Where to Find Speed Lotus (L)

Speed Lotus (L) shows up as world loot — crates on the oil rigs, crates on the large oil rig and recycling Decayed Ancient Relics, and 4 more pools besides, usually 1–2 at a time.

None of the routes below is the good one. The large orange flower grows on the floor of the Volcanic Cavern as a pickup, and that cavern is the only place in the game it grows — every other lotus cavern pays a different colour. Its layouts come pre-seeded with fixed flower spots rather than random ones: ten layouts exist, each carrying between two and six orange spots, and most spots only bloom about one visit in ten. Four of the ten also hold one spot that blooms roughly nine visits in ten, which is the single biggest swing in the run. Averaged over the layout draw that is about 0.74 flowers per clear against enemies at level 32 to 36 — nearly fifty levels below the raid that also pays it.

On top of the fixed spots, a Volcanic Cavern reward point can roll a lotus node, and that one splits evenly between the orange flower and Life Lotus (L) — call it another 9% per run. It only exists on medium and hard layouts, so an easy cavern hands you mushrooms and junk with no node in it at all. Worth knowing which caverns to walk past: Cavern of the Dunes splits its nodes between Life and Power (L), the Astral Mountains Cavern between Stamina and Carrying (L), and Hillside Cavern, Ravine Grotto and Mountain Stream Grotto draw from the small-flower pool only — an orange pull there is Speed Lotus (S), never this one.

Priced in one finished Speed Elixir — six flowers plus two Predator Cores — the cavern beats everything listed. Eight Volcanic Cavern clears cover it. The level 80 raid pays 20% per clear, so thirty clears; it does re-drop its own summoning sigil at 100%, so the entry fee is free, but the flower is a coin flip four times over. Ordinary oil rig crates work out to about 0.3 flowers an open once the 20% chance and the 1 to 2 stack are folded together, roughly twenty crates; the large rig's grade 5 crates are worse per open at about 0.2 despite the fatter 1 to 3 stack. Recycling Ancient Relics is not a route at all — Glistening relics, the best of the five, hit 0.073%, on the order of 8,000 recycles for one elixir.

Using Speed Lotus (L) Well

Two recipes eat this flower and the second one is easy to miss. Speed Elixir is the obvious sink, a permanent Work Speed boost that only ever applies to you — feeding it to a Pal does nothing, and the small orange flower is no substitute since Speed Lotus (S) feeds the weaker Speed Remedy instead. The hidden sink is Power Fruit, which takes three of these alongside three Power Lotus (S) and three Power Lotus (L) to raise a Pal's Attack. That matters if you are farming the level 80 raid for the flower: its pick-one reward offers three Power Fruit, and taking them instead of the Life or Stout option is worth nine of these flowers plus the other six lotuses on top of whatever the drop table already gave you.
