Needs Xenogard Saddle equipped — without that gear the skill does nothing. It unlocks at Technology level 41 for 3 points, so a Pal caught early can sit unusable for a while.

Information is food to it, energy once digested, and it keeps beaming transmissions off to someone. — Hello? What was the message you just sent? I devoured it before checking.

How to Get Xenogard

Xenogard is not in the wild spawn tables or any dungeon, so it cannot be found by exploring — it arrives through a fixed encounter or by breeding rather than a hunt.

Xenogard is Dragon, so an Ice attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.

Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it dead average, which makes the back-strike bonus worth lining up before you throw.

Nothing places it on the spawn map and no altar summons it: the only wild Xenogard you will ever meet arrives on a meteor incident, and the incident tables that carry it hold exactly one body — the alpha-flagged version, which is why the fight opens with a boss bar instead of a nameplate. Every other meteor in the same regions lands three or four Xenovader instead, occasionally with an alpha leading them. So the count tells you what you got before you are in range: a crowd is the wrong roll, a single silhouette is the one you came for.

Do not size your spheres to the level on the bar. Even the level 33 desert version is the alpha entry, so it carries boss-grade capture resistance and wants Legendary Sphere the same as the sky-island one does; a tier chosen for an ordinary level 33 Pal is throwing the encounter away. Bring more than you think — the incident despawns on its own timer and there is no altar to re-run it.

Playing Xenogard Well

It is pure Dragon, so Ice is the whole plan and the two obvious counter-picks are both traps: Dark and Dragon damage feed the resistances a Dragon carries. Mounting Frostallion converts your own weapon fire to Ice while you ride, which keeps your damage on-element without asking an AI partner to land hits on a flying target. Its 130 Defense is the reason chip damage never closes the fight — it out-tanks its own 110 HP by a wide margin, so an under-geared squad runs the timer out rather than losing.

Where the meteor falls decides which Xenogard you fight, and the spread is wide. The desert and volcano incident sets field it at level 33 and 35, the Snowfields at 40 and 43, Feybreak at 50 and 53, and the sky islands at 65 and 66. The grassland, forest and Sakurajima sets never carry it at all — their meteors top out at Xenovader — so an alert near a starter base is worth ignoring. Since it is the same Paldeck entry everywhere, deliberately chasing meteors in the desert or the volcano hands you a level 33 target instead of a level 66 one for an identical catch.

Best Xenogard Build

Xenogard shines as a mount. The passives listed here sharpen that role — catch for them, breed for them, or implant them.
