Where to Find Mythical Wood
Mythical Wood shows up as world loot — recycling Decayed Ancient Relics, recycling Dormant Ancient Relics and recycling Gorgeous Ancient Relics, and 3 more pools besides, usually 1–3 at a time.
Chopping the trunks inside the World Tree is the volume route, and the first attempt usually fails for a reason nothing on screen explains: World Tree harvestables wink out as you walk up to them, so you never get an axe swing in. Two things suppress that. Drink World Tree Holy Water and the resources hold their place for a stretch, or keep a Pal out whose passive does the same permanently. Without one of the two, an axe run up there is wasted stamina no matter which axe you carry.
The holy water pays for itself on the same trip. Field pickups in the World Tree hand it over at a flat 100%, 5 to 10 a time, in the same sweep that turns up the wood — so the first run you clear on a borrowed bottle funds every run after it. Stock a few before you commit to a long haul, because running dry mid-trip means the trunks start dodging you again.

Using Mythical Wood Well
The guaranteed relic route costs wood before it pays wood: the Ancient Relic Recycler itself takes 50 Mythical Wood at level 74, so you hand-log that first batch no matter what. Past it the heavy sinks are structures rather than gear — Skillfruit Orchard wants 200, Ancient Farm wants 100 plus 50 World Tree Holy Water, Ancient Pal Bed only 3. Budget a full relic-recycling session per orchard, not per armour piece.
Seven rank-5 passives keep World Tree resources from vanishing, and a Pal carrying any one of them replaces the potion entirely: Demon's Hand, Dimensional Leap, God of Destruction, Hermit Sage, Sanctified Meat Shield, Twin-Edged Holy Blade and World Tree Seedbed. Every one pairs the effect with a drawback, so pick by what your logging Pal is not using — Hermit Sage costs 20% work speed but halves sanity drain, which is close to free on a mount, while God of Destruction and Sanctified Meat Shield trade combat stats you are not spending on a tree. Two disposable implants, Double-Edged Holy Sword and World Tree's Bounty, write one of these onto a Pal directly if the roll never comes.
What Mythical Wood Is For
Mythical Wood is what the quest "Surviving the World Tree" asks you to bring — that is the reason it exists, and why holding on to one is worth more than selling it.
