Where to Find Decayed Ancient Relic
143 Pals drop Decayed Ancient Relic when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.
It also shows up as world loot — junk hauls while fishing in the World Tree, treasure chests in the World Tree and fishing the treasure spots in the World Tree, and 5 more pools besides, usually 1–3 at a time. Higher-grade chests carry the better rolls, so the ones guarded by a camp are usually worth the detour.
Sending a team on the World Tree Subterrenean City Ruins expedition brings some back without you leaving base.

Using Decayed Ancient Relic Well
The only thing this relic is for is feeding the Ancient Relic Recycler, a Technology 74 structure costing 3 points and built from 50 Paloxite Ingot, 50 Mythical Wood, 30 Ancient Civilization Parts and 20 Ancient Civilization Core. It draws 800 power and only asks for rank 1 Handiwork, so any Pal with the suitability at all can run it. Every Decayed relic put through returns 1-3 Mythical Wood and 1-3 Paloxite with no roll involved, then rolls seven independent bonus slots on top: a single Ancient Civilization Core at 20%, five separate Radiant Gem slots at 10%, 5%, 2.5%, 1.25% and 0.625% that each pick one of the nine elements at random, a Disposable Implant slot at 0.8125% spread across 16 implants, three manual-and-fruit slots at 2.5%, 1.25% and 0.625% covering Training Manuals, Technical Manuals, Life Fruit and the rest of that pool, and a weapon or armor schematic slot at 0.13%.
Averaged out, a Decayed relic is worth 2 Mythical Wood, 2 Paloxite and a fifth of an Ancient Civilization Core, with a Radiant Gem landing about once every five relics and a schematic about once every 770. That makes it a bulk material rather than a lottery ticket: a hundred of them come back as roughly 200 wood, 200 Paloxite and the 20 Cores a second Recycler costs to build, which is the reason to keep pushing them through instead of hoarding. Grade moves the rare slots, not the guaranteed ones, and it moves them fast - the same recycle on a Dormant Ancient Relic already pays 24% on the Core and 0.59% on the schematic, and the gap widens at every step above that. If you are chasing schematics rather than materials, burn the Decayed pile for wood and ore and save the inventory space for the brighter grades.
