Soft Hat
Armor · ArmorHead0★Soft Hat is 132nd of 202 head pieces by defense, at 25 against the 650 of Ancient Helm.
Wearing it also carries the effect Element Resist Earth 1, which matters more than the raw numbers in the biomes that punish you for the wrong outfit.
It feeds no other recipe, which makes it a terminal item: craft what you will actually carry and stop there.

Wood×5Where to Find Soft Hat
Soft Hat is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Every Tier of Soft Hat
The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 25 to 100, a 4x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
What Soft Hat Does
Soft Hat grants Element Resist Earth 1: Element Resist Earth +15.
Schematics That Unlock Soft Hat
Soft Hat is not learned from the Technology tree — you need a schematic for it. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.
| Schematic | Rarity | Where it comes from |

Alternatives and Upgrades
Silk Hat matches it exactly at 25 defense — those two differ in what they resist and what they weigh, not in raw defense, so picking between them is a swap rather than an upgrade. The next real step is Monarch's Crown at 30; below it is Tricorne at 25.
