Where to Find Onion Seeds
4 Pals drop Onion Seeds when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.

Four Pals drop these, but the four are nowhere near equal once you look at how many of each the island actually holds. Broncherry has 482 spawn points and hands over 1-2 every single kill, and it is out in daylight as readily as after dark — Cinnamoth Forest carries 69 of those points, Hypocrite Hill 64 and Eastern Wild Island 48, and there is a level 23 Alpha if you want one fixed target instead of a sweep. Palumba is the same guaranteed 1-2 but from only 42 points, thinly spread across Seaward Passage, Oasis Isle and the Sealed Realm of Terraria. Broncherry Aqua is a trap on paper: same 100% drop, 7 spawn points in the whole world, 5 of them inside the Sealed Realm of the Swift. Vaelet is the weakest kill of the four at 50% for a single seed.
Vaelet is worth far more penned than killed. It is the one Pal whose Ranch output is seeds, and it rolls from a six-way pool: Tomato at 10 weight, Wheat 9, Potato 8, Carrot 7, Onion 6 and Lettuce 5, so Onion lands about 13% of the time — roughly one drop in seven or eight. The pen itself is cheap and early, Technology 5 for 30 Wood, 20 Stone and 30 Fiber, and Vaelet's Farming 2 covers the Ranch's rank 1 requirement on its own. Amount is where the Condenser pays: a fresh Vaelet gives 1-2 seeds a drop, four ranks up it gives 1-6, so one condensed bird beats three ordinary ones in the same pen. Catching one is the hard part — 32 spawn points total, 20 at the Secluded Cemetery and 11 on Castaway Beach in the Sea Breeze Archipelago, and only 12 of the 32 are live during the day, so go at night.

Using Onion Seeds Well
The seed sink is a building, not a recipe. An Onion Plantation unlocks at Technology 36 for 2 points and costs 3 Onion Seeds, 30 Wood, 20 Stone and 2 Aquatic Pal Fluids, once — the plot regrows by itself afterwards and never asks for seeds again. Staffing it needs Planting, Watering and Gathering all at rank 1, and missing any one of the three stalls the plot at that step rather than slowing it down. The three Pals that drop the seeds are also the three that run the plot: Broncherry is Planting 5, Broncherry Aqua is Watering 5, and Palumba covers Planting 4 and Gathering 4, so a farming trip can bring back both the seeds and the crew. Onion is the slowest crop in the game though, 6.5 minutes for a batch of 10, behind even Carrot — plan on two plots if a Cooking Pot is meant to keep up.
Onion Seeds are the only vegetable seed with a use beyond a plantation, which is why three is not the number to stop at. The Vaelet Ring takes 10 of them plus 10 Tomato Seeds, 20 Refined Ingot and 5 Ancient Civilization Parts, and it is a genuinely strong partner accessory — Lv. 4 Ground damage reduction and Lv. 4 Grass damage for whichever Pal is fighting beside you. Both seed types in that bill come out of the same Vaelet Ranch, so the pen that supplies the farm is also what pays for the ring.
