Whalaska
#151Needs Whalaska Saddle equipped — without that gear the skill does nothing. It unlocks at Technology level 42 for 3 points, so a Pal caught early can sit unusable for a while.
Asleep, it gets taken for a floating slab of ice, and other Pals climb aboard to rest. Too mild-mannered to shove anyone off once awake, it quietly resents the loss of personal space.

How to Get Whalaska
Whalaska can be fished up rather than fought — 8 wild spots of the small kind hold it, at level 50–69. The alpha turns up on the bigger spots, so a rod can hand you one without a fight. Once you have a Fishing Pond at base it shows up there too — 7.3% per catch in the large pool, which is the hands-off way to farm one.
Whalaska is Ice / Water, so a Fire or Electric attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Wild Whalaska spawn between level 42 and 80. Higher-level ones are markedly harder to hold — take a low one first and come back for the rest when you are stacking a condenser.
Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it middle of the road: take the health bar down first and aim for its back.
Hunting the snowfields is the long way round — this one is fishable. It enters the pool at the Advanced fishing tier, the bracket that covers spots rated for levels 30 through 69, and pulls at levels 50-69 at any hour, so no waiting for a time window. Two thirds of its entries in that tier are the large and medium hooks flagged as the boss form, against a single set of small ones, which makes a rod a more reliable route to an alpha-form Whalaska than tracking down the level 55 alpha itself.
A Large fishing pond at your own base is the third route and it opens earlier than the wild does. The pond lists it at 7.3% in the level 36-48 band — below the 42 floor of its wild spawn range — with a separate boss-form pull at 0.4% across levels 44-54. That 0.4% is slow, but it is a home node that needs no travel and no fight, and it is the only way to farm the alpha form while sitting in your own base.
Playing Whalaska Well
Chilled Whale Cruiser adds 5, 7, 9, 11 or 14 by partner skill rank both to where the minigame bar starts and to how much each success fills it, which is the same value applied twice per catch. The skill is gated behind Whalaska Saddle at tech level 42, so it is dead weight on any Whalaska caught before that unlock. The Ignis form's Cozy Whale Cruiser beats it at every rank (7 through 17), but its saddle sits at tech 71 — meaning the plain form is the one that actually carries you up the fishing tier ladder, and the upgrade lands long after you have climbed it.
The fishing rows are not all the skill carries. From ☆1 upward it also grants a swim speed bonus — nothing on an uncondensed copy, then 10%, 14%, 18% and 25% — which is the same shared bonus Azurobe, Solmora and Neptilius hold, and it does not appear on the in-game skill card at all. Two things follow. A Whalaska kept purely for fishing is still worth one condense step it would otherwise never get, because ☆0 to ☆1 is where the travel half switches on from zero. And if open water is all you want, Azurobe reaches the identical 25% ceiling with a saddle at tech 24 against Whalaska's 42, so this is the swim mount you take for the rod rather than for the crossing.
The Ignis subspecies does not come out of the usual rank averaging, so no amount of partner-swapping in the parent list below will produce one. It sits in the fixed-combination table as Whalaska with Chillet Ignis, and the recipe is recorded with both parents in their alpha form — a plain pair of either species returns nothing special. Two Whalaska Ignis alphas are a fixed pair as well and true-breed, so once one is in the pen the second stops being a project. This is what makes the boss-flagged fishing pulls worth chasing: they feed the only entry into the red form.

Whalaska Boss Rewards
Beating the boss Whalaska once yields the Whalaska Bounty Token. Holding it is the whole effect — it permanently raises the stats of every Pal on your team for as long as it sits in your inventory, so it is never worth selling.
The fight also unlocks Whalaska Saddle, the gear that lets you ride or deploy Whalaska properly.
Wild Whalaska Level Range
Wild Whalaska roam at level 42–80 out in the world — plan your spheres and party level around that before hunting one on the interactive map.
Where to Find Whalaska
Whalaska spawn locations in the wild — every marked spot is a known spawn area.
Most of them are around Feybreak Shipwreck (24.1% of known spots), with smaller pockets near Isle of the Glacial Core and Azure Cliffs.
