Using Extra Weapon Holster Well
The materials are trivial and the gate is elsewhere: the recipe sits at level 27 of the ancient technology tree and costs 5 Ancient Technology Points, which levelling alone never gives you. Reaching player level 27 does nothing on its own — you need the points banked from ancient sources first, and 5 is a full boss's worth. Plan the unlock around a tower fight, not around a farming trip; the 20 Wooden Board, 30 Fiber and 20 Leather are an afternoon at a workbench once the point is spent.
There is a second holster (Extra Weapon Holster 2) and it is what gives the slot after this one, which is why a duplicate of this holster is dead weight. That one lands much later — level 54, another 5 Ancient Technology Points, and a far heavier bill of 100 Fiber, 40 High Quality Wooden Board, 40 Leather and 20 Carbon Fiber. Between the two unlocks you are running one extra slot for most of a playthrough, so spend it on the weapon you keep switching to under pressure — a launcher or a heal-adjacent tool — rather than a second rifle that duplicates what is already holstered.
