Using Fiber Well

The Wood-into-Fiber conversion listed above is not a workbench recipe — it runs on the Crusher, a base production structure unlocked at technology level 8 for 2 points and built from 50 Wood, 20 Stone and 10 Paldium Fragment. Until you place one, chopping trees by hand is the only supply you have.

You cannot work the Crusher yourself. The object is flagged as not player-workable and its job is a Watering order, so it stands idle until a base Pal with a Watering suitability of at least 1 is assigned to it. Rank 1 is the whole requirement, and every early Watering Pal clears it: Fuack, Celaray, Teafant and Pengullet are all catchable long before the technology unlocks. Penking brings rank 2 if you want the wheel turning faster.

Because the chain is one material deep — Wood in, 2 Fiber out — every Fiber costs exactly half a log, which makes the big recipes far cheaper than their numbers suggest. The 200-Fiber Giant Feed Bag is 100 Wood; the 100-Fiber Extra Weapon Holster 2 is 50. Put a Lumbering worker and a Watering worker in the same base as the Crusher and both halves of that run without you.

The craft itself is trivially cheap in work terms — 500 units per batch, against 10,000 for a single Carbon Fiber — so one rank-1 Watering Pal keeps a Crusher saturated. The bottleneck on a Fiber stockpile is always the log supply feeding it, never the machine.
