverside, near (-1674, 1536): roughly five nodes inside one short walk, on flat ground, with a fast travel point close enough that you can round-trip a full bag without flying.
- (location) Other clusters worth a circuit, all on the World Tree map: the watchtower at Gilded City Ruins near (-1894, 1386), where the nodes sit at several different heights; the northwestern shore of Alluvion Lakefront near (-1703, 1410); the base of the giant orange crystal near (-1762, 1480); the ground under the curved giant branches near (-1864, 1506); and the waterfall below Boreal Summit near (-1819, 1541). Most of these want a mountable flier — the nodes are on ledges rather than on the path — so a single loop that strings them together beats farming any one of them repeatedly.
- (strategy) Mining the nodes without protection wastes the trip: World Tree harvestables disappear as you walk up to them. [[item:WorldTreeHolyWater]] is the consumable fix, but the permanent one is a Pal in your party carrying a World Tree passive, and there are seven of them — Demon's Hand, Dimensional Leap, God of Destruction, Hermit Sage, Sanctified Meat Shield, Twin-Edged Holy Blade and World Tree Seedbed. Every one is rank 5 and every one is paid for with a real drawback (God of Destruction halves max HP, Twin-Edged Holy Blade drops defense 30%), so the cheapest carrier is a Pal you are bringing for hauling rather than for fighting.
- (strategy) Once a party Pal holds one of those passives the protection costs nothing per trip, which changes the maths on [[pal:DrillGame]]. Drill Crusher chews through a node field far faster than a pickaxe, and the usual objection to it — that it burns Holy Water faster than you can brew it — only applies if you are still drinking the potion.
- (use) Paloxite weighs 5 a piece, so the 15-30 an expedition brings back is 75-150 weight landing in one drop, and a good node circuit fills a bag faster than most players expect. Bring a carry-weight Pal or a chest at the fast travel point before you set out, not after you are already overloaded.
