Where to Find Dormant Ancient Relic
143 Pals drop Dormant Ancient Relic when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.
It also shows up as world loot — junk hauls while fishing in the World Tree, treasure chests in the World Tree and fishing the treasure spots in the World Tree, and 5 more pools besides, usually 1–3 at a time. Higher-grade chests carry the better rolls, so the ones guarded by a camp are usually worth the detour.
Sending a team on the World Tree Subterrenean City Ruins expedition brings some back without you leaving base.

Using Dormant Ancient Relic Well
The only thing to do with a Dormant relic is feed it to the Ancient Relic Recycler (Technology Lv 74, 3 points, 800 power — see the recycler guide). Each one returns a guaranteed 3-5 Mythical Wood and 3-5 Paloxite, then rolls eleven independent bonus slots: 24% for 5-10 Ancient Civilization Cores, five separate Radiant Gem rolls at 12 / 6 / 3 / 1.5 / 0.75%, 1.625% for a disposable implant, three consumable rolls at 3 / 1.5 / 0.75% covering technology manuals, stat and skill fruits and work-suitability tickets, and a 0.59% shot at an ancient weapon or armor schematic. Long-run that averages 1.8 Cores and about a quarter of a Radiant Gem per relic.
The step up from a Decayed Ancient Relic is far bigger than the one grade of difference suggests, and it is all in the Cores: a Decayed relic pays a single Core on a 20% roll, a Dormant one pays 5-10 on a 24% roll — nine times the Cores per relic. If you are grinding Ancient Civilization Cores for endgame builds, Dormant relics are where the farm actually starts paying, and there is no reason to hold them back.
Do not stockpile Dormant relics chasing a schematic or a specific gem. The schematic slot fires on 0.59% of recycles and pays the lowest tier 80% of the time, so a Legendary ancient weapon or armor schematic lands roughly once in 17,000 relics — hunt those with Glistening relics instead, whose schematic roll is 20% plus a second 19.44% slot. Radiant Gems are the same story: every gem slot picks evenly across all nine elements, so the colour you actually want shows up about once per 39 relics. Recycle them as they come in for the Cores and the bulk World Tree materials.
