Reading the Element Chart

Nine elements, and the relationship is one-directional: each element beats exactly one other and is beaten by exactly one. Hitting a weakness lands roughly one and a half times the damage, and taking one costs you the same — which is why the wrong element on a boss run feels less like a slow fight and more like a losing one.

The counter finder answers the practical question. Rather than reading the whole grid, name the Pal you are about to fight and it returns what that Pal is weak to, together with the Pals and moves that exploit it. For a dual-element target the useful line is the one both halves share.

Your Pal's element is not your damage element. The move decides the damage type, so a Pal can carry a move outside its own element and still hit a weakness — worth checking on the active skills list before you assume a team cannot cover a matchup.
