Ancient Civilization Core

Material · MaterialMonster4

A core out of technology whose makers are long gone. Turning one up on the Palpagos Islands borders on impossible, and each holds a great store of forgotten knowledge.

Ancient Civilization Core feeds 37 different recipes, which is why it is worth farming past the point you think you need it.

Where to Find Ancient Civilization Core

2 Pals drop Ancient Civilization Core when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.

It also shows up as world loot — crates on the oil rigs, crates on the large oil rig and recycling Decayed Ancient Relics, and 7 more pools besides, usually 1–5 at a time. Higher-grade chests carry the better rolls, so the ones guarded by a camp are usually worth the detour.

Sending a team on the Astral Frost Cavern, Celestial Sakura Cavern and Dark Cave of Feybreak expeditions brings some back without you leaving base, and 3 more expeditions can return it too.

Every Summoning Altar raid pays cores on a win, and unlike chests the reward is a flat 100% — the only variable is how many. Base slabs: Bellanoir's Slab gives 1–3, Bellanoir Libero's Slab and Blazamut Ryu Slab give 2–4, Xenolord Slab gives 3–6, Celestial Sigil gives 4–6, and Hartalis Slab gives 4–7. That makes the altar the only source in the game you can plan a build around, because the count never rolls zero.

The Ultra slabs are the real farm. Bellanoir Libero (Ultra) Slab, Blazamut Ryu (Ultra) Slab, Xenolord (Ultra) Slab and Hartalis (Ultra) Slab each hand over exactly 10 cores per clear — no range, no roll. Three Ultra runs beat an evening of opening World Tree chests, and they cover the 30 cores an Ancient Shield or Ultra Shield wants in three summons flat.

Expeditions are the hands-off source, and the payout climbs with the destination: Astral Frost Cavern returns 1, Celestial Sakura Cavern 1–2, Dark Cave of Feybreak 2–3, Sunreach Isle 3–4 and the World Tree Subterrenean City Ruins 3–5. All five are Hard, all five take an hour, and every one of them pays out on a certainty — no roll to lose. The gate is the roster rather than the run: each destination wants 20 Pals and, apart from the World Tree, all 20 of one element (Ice, Water, Dark, then Dragon), with recommended strength climbing from 286,000 to 851,000.

How to Get Ancient Civilization Core — Dropped By 2 Pals

Using Ancient Civilization Core Well

One exception to the harder-is-better rule: Celestial Sigil [Master] pays a fixed 3, less than the 4–6 from the ordinary Celestial Sigil. If cores are what you are after, burn the plain sigils and save the Master ones for whatever else they drop.

Work out the slab cost before you commit. A single Xenolord Slab run averages about 4.5 cores against 10 guaranteed from the Ultra version, so an Ultra slab is worth roughly two base clears — spend fragments accordingly rather than summoning whatever is cheapest to assemble.

The World Tree's Forbidden Area looks like the upgrade and is not. It asks 2,100,000 strength, ties the team up for two hours, and pays 6–9 cores only half the time — about 3.75 an outing, where two ordinary World Tree runs in the same two hours bank a guaranteed 3–5 each. Send teams to the plain ruins for cores and save the Forbidden Area for the rest of its pool.

Raid Boss Rewards

Ancient Civilization Core drops from 11 different raid bosses, so the one worth summoning is whichever you can already beat reliably.
