How to Get Knocklem
Knocklem is Ground, so a Grass attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Wild Knocklem spawn between level 55 and 80. That top end fights the sphere much harder, so start low and leave the tougher ones until you need duplicates.
Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it dead average, which makes the back-strike bonus worth lining up before you throw.
GrassPlaying Knocklem Well
Knocklem breeds true. Put two of them in a pen and the egg is another Knocklem, so the only hard part is landing the first pair — after that the relic haul (30-50 Decayed, 10-20 Dormant, 4-8 Gorgeous per kill) scales with cake, not with how many level 55+ wild ones you can find. The one other pairing that lands on Knocklem is Celesdir Noct with a Knocklem you already own, which is worth knowing only if your second slot is a Celesdir Noct rather than a spare.
The Fire subspecies has no wild route through Knocklem's own spawns — Knocklem Ignis comes out of a Knocklem paired with Ragnahawk, Neptilius, Paladius, or Jormuntide Ignis. Ragnahawk is far and away the cheapest of those to get hold of. At the base the Ignis form is a clean upgrade — the same Mining 7 and Transporting 7, plus Kindling 5 the original does not have. In a fight it is the opposite trade: the Ignis is pure Fire, not a Ground/Fire split, so it hands back the Electric resistance and the Ground-attack bonus and picks up a Water weakness instead. Breed one for the furnace line, keep the base form for the field.
Knocklem paired with Whalaska is the whole recipe for Anubis — no third step, no tower boss. If you caught a Knocklem before you had an Anubis, that pen is the fastest way to the Handiwork 6 / Mining 6 body you actually want running the base, and Knocklem itself stays on Mining 7 and Transporting 7 in the meantime.
There is no point waiting for dark. Knocklem's 33 wild points are the same 33 by day and by night — the night list is not a separate pool, it is the same coordinates repeated. Plan the route around your own schedule and around the Aggressive temperament instead: it opens on you the moment you are in range, so approach from a perch you can retreat to rather than on foot.

Beating the boss Knocklem once yields the Knocklem Bounty Token. Holding it is the whole effect — it permanently raises the stats of every Pal on your team for as long as it sits in your inventory, so it is never worth selling.

Most of them are around Deep Sand Dunes (90.9% of known spots), with smaller pockets near The Furthest Flats.
