Small Pal Soul
Material · MaterialMonster1★The spirit a small Pal leaves behind. Offer it at a Statue of Power and it pulls out abilities that were otherwise hidden.
This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.
Details
It weighs almost nothing and stacks to 9,999, so there is no reason not to carry a full stack. It sells for almost nothing, so do not bother hauling it to a shop.
Small Pal Soul Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 1 material across 1 type. Each craft returns 2, so the real cost per unit is lower than the list suggests.
Where to Find Small Pal Soul
13 Pals drop Small Pal Soul when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.
It also shows up as world loot — chests in the Grasslands, treasure chests in the Grasslands and treasure chests in the Forest, and 16 more pools besides, usually 1–2 at a time. Higher-grade chests carry the better rolls, so the ones guarded by a camp are usually worth the detour.
Sending a team on the Verdant Hollow and Secret Realm of the Forest expeditions brings some back without you leaving base.
Chests inside 4 caverns, including Hillside Cavern and Isolated Island Cavern, can hold it as well.

Using Small Pal Soul Well
At the Statue of Power, only the first four ranks are paid for in Small Pal Souls — 1 for rank 1, 2 for rank 2, 3 for rank 3 and 4 for rank 4, so 10 souls total takes a Pal to rank 4. Rank 5 onward switches to Medium Pal Soul, so stockpiling small souls past that point does nothing for a Pal you are still levelling.
The Crusher trades souls both ways at the same rate: 2 Small Pal Souls make 1 Medium Pal Soul, and 1 Medium breaks back down into 2 Small. The round trip is lossless, so a pile of the wrong tier is never wasted — feed the excess in and take out whatever the next rank needs.
