Medium Pal Soul
Material · MaterialMonster2★The spirit a Pal leaves behind. Offered at a Statue of Power, it coaxes out abilities the Pal had kept dormant.
It is a component in one recipe, so keep a couple spare rather than a stockpile.
Details
It weighs almost nothing and stacks to 9,999, so there is no reason not to carry a full stack. It sells for almost nothing, so do not bother hauling it to a shop.
Medium Pal Soul Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 1 material across 1 type. Each craft returns 2, so the real cost per unit is lower than the list suggests.
Where to Find Medium Pal Soul
10 Pals drop Medium Pal Soul when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.
It also shows up as world loot — field drops in the Mount Obsidian, field drops in the Desert and field drops in the Snowfields, and 14 more pools besides, usually 1–2 at a time. Higher-grade chests carry the better rolls, so the ones guarded by a camp are usually worth the detour.
Sending a team on the Secret Realm of the Forest, Blazing Cavern and Hidden Sanctum of the Desert expeditions brings some back without you leaving base.
Chests inside 2 caverns, including Cavern of the Dunes and Volcanic Cavern, can hold it as well.

Using Medium Pal Soul Well
A Pal's Statue of Power rank runs 1 to 20, and Medium Pal Souls own the middle of it: rank 5 asks for 1, rank 6 for 2, rank 7 for 3. Six of them carry a Pal across the whole band. Ranks 1-4 run on Small Pal Soul, and rank 8 hands over to Large Pal Soul.
The ladder converts both ways at two-for-one, and nothing is lost in either direction. Two Small Pal Soul press into one Medium; two Medium press into one Large Pal Soul; breaking one back down returns the two you paid. Small souls stacking up from early field drops are never wasted currency.
Resetting a Pal's ranks costs Gold on a scale tied to how far it has climbed: 1,000 at rank 5, 1,200 at rank 6, 1,500 at rank 7. Experimenting inside the Medium band is close to free next to the 30,000 a rank-20 Pal charges to undo.
Ranking a single Pal from 1 to 20 costs 10 Small, 6 Medium, 6 Large and 30 Giant Pal Soul. Since the tiers trade at 2:1, that whole bill is 143 Medium Pal Souls for one maxed Pal — which is why the Medium band feels cheap and everything past rank 10 does not.
