Ancient Shield
Armor · Shield4★Made with ancient techniques that no longer survive. Go long enough without taking a hit and it knits itself back together, a level of performance the modern era supposedly cannot match.
Ancient Shield is the strongest shield in the game by shield strength, at 2,200.
Nothing is crafted from it — it is an end product, so anything you make is meant to be used rather than banked as a component.
Details
It does not stack, so every spare copy costs an inventory slot. At 1,929,840 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.
Ancient Shield Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 365 materials across 5 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 250× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows.
Where to Find Ancient Shield
Ancient Shield is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Using Ancient Shield Well
If you have already built the Advanced Shield (Advanced Shield) you are most of the way here. The two recipes share 50 Ancient Civilization Parts (Ancient Civilization Parts) and 30 Ancient Civilization Cores (Ancient Civilization Core); this one asks for 50 more Paldium Fragment and swaps the Stainless Steel and Thermal Cores for 30 Soralite Ingot (Soralite Ingot) and 5 AI Core (AI Core). Those last two are the only genuinely new shopping list — nothing else in the recipe is something a level-71 base is not already producing.
The materials are not the wall, the bench time is. This build is 10,000,000 work — five times the Advanced Shield's 2,000,000 and roughly 67 times the Hyper Shield (Hyper Shield). No shield can be made from the handcraft menu, so it occupies a production line from start to finish. Queue it with your highest-tier Handiwork Pals on the line and treat it as an overnight job rather than something you start when your current shield breaks.
Measured against what it replaces, the jump is real but not enormous: 2,200 shield against the Advanced Shield's 1,800 (+22%) and 22,000 durability against 21,000. Durability barely moves, so what you are buying is the extra 400 points of absorb per engagement — worth most against raid and tower bosses that burst straight through a shield in one combo. If the Advanced Shield is still carrying you through the content you are clearing, spend the Soralite Ingots and AI Cores elsewhere and come back to this when the shield is what is failing you.
Every Tier of Common Shield
The same piece exists at 6 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: durability runs 1000 to 22000, a 22x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
| Rarity | Item | Durability |
|---|---|---|
| 0★ | Common Shield | 1000 |
| 0★ | Mega Shield | 1500 |
| 1★ | Giga Shield | 2250 |
| 2★ | Hyper Shield | 3500 |
| 3★ | Ultra Shield | 5000 |
| 4★ | Ancient Shield (this one) | 22000 |
Alternatives and Upgrades
Nothing in the shield class beats it on shield strength. The next one down is Advanced Shield at 1,800, so if you are still using that, this is the upgrade worth the materials.
