Where to Find Xenogard Saddle
Xenogard Saddle is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
The recipe is research rather than loot: it sits on the Technology tree at level 41 and costs 3 Technology points, which makes it the expensive one in its bracket — the Yakumo and Mammorest Cryst saddles land on that same level for 2 apiece. No new bench comes with it. Saddles are built at the Pal Gear Workbench, a level 6 structure that costs 10 Paldium Fragment, 30 Wood and 2 Cloth and runs on a single pip of Handiwork, so the bench has almost certainly been standing in your base since the opening hours. The Ancient Workbench builds anything and accepts this too, and that matters more here than on a cheap saddle: at 100,000 work this is over three times the typical piece of Pal gear, so it is a craft to hand to a high-Handiwork crew rather than one to stand and hold the button through.
Using Xenogard Saddle Well
The saddle unlocks a long way behind the Pal. Xenogard has no wild population anywhere on the map — it comes to you, in the Snowfields base raids, at level 23 to 26, and three of the herd tables carry it: one in the Violent herd, two in the Ferocious, three in the Extremely Ferocious. Build in the snow and you will have met it, and can have caught it, fifteen or more levels before the research is even available, with the Pal sitting in the box unusable in the meantime. The same wave settles the one material that actually gates the recipe. Every Xenogard that goes down leaves 5 to 12 Meteorite Fragment and never zero, so the 30 the saddle wants is three or four defeats — and the Extremely Ferocious herd walks three of them into your walls at once. Catch one, put the rest down, and a raid you were dreading has paid for the saddle you cannot research yet.
Xenogard Saddle — Xenogard's Gear
Xenogard Saddle is Xenogard's own gear — no other Pal can equip it, and Xenogard cannot be ridden or put to work in its geared role until you have this in your inventory.
Equipping it turns on Xenogard's partner skill, Unknown Intruder.
Xenogard is Dragon, which is what decides where it is worth taking — the gear does not change its typing, only what you can do with it.
