Ground Radiant Gem

Material · MaterialMonster2

World Tree energy pools inside a Pal's body until it hardens into this gem. Processed, it turns into an item that unlocks power Pals keep hidden.

It is a component in one recipe, so keep a couple spare rather than a stockpile.

Where to Find Ground Radiant Gem

15 Pals drop Ground Radiant Gem when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.

It also shows up as world loot — recycling Decayed Ancient Relics, recycling Dormant Ancient Relics and recycling Gorgeous Ancient Relics, and 6 more pools besides, usually 1–3 at a time. Higher-grade chests carry the better rolls, so the ones guarded by a camp are usually worth the detour.

Sending a team on the World Tree Subterrenean City Ruins and The World Tree's Forbidden Area expeditions brings some back without you leaving base.

Using Ground Radiant Gem Well

The 50 gems are only half of what the Ground Awakening Crystal asks for. The bench also wants 10 World Tree Holy Water per crystal, and the craft is 30,000 work for a single unit, so a lone Handiwork Pal will sit on it for a long stretch. Every element's crystal is built to the identical pattern — 50 of that element's Radiant Gem plus the same 10 Holy Water — which means the Holy Water is the shared cost across all nine and the gem is the only part that is element-specific. If you intend to awaken more than one element, the Holy Water line is the thing to get running early; the Ground gems themselves are the easier half of the bill.

Recycling Ancient Relics is a way to spend a relic surplus, not a farming plan. Every relic grade returns the gem at single-digit odds and only one at a time, topping out at 4.4% on Glistening relics and falling to 2.1% on Decayed, so fifty gems that way is well over a thousand relics. The Ancient Relic Recycler is also gated: it runs on electricity, draws 800 energy per second while working, and can only be placed inside a base, so it needs a powered production area before it converts anything. The chest route inside the World Tree is the better passive supply — the electric-sealed chests return 5 to 10 gems at a 33.3% clip, which is roughly two crystals' worth per twenty chests, while ordinary treasure chests and fishing there trickle in single-digit amounts.

The drop table splits into two very different tiers, and only one is worth your time. Eikthyrdeer Terra, Gorirat Terra, Warsect, Dualith, Anubis, Sekhmet, Tetroise and Knocklem each hand over 10 to 20 gems at a guaranteed rate, so a single one of them covers a fifth to two-fifths of a crystal and three or four encounters will usually finish the 50. Wispaw, Polapup Terra and Mycora also drop the gem but only 1 to 3 at a time, which is twenty-plus kills for the same result. Catching pays exactly as well as killing here, so throw spheres at the big-tier Pals and bank the Paldeck entry alongside the gems rather than farming the small droppers at all.
