Where to Find Speed Lotus (S)
Speed Lotus (S) shows up as world loot — crates on the oil rigs, crates on the large oil rig and recycling Decayed Ancient Relics, and 4 more pools besides.
The chest pools below are not where this flower actually comes from — random caverns grow it on the floor as a pickup, and only three layouts grow the orange one: Hillside Cavern, Ravine Grotto and Mountain Stream Grotto. Their lotus node draws evenly between four small flowers — Speed, Power, Life and Stamina — so one node in four is the colour you came for. Enemies in those three run levels 5 to 10, 12 to 15 and 20 to 23, which means the flower is farmable from the early game, sixty-odd levels below the oil rigs that also pay it.
The node only exists on a cavern's medium and hard reward points. An easy layout rolls treasure, mushrooms and junk with no flower anywhere in it, so a run that turns up nothing is not bad luck, it is the wrong cavern grade. On the tiers that do carry it a lotus takes about one reward point in six — one weight against 5.5 on medium, against 5 to 7 on hard depending on the layout — so with the four-way colour split folded in, budget roughly twenty-something reward points per orange flower. Re-entering costs nothing but walking time, which is what makes this the route.
Priced in finished Speed Remedies — four flowers and one Predator Core each — every route on the chest table is bad. Grade 5 crates on either oil rig pay 4% for a single flower, so about 25 crate opens per flower and 100 per remedy. Recycling Ancient Relics is not a route at all: Glistening relics are the best of the five at 0.145%, on the order of 700 recycles for one flower and 2,800 for one remedy.

Using Speed Lotus (S) Well
Two recipes eat this flower and they compete for your stock. Speed Remedy takes four plus a Predator Core and permanently raises your own Work Speed — handing it to a Pal does nothing. Life Fruit takes three, and it is the one recipe in the set that mixes colours: orange alongside Life Lotus (S), Life Lotus (L) and Carrying Lotus (S), to raise a Pal's Health instead. The partners are the hard part there, not the orange one — Life Lotus (L) grows only in the Cavern of the Dunes and Volcanic Cavern, and Carrying Lotus (S) grows in no cavern whatsoever, leaving oil rig crates and relic recycling as its only supply. The large orange flower is no substitute either: Speed Lotus (L) feeds Speed Elixir, a separate and stronger permanent boost, and it grows in Volcanic Cavern rather than the three caverns above.
