Where to Find Wool
9 Pals drop Wool when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.
If you would rather just buy it, the cheapest seller is Caravan Shop at 200 Gold, and 3 other shops stock it too.
Hands-off option: Melpaca, Cremis and Lamball produce it at a Ranch, so a single assigned Pal keeps a slow supply coming in.

Using Wool Well
Wool is gated behind itself for two Technology levels. The Shoddy Bed unlocks at level 3 and wants 1 Wool, but the Ranch — the only structure that produces wool passively — is a level 5 unlock costing 30 Wood, 30 Fiber and 20 Stone. The first piece you ever need therefore cannot come from a ranch. Knock out a Lamball instead: it drops 1-3 every time, and one is enough to stop sleeping on the ground.
Order your ranch hires by ranch level, not by how much wool the Pal drops when killed. Lamball works a Ranch at level 1, so it starts producing the moment the structure goes up; Cremis and Melpaca both sit idle until the Ranch is upgraded to level 2. Two or three Lamball on a day-one ranch out-produce a single Melpaca you have to wait for, and Lamball is the easiest of the three to catch in quantity — the ranch tick does not care about the Pal's rarity.
Nothing about wool is a percentage gamble — every Pal that carries it drops it on 100% of kills, so the only question is how many per body. Kingpaca and its Cryst variant hand over a flat 5, Sweepa 3-5, Melpaca 2-5. At a merchant price of 200 Gold a unit, one Kingpaca is worth 1,000 Gold of shop stock, which makes a single alpha hunt a faster answer to a 20-Wool undershirt than a shopping trip.
