Giant Pal Soul
Material · MaterialMonster4★What remains of a Pal that reached a high level of training. Offer it at a Statue of Power to unlock abilities that were otherwise dormant.
It is a component in one recipe, so keep a couple spare rather than a stockpile.
Details
It weighs almost nothing and stacks to 9,999, so there is no reason not to carry a full stack. It sells for almost nothing, so do not bother hauling it to a shop.

Where to Find Giant Pal Soul
4 Pals drop Giant Pal Soul when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.
It also shows up as world loot — treasure chests in the Sunreach Isle, crates on the large oil rig and enemy camp loot in the Sakurajima, and 3 more pools besides. Higher-grade chests carry the better rolls, so the ones guarded by a camp are usually worth the detour.
Sending a team on the Celestial Sakura Cavern, Dark Cave of Feybreak and Sunreach Isle expeditions brings some back without you leaving base, and 2 more expeditions can return it too.
Chests inside Sunreach Skies can hold it as well.

Using Giant Pal Soul Well
Every Statue of Power rank from 11 to 20 is paid for in Giant Pal Souls, and nothing else is: 1 for rank 11, 2 each for ranks 12 and 13, 3 each for 14 through 16, then 4 each for 17 through 20. Carrying a single Pal from rank 10 to rank 20 costs 30 of them.
A Pal taken all the way from unranked to rank 20 needs 10 Small Pal Soul, 6 Medium Pal Soul, 6 Large Pal Soul and 30 Giant Pal Souls. Because each tier merges two-for-one, that whole bill is worth about 36 Giant Pal Souls — the last ten ranks alone are roughly five times everything before them.
The merge recipe runs both ways at no loss: 2 Large Pal Soul fuse into 1 Giant Pal Soul, and 1 Giant Pal Soul breaks back down into 2. Since one Giant is worth 8 Small Pal Soul down the chain and every soul weighs 0.2 regardless of tier, banking spare souls at Giant tier costs a fraction of the carry weight and you can always split them back down for the low ranks.
Resetting a Pal's upgrades is charged by the rank it sits at, and it climbs steeply once Giant Pal Souls are in play: 4,000 gold at rank 11, 10,000 at rank 17, and 30,000 at rank 20. Decide which stat you are pushing before you spend the souls.
Predator Pals are the reliable farm. All 61 predator variants drop a Giant Pal Soul at 100%, alongside a Predator Crystal — the early ones give exactly 1, while the tougher ones roll 1–2. That makes a predator kill worth strictly more than the four world bosses on this page, which cap at 1 apiece.
