How to Get Eikthyrdeer
Eikthyrdeer is Neutral, so a Dark attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Wild Eikthyrdeer spawn between level 6 and 80. Higher-level ones are markedly harder to hold — take a low one first and come back for the rest when you are stacking a condenser.
Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it middle of the road: take the health bar down first and aim for its back.
DarkPlaying Eikthyrdeer Well
Antler Uppercut unlocks at level 7 and is a mounted tool as much as a move: it charges and launches whatever it hits into the air, and while you are riding you steer the direction of the charge instead of eating whatever angle the AI picks. That makes it the reliable opener on the mount. The rest of the kit drifts to Ground damage — Stone Blast at 15, Stone Cannon at 22, Rock Lance at 40 — so a mid-game Eikthyrdeer fights on the ground element even though its own typing is Neutral, and it takes extra damage from Dark attacks the whole way.
The saddle is the whole point, and it pays for itself. Eikthyrdeer Saddle sits at technology level 12 for 2 points and wants 5 Leather, 20 Fiber, 3 Horn, 10 Ingot and 15 Paldium Fragment — and Eikthyrdeer drops both the Leather (2-3) and the Horn (2) every time you kill one, so three of them in the grasslands cover the animal parts of the bill. Once it is unlocked you get the first mount in the game that can jump twice in mid-air, which turns ledges you would otherwise have to climb with a stamina bar into a straight line. Guardian of the Forest stays dormant until that tech is unlocked, so skipping the saddle costs you the logging bonus as well as the ride.
Keep it in the party, not in the base, if wood is what you want. Its base work sheet is Lumbering 2 and nothing else — a mediocre logger to assign to a tree in a camp — while Guardian of the Forest multiplies the wood you chop yourself, climbing from more than double at rank one to five times at rank five. A condensed Eikthyrdeer riding along behind you out-produces the same Pal standing at a Logging Site, which is the opposite of how most work Pals are used.

Where to Find Eikthyrdeer
Eikthyrdeer spawn locations in the wild — every marked spot is a known spawn area.
Most of them are around Islandhopper Coast (15.9% of known spots), with smaller pockets near Sealed Realm of the Ardent and Ravine Entrance. They come in groups of up to 2, so plan sphere stock for more than one.
Dungeons Eikthyrdeer Appears In
Besides its wild habitat, Eikthyrdeer turns up inside 2 caverns, and takes the boss chamber in 2 of them. Caverns are the reliable option when the overworld roll is not going your way.
the boss chamber fight is level 10–13, and ordinary cavern spawns run level 6–9.
