How to Get Blazamut Ryu
Blazamut Ryu is not found in the wild at all — it is summoned. Place Blazamut Ryu Slab on a raid altar at your base and beat it there; the slab is the whole gate, so the fight is a gear check rather than a hunt.
Blazamut Ryu is Dragon / Fire, so an Ice or Water attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it dead average, which makes the back-strike bonus worth lining up before you throw.
There is no wild encounter and no sphere throw involved — the only way to own one is to summon the raid at a Summoning Altar (technology level 33, 100 Stone and 20 Paldium Fragment) and win. The clear hands you an egg that rolls 90% ordinary Blazamut Ryu and 10% alpha, so an alpha is a matter of running the fight again rather than doing anything different inside it.
IceWaterPlaying Blazamut Ryu Well
The level 55 raid always drops a Blazamut Ryu (Ultra) Slab, and so does the level 80 fight it summons. Beat the normal version once and the harder tier is self-funding forever; the Ultra fragments are only ever a backup if you lose a slab. The first clear also pays 2-4 Ancient Civilization Core, a Beam Slicer skill fruit and your pick of a Mining, Lumbering or Gathering work-suitability ticket.
Water is only the answer for the first half of the fight. Partway through it shifts to Electricity, sheds its Fire moves — Flame Wall, Eruption, Fireball and Dragon Meteor all leave the rotation — and picks up a lightning kit while shocking everything in the arena. Your Water squad becomes the thing taking super-effective hits, so bench them for a Ground answer at the switch. It also gains defence and movement buffs on top of a Dragon-damage boost, which makes the second half meaningfully tankier: burn as much health as you can before it flips.
Eternal Flame, which every hatched one is born with, adds 30% to Fire and 30% to Lightning damage — nothing to its Dragon side. Its Dragon moves are the big numbers on paper, but a Fire build around Ignis Breath and Brawn Impact, or an Electric one using its Thunderstorm, Tri-Lightning or Spark Blast egg moves, gets a multiplier that a Dragon fruit build never sees. Feed it fruit accordingly.
You do not have to farm fragments at all. A complete Blazamut Ryu Slab sits in the technology-book stands of Cherry Blossom Cave on Sakurajima at roughly a 1-in-4 chance per stand, which skips the four-Blazamut Ryu Slab Fragment craft entirely. Fragments remain the reliable route — hard and very hard expeditions pay 1-2 per dispatch — but check the cave first if you are already clearing Sakurajima dungeons.
