How to Get Tarantriss

Tarantriss is Dark, so a Dragon attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.

Wild Tarantriss spawn between level 20 and 58. That top end fights the sphere much harder, so start low and leave the tougher ones until you need duplicates.

Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it middle of the road: take the health bar down first and aim for its back.

The level 35 alpha does not need a search pattern: warp to the Deep Bamboo Thicket fast travel point and head south, slightly west. It is the closest waypoint to the spawn by a wide margin, so the walk is short enough to repeat after every wipe.

You do not have to fight one at all. It is a Dark Pal, so it is in the hatch pool for Dark Eggs, and the grassland egg nests restock on their own timer — worth collecting on any pass through the region if you would rather roll for it than clear the alpha.

Playing Tarantriss Well

The saddle comes off the technology tree at level 20, and the ride is worth building for movement rather than for its speed line. Tarantriss' Web fires a thread that hauls you toward whatever it sticks to, and the mount gets a second jump in mid-air, so cliffs and gaps that would cost a stamina bar of climbing become one pull and a hop. The 10% to 20% move speed ladder is the smaller half of what the skill does.

What Starfruit actually buys here is grapple uptime, not speed. The web sits on a four second cooldown at partner skill rank 1 and sheds a second per rank — three, two, one — until rank 5, where the cooldown is zero and you can fire the next pull the moment the last one lands. Chaining webs across a ravine is a rank 5 trick; at rank 1 you get one pull and then you are walking. Worth knowing too that rank 1 carries no ride speed bonus at all — the 10% only switches on at rank 2.

Tarantriss Boss Rewards

Beating the boss Tarantriss once yields the Tarantris Bounty Token. Holding it is the whole effect — it permanently raises the stats of every Pal on your team for as long as it sits in your inventory, so it is never worth selling.

The fight also unlocks Tarantriss Saddle, the gear that lets you ride or deploy Tarantriss properly.

Tarantriss spawn locations in the wild — every marked spot is a known spawn area.

Most of them are around Sealed Realm of the Mystic (56.5% of known spots), with smaller pockets near Gobfin's Turf and Mossanda Forest. They come in groups of up to 3, so plan sphere stock for more than one.

Besides its wild habitat, Tarantriss turns up inside 2 caverns, and takes the boss chamber in one of them. Caverns are the reliable option when the overworld roll is not going your way.
