Where to Find Hexolite Quartz
Hexolite Quartz comes out of the ground: there are 635 hexolite quartz nodes on the Palpagos Islands, and each one grows back a while after you break it, so a good cluster is worth remembering.
1 Pal drops Hexolite Quartz when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.
It also shows up as world loot — field drops in the Feybreak, usually 1–2 at a time.
Sending a team on the Ancient Feybreak Ruins expedition brings some back without you leaving base.
There is a fourth source the acquisition table above cannot show, because it is something you build rather than somewhere you go: the Hexolite Quartz Mine, a Production structure that generates this crystal inside your own base indefinitely. It sits at technology level 62 and costs 5 Ancient Technology Points to unlock, then 70 Stone, 100 Hexolite Quartz and 10 Ancient Civilization Parts to place. It draws no power — energy type is None and its drain rate is zero — so it needs no generator, no wiring and no fuel run, only floor space and a worker.
The Ancient Material Synthesizer is the other in-base way to get it, and it is worth building for its own reasons — technology level 78, 50 Paloxite Ingot and 10 Ancient Civilization Core, and it is one of the two structures base camp level 34 asks you to place — but it does not retire the dedicated mine. It burns 800 power a second where the mine burns none, it gates on Mining rank 6 and Deforest rank 6 instead of rank 1, it takes twenty times the construction work to raise (1,000,000 against 50,000), and its own description admits only one Pal can be assigned to it at a time. Treat it as ore breadth for a fully powered late base, and keep the mines as the cheap dedicated line for this crystal.

Using Hexolite Quartz Well
The 100-crystal placement cost makes this a bootstrap problem, not a purchase. Nothing produces Hexolite Quartz until the mine exists, so the first 100 have to come out of the Feybreak nodes, expedition returns or Celesdir kills listed above — roughly a hundred swings of a pickaxe before the automation starts paying you back. Fund it early anyway if you intend to build Hexolite in quantity, since that recipe eats one crystal per bar and is the sink that makes repeat Feybreak trips tedious.
The staffing bar is far lower than the facility's own description implies. It asks for Mining at rank 1, which is the bottom rung: a Cattiva or a Lifmunk clears it, and the heavy miners you were saving for it buy you throughput rather than eligibility. Rank 1 also means any spare mining Pal already in the base can be assigned without reshuffling your ore line.
One crystal costs the mine 20,000 work, and its idle tick is zero — unlike a well or an oil pump, it produces nothing while unstaffed, so every crystal is paid for in Pal labour. That per-unit figure is the highest in the game alongside the Coralum pit: two and a half times a coal, copper, sulfur or chromite pit at 8,000, and double a quartz pit at 10,000. It matters because Hexolite wants one crystal and one Chromite per bar, and the chromite half arrives two and a half times faster — roughly five quartz mines per two chromite pits keeps the two lines even, and anything less than that means the crystal is what your Hexolite output is waiting on.
